I am SO ANGRY! Legion 9th Gen Is Up to 52% More Expensive?!! 

Keep in mind this is a company that "starts" with very high prices then massively discounts them shortly after release. Their "original" pricing is always super high to make you feel like you're getting a great deal once the normalized "discount" pricing rolls out.

That really feels like a mid cycle refresh with a massive price increase as opposed to any meaningful upgrade..better off getting a 13th series or last gen model at a steep discount while you still can.

Thank god I bought a GEN 8 2023 Legion 9i with a i9 CPU and RTX 4080. You are 100% correct on the 2024 being over priced with little benefits. I guess we will have to wait to 2025 to get Ti versions of 4070, 4080 and 4090 😮

Regarding the ending, the RTX 4050, 4060, and 4070 GPUs all hit a voltage limit at around 100 watts, so laptop OEMs likely can't go any higher unless they include the two highest end GPUs, the RTX 4080 and 4090, which they, of course, aren't.

I really hate what Nvidia is doing. Just give us desktop 4070+Ryzen HS in laptops 😠 Nah, there is only low end and high end, no inbetween. As a result we either have underpowered machines or severely overpriced premium models with(usually) bad battery life. Thanks for the video! Seems like Pascal and Turing are the only 2 gens where Nvidia treated laptop users like people.

I bought a gen 9 on a 20% discount and it came out to roughly the same price as the last gen, my only concern is if the laptop in general will be good for the next 4 years

When will the rates of the 8th gen laptops start to go down significantly? I can wait upto March before I pull the plug...Will there be any good sale period before that?

What are your thoughts on the other brands? MSI seems to be releasing the MSI Titan 18 HX, which will be an upgrade over the MSI GT77.

I have the Pro 5i Gen 9 with the i7-14700HX. Still okay for the price considering a good upgrade from the i7-13700HX. Honestly, if you have the money, just but what you want.

7:13 . Thank you stephen for pointing out this fact. There are morons on the internet who think nvidia and amd don't make the laptops so its 100% on OEM's to cut down parts and dictate pricing. Ultimately they have to buy from intel, amd and nvidia. So if they're selling overpriced stuff, you're going to be paying for that as OEM's will pass the cost down to you. Not saying OEM's are saints, but amd, intel and nvidia are the root cause of the issue. And THANK YOU for pointing out the DECREASED power. This fact being ignored is SO bad, even reputed techtubers ignore it.

Welp, they became the new razer. Their design and specs cater to gamers and business. They spec kits rather than different models outright. Although their heatsink sucks being soldered/ one construction.

Very high price of a very very small improvement. I will absolutely not buy this new generation of laptops. The problem is, that I'm not sure if they will keep restocking the previous generation of their laptops. For example, I wanted to buy the Lenovo legion slim 7 gen 8 AMD, with some selected upgrades. Unfortunately the laptop has been out of stock since mid December. Now I'm worried that they will discontinue all the previous/old gen laptops so we are only forced to buy this expensive newer gen laptops.

The omen 17 with a 175w 4080 and i7 13700hx and 240hz QHD panel was ~$1670 on newegg. Outside US, like in south america, south asia, south east asia, etc. the rtx 4000 are jacked up in prices with 4080's going for $3000+. In places like dubai the rtx 4080 laptops are more like european prices where they are usually 2k euros/pounds or more meaning ~$2200 to $2500+. Even assuming the lenovo comes down in price, whats the point? Just some CPU upgrade? WTF is this? The discounted price is the REAL price they should've launched at. Even cutting off $1000 from the prices of laptops like the 4070 legion costing $2700 won't be enough to save it. Even making it half price is barely worth it because its a pathetic 4070. Lastly, WHERE IS THE desktop 4090 nvidia? You're charging us $4000+ for these 4090 laptops. You literally managed to cram a rtx 6000 quadro into laptops. And why are they still using dynamic boost? Why don't they let us control the TDP of laptops? Nvidia showed they're ultimately in charge of that with the driver bug.

Well got a myself a Steam Deck OLED for christmas. Best purchase I have made in a decade for gaming. PC GAMING is just a dumpster fire since 2020. Overpriced hardware to play unoptimized PC ports that STUTTER no matter what on windows 10/11. Valve actually fixes the games instead of the lazy devs/publishers and forces shader pre-caching and compilation on Steam OS/Proton and oh boy do game runs smoother on a weak 15w handheld than on my 17.3 inch 230w gaming laptop, the irony! If they increase prices this much for gaming laptops folks won't bother anymore, the gaming experience is so bad. Meanwhile smooth stutter free 40 fps @80hz 1000 nits HDR gaming experience of the Steam deck OLED is pure bliss, for Just 550 usd! Unbestable value!

