It was like an 8 minute song and they only had 4 minutes to play. Instead of cutting it short they went into double time.

We had this song on 8-track. My sister was like 5, and this was one of her favorite songs ever. "Find me the yodel song!" "Can we hear the yodel song?" Every time we got in the car, lol. 💚

Honestly, I listen to so many different songs from so many different groups in so many different genres, it’s rare for me to come across something I’ve never heard! You managed it- wow! WILD!! You mentioned the studio version -- I do suggest checking it out -- it's cleaner and not so fast but still really good. It's probably in the comments already that they were told that for this show they had less time than they normally need for this song so they speed it up here. Enjoyed your reaction!

Dutch progressive rock band Focus was formed in 1969. They achieved international success in the 1970s with their highly accomplished and unique blend of rock, jazz, and classical music. "Hocus Pocus", the band's most recognizable song outside of Europe, was a surprise hit with the masses and is originally from the classic 1971 album 'Moving Waves.'

This is Prog-Rock. Check out Pink Floyd from the same time period, they had some weird noises in some of their songs too. And the yodelling etc. is exactly the same each time for the song!

The studio version is twice the time. They were told to edit the song. The band said, no we'll do the whole song and this happened. They are a Danish band and found a way to make the music language-independent.

This version was played in double time because the show wanted them shorten the song and they refused. It’s quite hilarious and it has absolutely nothing to do with the movie.

Can you imagine this piece is 51 years old?? Focus is a Dutch progressive rock band, founded in 1969. They still sound 'fine sawed off' to me; like when I only heard their music on the radio in my youth. 🤪

Yep, we Dutch are the best jodlers by faaaaaar(and have zero mountains to boot) Eat that Austria, Peru, Nepal, Kilimanjaro, yaaaawn Rocky M. states, wet Bhutan & pathetic Switzerland and the rest of the silly countries which are a few millimeters above sea-level (cowards !
