I wanna play Edison but I've been playing auto sims for so long that DB terrifies me. I've just been deck testing in solo mode to adjust to the interface and even after multiple days I still keep forgetting to click the phase buttons.

I like watching Edison streams because I can actually tell what's happening.

Respect to anyone's opnion, but edison is peak yugioh for me. Watching you play these games just feels nice.

It's amazing, these games are great! No wonder so many people like Edison. You're rewarded for your strategic planning, and you're punished for your mistakes; whenever either you, or your opponent do something right, or wrong, it is clear for all to see. It makes sense, it is fair. Although games can snowball to a point of no return where 1 player will win no matter what, it is the result of the players' actions. It also will take a while before you die, so you have time to make 2 or 3 draws before the duel is decided, and this allows for many little trades through the duel. The advantage gained from going first doesn't seem as determinative because of the relatively low power of the cards; there are also not many free negates available, and most of them are either defensive/reactive like Stardust, or 1-time-use unsearchable traps. The opponent might make 2, or 3 (at most) big dudes, but they usually do nothing, and although I cannot easily out them, I'm free to work with my resources to make up my own plays; I don't have to rely on 1-card combos because I'm not opressed by the free disruptions my opponent could set up by going first. Although there have been improvements since Branded, and Tearlaments, the game still sometimes feel like turn-1-or-scoop turbo where going first, and making the same board in a mechanical way with little strategic input from the player, and with the objective of preventing your opponent from playing the game is all that matters.

I just came back to this video after playing edison on db for 8 hours straight (seriously not exaggerating). I stopped playing yugioh entirely in early 2012 but discovered your channel a couple months ago and started to get interested in the game again, but after seeing what modern yugioh has become I've lost interest again. But after seeing this video I was excited to play edison so I made an account on db to play for the first time in a decade. I'm so happy edison has become a thing because this is the EXACT game that I fell in love with years ago. I'm surprised by how much I still remember and how decent I still am at the game. I'm so excited for this that I'm going to look into where I can find edison tournaments around my area and hopefully start playing again since I still have my old cards. Thanks MBT

Some of the comments are just baffling. Yes, this format isn't for everyone. People have different taste and can enjoy whatever format offers the style of gameplay they are looking for. But if you cannot comprehend the depth each seemingly simplistic action in this format offers, then I'm afraid that's not because of preference, but because of your lack of understanding of yugioh fundamentals. Even to this day, this exact difference in understanding is what gives top players the edge in duels.

Waiting for people to realize now that there's an Edison ladder that Edison isn't even that good and that Yugioh didn't have a single good format until HAT and didn't have a GREAT format until DUEA. I mean I guess you could argue "a good format resembling the modern game" but i'd argue that 90% of older formats involve non-games decided by topdeck wars and blowouts. 99% of decision making in older formats is "do they have X major blowout that beats this? if not than cool" just repeated every turn until somebody hits 0. It's like playing in a modern simplified gamestate where it never goes beyond a simplified gamestate.

After playing md and duel links hearing so much about this format it looks like ass its just mass destruction and combat trick monsters id take getting drag +wok ftk over games that are litteral top deck the out wars

Need the streamer voice toned down. Ending sentences with this upward inflection just sounds weird, it makes you sound unprofessional imo. Just talk normal, talk like you're talking to your wife, it doesn't need to be this fast paced sentence with a presenter style inflection at the end. Example @ 13:35 "what do we do here, well we have to mst this cos we NEEEEED to contest the grefer or we are DEAD, dead" Just speak in a normal tone damn. There's like 3 ups and downs in one sentence. This might seem like a shitty thing to say but it genuinely takes me out of the video, it makes me not believe the things you say
