I've painted a response to being a Pop Icon. After thirty years, I've become Pop Art, something that people look at, recognize, and remember. I've tried to respond with art. I hope you enjoy it. Please subscribe, like, or share. See all the paintings at www.tomwilsonusa.com Thanks.
Thanks.

I think the reason that Biff and Mad Dog have grown and not gone away, is that you've succeeded in making those characters real. Lots of movies I watch, it's easy to separate the actor/actress from their character. It's like it's just (Insert Actor name) playing whatever character. For you, it's that you broke Biff and Mad Dog through that wall, where they became real. I appreciate your work as an actor, comedian, and artist, and my son loves your work on BTTF. He asks to watch it every single day. Thanks for helping create these memories.

I love how personal this is, and a lot of the videos you upload. It honestly resonates as someone who feels they could express themselves more, but doesn't because of a lack of audience. To see someone as accomplished as you, making videos such as this just for the sake of making them. It doesn't sound like you're so much broadcasting your opinion, as to just speaking out loud for whoever wants to hear. To that, it's so much easier to relate to you and understand your art. It really makes me want to go out and make things. I'm not sure if that was part of your process, but it's a byproduct. Thanks Tom.

Thank you for putting this video together and showing a completely different side of yourself. I was born in 1980, and grew up on the movies you were in, but had no idea the talent beyond acting or stand up you have. I like how you seem to embrace the "stereotypes" people have towards you through those movies, and then bring them to a new level with a different meaning to the images. Well done, even adding the dots like in the old comics on some of them. As much I as I like the BTTF song, I think I liked this video more.

This is one of the more evocative pieces I've seen in a while. It really speaks to the nature of modern Pop, how in many cases the artist and the art are simpatico, and how that can effect the artist itself. Amazing analysis and execution. Bravo sir.

I've got to say Mr. Wilson, this video has made my day. I am glad to know that someone of your fame, and indeed, "iconic" stature, has retained such a critical eye on their place in human culture, and also that you are more than willing to present it yourself in alternate art forms too. An interesting take on what it is to be a pop icon for sure. Thank you for these great six minutes and best of luck in the future (one without Pepsi perfect let's hope)!

I feel a bit stupid now because after seeing your paintings on instagram I just assumed they were something you found interesting and therefore photographed, but it shows how I at least view most people's photos - as souvenirs of things they saw and places they went. I guess this is particularly true of instagram though. Anyway, it's always good to see an artist at work, and even better to hear a nonsense-free explanation of what it actually means or where it came from. Thanks for sharing.

I gotta say that's pretty awesome and wish i could afford to buy some of that work to display but at the end of the day i think you chose a great outlet. The biggest problem that i think you faced was that after BTTF ended, i can only imagine is was hard to move past and be seen as something other than biff and it must have been painful. I dont think any human being should be reduced down to a movie they made or a tv show they were in like an object with no feelings. I think it's great to be a fan, i was 13 when i saw the first movie and i loved the series as much as the next fan. I however was never the fan that reduced the actors in it to just that movie and it's something i didn't understand. If i ever had the chance to meet Michael j fox, yourself or any others from the flick id want to talk about so much more and back to the future isn't one of the topics. Id be thinking here i have all these great actors and human beings right here to talk to, do i want to waste it talking about a movie i loved as a kid or much more fun conversations about other stuff in life. The fact is though we live in a world of pop culture and one hit wonder songs that never go away and always spark a great memory. We just need to remember that we need to treat human beings as just that human beings with respect, famous or not and not as a pop culture icon because no human being really is famous just some people think they are, its the truly human that are just that human.

I'm 36 years old and Back to the Future has been one of my greatest inspirations throughout all of my life (so much that I named my oldest son Emmett after Doc Brown). When I found out that you were an artist, I took a look at your work and was instantly a fan - and not just because you played Biff. I'm actually talking about your piece, "Glitter Love" in an art history essay that I am writing for my art history class at Full Sail University (third degree - this one is in film). The irony of the piece and the love/hate relationship you have with the character intrigues me to no end. Keep doing what you do, Mr. Wilson.
@lsdkjsdlkjpiosdcposdjfdjad1363
while I don't care for pop art much myself (I'm a godward man) your stuff is so much more... intimate? methodical? in any case, I could really tell how personal those pieces were, and that they meant a lot to you.

I'd like to see more actors engage in making art like this. Not this per-say, but paintings, drawings, sculpture, etc. It's more revealing and personal than any interview. I think that you could making art and talking to other actors. Perhaps talk to them a bit while making art together. I'm an artist too :)

Great work! And I appreciate you and your self reflection. When I think of fame I always remember the story of Paul McCartney being turned away at a Grammy after-party in 2016 because the young doorman had no idea who he was. Or Marylin and James Dean cardboard cutouts being more well known than their actual body of work. Someone like Kanye wants to be remembered 2000 years from now like some Pharaoh but would anyone know why or care and he wouldnt even be around to get off on it. I guess thats why i love to honor forgotten and under appreciated character actors so much. Those Rockford Files and Bonanza Guest Stars.
