That was weak... let me try again. 9 out of 10 doctors recommend Loadsoddroppedgreatness to battle everyday disgustipation. Side effects may include: temporary over-thinking, over-analyzing, separating the body from the mind, and long-term holism.
I think they shot it with a shotgun too there is a documentary on it. They were seeing what kind of sounds it would make while destroying it with certain things.
I was 32 when this album came out. It's still playing on repeat lololol This album changed everything in my life!!! They are simply wizards of sonics and lyrics!
Nothing but bangers. I graduated high school in '97, and this album and Ænema were basically my soundtrack (along with NiN and others, but Tool took the top spot and never left) 🤘
Step one of many. I'm thanking fate every day that i could experience it very shortly after release. Once I heard "sober" on the British MTV i just knew it would stay with me for the rest of my life. 30 years after, it still goes on.
Dude, you should just go to the concert. They may not come back. You do not want to miss it. Trust me. I've seen them 17 times and I will go every single time they are close to me. You can get a ticket day of for sure.
Eventually you need to work your way back to the 1992 Opiate EP as well as their earliest work the 72826 LP from 1991 it has a raw early version of Sober on it. The 72826 cassette was the one the band made and handed out at colleges before they were discovered.
Dude resale rickets are the cheapest the week before the event! You shoudl absolutely go! I just saw them in Charlotte lasy weekend and they're in peak form.
Excellent Reaction! This album deals with dark issues, abuse, hate, addiction and others. Your comments are spot on, it is an album of warnings or examples of dark times in a person's life. It reminds me to be careful, avoid these pit falls and work towards overcoming them. The remaining LPs do touch on similar ideas but are mostly ways to help the listener overcome these problems. Spiral Out!🌀🌀🌀
I’m going to see TOOL in February!! I’m soooo freaking excited!! Last show I caught was well over a decade ago. If they play anything from Undertow I will die a good death!!!!!!
You are even more out your god damn mind if there's a TOOL show happening in your city and you don't go?!? Bro - these guys are in their late 50's. There is a greater than zero percent chance that there won't be a, "next time," and that should be more than enough to justify you doing whatever it takes to get a ticket. Your first live TOOL show is a life altering experience...full stop. Now you need to beg, borrow, swindle, scheme, suck a couple meat sickles...do what the fuck you gotta do man, but you - GOT TO GET YOUR ASS TO THAT SHOW!
I am currently on a roll to watch all sorts of Tool reactions (or overall Maynard James Keenan ones, he has other fun projects like A Perfect Circle ot Puscifer) but you, Sir. You take the crown so far 👑!!! No really, keep your style, effing digging it! Exactly my kind of humour too 😂 Now be warned: Undertow is already insane but it honestly really starts at their next album Aenima and COMPLETELY goes off the rails with Lateralus. There are many many Tool treasures yet to be discovered, maaaaany more 😏😏😏. Lateralus, Schism, Parabol/Parabola, Stinkfist, H., Eulogy, The Patient, Vicarious, Right in Two....AHHH. All so good!
I haven't listened to this album in a year or so. Great reaction. I consider this progressive groove metal, it's got a funkieness to it. Tool never sounded like this again, outside of The Pot. I love this album so much, I get butterflies when I see the album cover.
I just watched the whole thing... I have such bad ADHD so do you know how hard it is for me to sit through even a 10 min video? How you perceive this band ive been listening my whole life is more interesting than anything ive seen on all of youtube, and I've seen a shit ton of Tool reaction videos. Keep it up dude, also you being on that medicine makes it 10x more fun to watch lol. Keep up the amazing work dude.
I did something similar. I drove from coastal Mississippi to Chicago to see them once. Thankfully, they played my city on Jan. 27th. It was so cool not having to leave town for a show.
Thanks so much for doing a whole album man!!! This album came to be my favorite album, I only discovered it after I had fallen in love with their later stuff
I have heard on my tool fan pages that sometimes you can go on ticket master last minute and find solo seats left at good prices. No resale uptick. It is worth a try...never miss an opportunity in life, we don't know what tomorrow will bring. Spiral out.
Yess!! I went to see TOOL live on January 24th. They played Intolerance and Flood that evening. And Flood was played with a Fuzz effect on the bass. It was soo fucking amazing
Well technically their first album, but the EP Opiate was quite the eye opening banger for me. Got it free when the opened up for Rollins. Love the new stuff as an evolution but miss that old hard stuff every once and awhile.
It only gets better from here and this album is like a 10/10 lol tool is crazy. My favorite band ever. This is their "simplest" album lol😂😂😂 (not including opiate, as its ep)
Holy shit!! No!! They have the best show on earth, honestly. As a die hard metal head I don't say that lightly either. Their show always takes place on another planet. First show of theirs I went to, I was on shrooms and I remember Aenima coming on and their lights protected this broken wall onto the screen behind the band. As the song continued the lights made it look like water was slowly filling the stadium.. best memory I have of any show. I'd cross Canada to see them.
