"What helps you stay motivated?" "Paying my bills." I know you said it with a jokey cadence, but I want people who may read this to know: with how hard it is to make and save money, sometimes having a job just "to pay bills" is a good enough reason
It’s always so helpful to hear what early habits successful artists had/have to get their foot in the door! I found you on Tumblr years ago, and it’s cool to hear how you used that platform to get your name out and practice your craft at the same time.
The only reason he got parts is because his deep voice. An average person likely won't have any characteristics that will get them a job unless they know someone
@@thymicere3911 he literally says he used the site. it’s okay i know your kind of people have short attention spans, you probably didn’t hear him say it.
@@thymicere3911 his vines were posted on tumblr by a lot of people. You can find someone on a different platform due to reposts. Like quite a few of his posts are spurred by content from tumblr. No one cares if he was on the platform or not.
what the hell, this axxl dude was on a danny gonzales video too. oh well. hey op, i can understand the excitement, voice acting sounds fun. hope you enjoy your new hobby!
I really enjoy the videos where SungWong Shares his experience and thoughts. It's also nice to see that SungWon is so passionate about voice acting. Like he is chill but when he talks about his experience or how much he loves acting he smiles instantly. Wholesome. Thank you for great vids SungWon!
I know he won't see my comment, but I've always wanted to be a voice actor. Hearing him talk, made me realize how much more I want to become a voice actor. Love his work and others like him.
I needed this. My voice is a lot like yours. Deep but with a range. I’ve only made 1 voice reel and it’s not very good. I’m good with “voices” but I’m struggling on making those original voices that sound real
Seeing ProZD come from just doing random voice clips on tumblr to when i first learned he was in something like borderlands and other well known things is hyper inspiring.
Really enjoy these chats. I appreciate how pleasant you are with your audience in general, and I find your anecdotes charming. Though when you get feisty it is great too, as its usually something you care about, and seeing that passion is fun. Be safe. Be awesome.
A few weeks ago I found out a youtuber was going to host an unofficial Overlord read-through and he sought people online to take the roles. I auditioned, sadly just as the role got taken, but he said my voice would've actually fit very well. So that makes me happy enough :'3 Fantasderful day everyone!
Hey man, thanks for all the answers! This was super cool! you’re one of my personal heroes. So thank you for inspiring me. I’m still looking for that first gig, so wish me luck!
This is such a super cool video to watch! Not only are there abundant tips for those that want to be voice actors themselves, there are some tips for those that may want to direct too!
Thanks for making this video man, I've only just really realized that I want to do VO so this type of resource is so helpful. I'm going through college right now and I have no idea where to start, thankfully I've kind of found a place I could try to start! Thamks again man!
It's pretty surreal being one of the people who followed him on tumblr when that was all he had. I remember seing the banner to his channel when I first discovered it and thinking...wait a minute...that looks familiar.
These vids show a couple roles he's done: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0YQc1xr6LIg.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-M9dGo5MQD-s.html
From these questions (and another video you made) I learned that Voiceover work is a lot like drawing. Not in a technical sense, they're two completely different art forms, but in the sense that they're both things that take practice. discipline. There's no guarantee you'll make it big, and you should do it because it's something you love to do. I've been drawing for 8 years now, and I find myself giving younger/aspiring artists the same advice that you give in these videos. That's just... really really cool to me!
Really, sorry I didn’t know you were doing a Q&A, but how do you generally apply for a job? If you can answer this then thanks! If not then don’t worry, I understand I should have asked earlier
If you’re a beginner, your best bet is something like Behind the Voice Actor or Casting Call Club. Would not recommend going in thinking you’re gonna get every job you apply for though, not trying to be a downer, I’m just being real.
Have the mindset that you might fail 9 times out of ten but it's the Determination , Motivation , as well as will power within yourself that will keep you going, because you only Need one Open Door, One Chance To begin your Journey as well as Destiny c: . Don't be afraid to Fail, Because that's how you learn in life n.n/
Great advise SungWon! I love your videos...weirdly the eating every type of... videos. Comment for viewers! I started Voice over around a year ago, and have to say nearly every gig ive had so far have all been my own voice. I got into it originally as a hobby to voice characters the opposite of myself, Villain's / monsters... people who go outside. Anyone here who wants to try it or get started, Castingcall club is great and free however 90% of it is fan work and non paying (you have to start somewhere). Great for getting a feel for Voice acting and who knows maybe you'll end up in a Skyrim mod!
Let me just say that hearing you had a media/technology major??? SUPER encouraging. I'm starting to think maybe I want to do voice acting and that my media degree wouldn't get me anywhere in the industry or it was "too late" for me to veer away from what I thought I wanted to do. I found u through tumblr so hearing this from someone I've followed for a bit was super validating this is maybe a dumb oversharing comment but thank u for sharing that it's really encouraging
I'm finally beginning to pursue my dream in voice acting, and I must admit, I'm a little nervous to get into this career path. I'm determined, and I think I can do it, but I know it can be difficult (as you said) to get the job. Currently trying to find the right equipment for recording and all that jazz, and practicing on some things that I'm a bit weak on for voice acting (such as doing a convincing laugh, or a fake cry)
I just stumbled on your channel here. I actually remember your performance from Apotheon on Wii. I remember imdbing to see if Zeus was voiced by Richard Epcar again and being shocked it was some new guy. Anyway I just wanted to say you're super talented and keep up the good work.
This is a very helpful video thanks! I have been getting into voice acting lately and its a lot more difficult than I first imagined. I only have one video of me voice acting so far because I lack confidence. I hope to someday have my own video game development studio where I can do voices in my games or do something more professional would also be awesome :)
1. Can you do multiple different takes on a character and just send both to the director in the audition? 2. Is it important to listen to your own recordings, to improve your voice/ emotional aspects?
Got me thinking what I need for voiceactors in my game. I'm in the early stages of making a retro spyroesque game (still in the process of learning how to make a game as well).
I remember noticing, when I was a kid, that sometimes a character on one cartoon or movie had a voice that I recognized from some other show, and it would actually help me like the character and get an idea what kind of character they would be. Like some people played the 'good guys,' for instance, so I would know this is a hero character.
Ever since I saw my first film, deep down I've always wanted to be another character. Before I go to sleep, I play a role in a show that I've recently watched and play that character in my own way, or even make up my own character (idk why but it's usually a deranged character of some sort). When I play with my little brothers, I go into another character and chase them around the house. My personal favorite is the Australian chain smoker, even though my accent is shite. I only realized that I really liked voicing acting when I did this dumb Sonic parody with some classmates a few months back. It was honestly really fun, and since then I've had a dream of actually having a legit role for a character. I've been too afraid to take the first step, but after listening to this video I think I'll try. I'm only in High school, so hopefully I'll land a role before I'm 25 😅
I nearly lost my mind when you said you started an audio blog on Tumblr, I first started voice acting in Tumblr but I became discouraged when it was attracting attention. It just goes to show that when you persevere then anything could happen.
See, I don’t want to be a voice actor, but I want to be involved in theater, and I think that they’re kind of similar. Even if this doesn’t help me 100%, I just love watching your videos anyways.
