Some of the mentalities you mentioned, like being confident as a kid, being crazy at your hobby, are somehow forgotten as I grew older. I thought exactly like you when I was younger. But life hits hard and comes at you fast. And all of a sudden I am now 28 and I found myself caught up in struggles and self-doubts. And these thoughts that I had just eventually vanished. This is actually the most inspirational video I've seen this year 😭😭😭 I totally agree that nothing good comes easy. I had a time a few years ago with horseback riding where I wanted to give up so bad, it was so hard, I just was done with it. But my mom told me to not just quit when one day goes bad, and to try again. I finally agreed, and now, 3 years later, I'm STILL riding and I'm SO glad I didn't give up, I honestly don't know who I would be if I quite then. If you love to do something so much, don't quite just because its hard, it won't always be that way!! 💖

As a parent of a 4, almost 5 year old, seeing the world through their eyes will be so fulfilling and endearing in such a deeply spiritual way. Somehow hit me, I'm tearing up 😅 damn in hindsight I know everyone struggles with confidence but not having people around you that can reassure you really sucks. It's been like more than 5 years since I've heard you're going to be ok in a non condescending way.

"Throwing" a thought out is actually a strategy! Therapists have told me to pretend the thought is on a dart, then throw it at the wall as hard as I can. It helps compartmentalize anxious thoughts if you're not able to deal with them at that time. Or pretending that you're locking the thought away in a trunk until you can get to it.

As a fellow young dad, it's amazing how similar our thoughts appear to be. That "make the choice" thing, in particular, is something I decided to do when my son was born. There's something powerful in having to decide to be better than you are, because you have to raise your children well

4:04 I do the same with negative thoughts or just distracting thoughts when i need to focus. i imagine the thought physically leaving my head and it works 100%. It took a long time to make it work since you have to program your brain basically and it takes a while but in middle school i had severe anxiety and i somehow developed this method and it worked for me and i still use it today 15 years later.