Note the bassist here and the EP for this "opiate" was Paul D'Amour who is Adam Jones' (guitarist) friend. He was replaced by Justin Chancellor from UK after this album when Paul left to pursue guitar with other artists
3 Steps toolightenment Accepting Tool songs in your heart Listening to albums front to back in one sitting Experiencing Tool LIVE Your mom knew about Tool coming to your neck of the woods isn't the end of the world, but it not a good look 😂😂😂 Spiral Out Learn to swim
I was 2 months old when this album came out and i remember these songs like they were hella familiar when i began actually listening to them after Ænema came out. Tool is the best
"Sober" was my 1st introduction to Tool about 31 years ago. I saw the video on Headbangers Ball on MTV. I have been hooked ever since. No one compares. I just saw them this past February in Corpus Christi, and it was the best concert I have ever been to. Wait until you hear their entire disography. Aenima is my personal favorite album. #Toolforever
I think half the lyrics in Sober are from the perspective of the drug/booze. I think the part you were confused with ("I am just a worthless liar", etc) is the drug talking. That's just one interpretation though, I'm sure there are many 🤘
18:58 ol Henry Rollins coming in with a payment to a debt from a poker match love this part 52:20 this intro really feels like you can hear that Black Sabbath inspiration shining through 1:10:48 this is also probably between 1990-1993 when the album released incredible what they were able to accomplish
I remember the first time I heard Disgustipated, blew my mind. It was basically a hiddden track, (I think?). Had listened to the album many times before (on CD), but I guess I always stopped it after Flood. My memory may be foggy, it was a long time ago, but I think there was quite a few minutes of silence before the player clicked all the way thru to get to it. Only heard it because it was playing in the house while I was busy doing something. Thanks for the reactions, really like how you work.
They had all been together maybe a year when they recorded this. Danny didn't join until like 91 and they pretty much recorded opiate immediately and were recording undertow inside of a year from opiate
One of the best reaction channels ever! I hope you do all Tool albums, Lateralus and 10000days would be so good. Also I would be so happy to see you broaden your horizon into other Prog Rock/Metal legends, Opeth and Porcupine Tree especially :)
Just after the guitar squeal on Sober, someone knocks on your bedroom door, demanding you turn your stereo down. Knock knock knock [In the far background]
This is occasionally my favorite Tool album. Bottom, Undertow, and Flood are my favorites from it. You missed something at the very end after the crickets chirping.
I keep coming back to Undertow on this LP. Lyrically and musically I get the picture of how exhilarating drug/addiction is as it pulls you down, and you need a bigger hit each time. "Twice as clear... Half as clear." Then the bass and drums ripping and punching through the struggle. So good.
I absolutely LOVED this! I've been living for your Tool reactions! So glad you've been able to get back to it, I'm so sorry you've been sick but glad you're feeling a bit better.. You're quickly becoming one of my favourite Tool/Music Reactors.. Keep up the good work! ❤
Loved the reaction dude, but you missed a great part right there at the end! Disgustipated has a poem at the very end of the track. Though I guess a lot of people miss it cause I've only seen one other comment here that mentioned it. I know I'm a couple days late to the video so you may not see this, but if you've got some free time you should check it out for yourself. Either way, keep up the reactions. Looking forward to what's next 😁
dude tool doesn't like to your u.s. you may never get another chance. in 2008 they made a surprise announcement for Bonnaroo and hit up Ford stadium in Evansville on the way there in a town called evansville Indiana. I immediately sold possessions bought a ticket for my best friend and brother and wound up losing a chef position over their concert. the place held 3000 there were 3100 in attendance. they were touring on 10000 days. every sacrifice I made to see this band live with 2 weeks notice was worth it. cash in some savings bonds and peep some scalpers cuz you may never get another chance. pink Floyd is a show I'll never get to enjoy but I can say I rose to the occasion and saw the greatest musicians of my generation live. if your serious about ever seeing them don't let it pass by. I let primus pass me by in a tow. I lived in once which hardened my heart and gave me Lazer focus when tool showed up
Dude! I dont know where you live. Dallas? Get off your ass and out of the basement and go scalp a ticket and see them. They are in their 60s and you might not ever get the chance again to see them. I just saw them in Charlotte last Sunday as well as Baltimore and Knoxville over the past two months. They blew my head off with Intolerance last Sunday. You wont regret it.
i've been listening to Tool since this was released and they NEVER get old 😎🤘 side-note... i LOVE Henry Rollins' spoken word section on 'Bottom' Respect & Peace ☘
enjoyed that alot! especially since undertow is my least favourite (or at least the one i heard the fewest times). In comparisson to the other albums it just sounds so different...I surely dont know enough about music to pinpoint exactly why that seems to be the case...non the less undertow is a frickin great album, very much tool and i enjoyed it a lot. now do all the other ones too!!!
