I know some Jews who were from Damascus in Syria. Their great grandparents were sometimes referred to as Arab Jews in the 1920s because their ancestors adopted the Arab language after the Arab Islamic conquest. They still maintained their Hebrew language for religious studies, business records, and like the Jews in Iraq they used Hebrew to communicate with Jews far away. Just because they were Arabized and became fluent in Arabic and contributed to Arabic culture doesn't mean they forgot their Hebrew language, traditions, culture, etc.. When the first Jews came to Syria in ancient times the Syrians spoke Syriac (a dialect of Aramaic).

@@johnohara197 well i am impressed about you not being affected by propaganda, there are parades in Tel Aviv to stop the war , but few , Israel is a democratic state and such parades are allowed, though there are much more parades supporting families of kidnapped asking Israel to stop Humanitarian aid as long as kidnapped are in Gaza .I understand that even in Ireland there are differences from north to south and from west to east, but if there is a Basketball game between Israeli and Irish women and Irish not fully understanding situation took decision not to shake hands and to dishonor Israeli anthem, then there is a state of mind against Israel in Ireland that is probably stronger than other western non Muslim countries. And the issue of Israel being alone and isolated , now it seems so and probably will be so for a while, until in other parts of the world there will be better understanding of what are the real news.