Has more to do with the CPU's and GPU's available not Lenovo themselves per say. You can only do so much at the beginning of the year when they aren't even available yet for pricing. I'd love to know the pricing of the ASUS AMOLED laptops, Alienware and MSI laptops

I think these prices are for early adopters - lenovo has tendency to lower prices by 25% after fiew months, at least in eu. Another point is - if prices won't drop - who will buy this when last gen is still available

I saw the spec sheets for the gen 9 7i and 7 pro i And I can probably say I am a happy owner of a Gen 7 now I may retract my statement if they come out with a full AMD version but so far this full Intel / Nvidia combo I am not impressed and it's still the same BS they pulled on Gen 8

Well I think at this point, the market is saturated with capable gaming laptops. So Lenovo is charging a premium for those who want to upgrade to the best brand out there (imo). But do I like it? Nope.

You're so right, Lenovo really fell down in 2023, and now they don't seem to be learning their lesson in 2024. Same with Dell (and Dell is by far the worst at this), Asus, and pretty much every laptop OEM that isn't Framework.

Just stay away from from Intel CPUs. I've been using the Legion 7i Pro for 8 months now. It is the worst piece of garbage I've ever bought. Gets 2 hours of battery life watching videos.

This is a pretty transparent Nvidia tactic, increase prices now so when they increase prices next year over this year but actually have new GPU's, it looks more palatable vs baking in 2 increases over 2023. These should be DOA, I hope consumers don't buy them and they're still having to massively discount them next year. I'm out until 2025 at least. Maybe they release something decent with strix halo, but this pricing is ridiculous.

Not only Lenovo's doing this, other brands are doing the same. I miss the older year like 2016 before the RTX cards came, we could afford the low-end models now the price uplift like 20-30% increased.

Don’t forget the 2023 legion’s extortionate pricing upon that release. With top end 2022 being about 3k, the 2023 legion so called “pro” 7i launched at £4000 in the uk, despite having plastic and cutbacks all over it. The overall disappointment of the 2024 models are just the cherry on the top.

beside the silly pricing, surprisingly Legion line up for this year are absurd. I don't know what lenovo thinking about.

I thought CES 2023 was dissapointing with how the rtx 40 laptops were priced but this year it is even worse.

8th gen 9i just went up in price from $3150 to $3400 on their site.

i was hoping laptop companies would be forced to innovate a bit since their working with hotter and not exactly faster cpus... but i guess not lol. honestly unless nvidia heavily drops the price on the gpus so the laptops sell cheaper this gen is done for. its not worth buying anything with a 4050 at this point, the 4070 sells for more than its worth and anything with a 4080 is over 2000.

I agree with you totally,but the problem is even last gen will not drop the price for sure(at least in France)I can still see lots of laptops from old gen at high price,I can't even understand.. Even thought we can get like a laptop with 3080ti or something like that and very capable,it will be always less capable comparing to new technology Grom Nvidia and frame generation etc..

I can buy a GPD Win 4 for 2k AUD right now with 64GB ram and 4TB SSD. How hilarious in 2024 that Lenovo still offers max 32GB and 2TB in 6 thousand dollar laptops (AUD, Legion 7i/4090 maxed out). Of course there is a massive, incomprehensible performance difference, but my point is that even handheld manufacturers realise there are people who don't want to have to open a machine up and want more ram and SSD storage.

..and remember all these CES specs are for US consumers. By the time they get to the UK they will have gone through various RAM & Storage capacity downgrades.

These prices will drop soon enough. The 8th gen legion laptops were priced similarly at launch last year , prices dropped fairly quickly after launch.

@OWNORDISOWN Hello Steve happy new year bro 👍 Yeah mate from what I see this year overall systems sucks due to minimal refreshes for Overpricing Alienware and Lenovo both disappointed me I hope Msi finally make the minimal changes worth investing such as adding a G-sync and Mini Led or Oled screen options in Laptops I am currently chilling with lenovo legion 5 pro 2021 with rtx 3060 and ryzen 5800h stingray white and it is still doing amazing job for me I think I am gonna wait till rtx 5000 and intel arrow lake to see if it worth it or not because current gen with minimal upgrades with overpricing seem to be like a trap for me I also feel most people have to listen their wallets instead of their brains so this year probably no go for everyone maybe investing on previous gen for cheaper will be a good idea. The competition has OLED and Mini LED. Lenovo is still using IPS and recycling the same design but charging big prices.

They missed a sale right here by taking all year to bring out the 7945hx model and they are going to do themselves out of a sale this year with the price increases and 100% stagnation I'm been considering an all Radeon Alienware m18 if I can get it on a deal just as a middle finger to Intel for relabeling raptor lake as a 14th gen and Nvidia for continuing to fleece high end mobile gamers
