I'm halfway into the video, and I'm loving this build! As idea, one thing that you can see in old european towns is the scars of old downtown train lines, as they are changed for underground lines and long parks are built over them. Would be a perfect match for Seaside Haven!
This was cool, gotta say the european side looks great but those buildings are so big and blocky, they don't blend with the landscape well. Would suggest mixing a bit of low density around the outsides rather than hide it behind forest; especially the plaza with the angel statue really feels like it should have a view to the water but the chungous buildings get in the way there when they don't have to
I live in a sea side town in the States and the Africa in Miniature is the best vanilla assets to create similar vibes. You did an amazing job at creating the old vibes that these town have. The light house was perfect with the rock wall and something I will have to use going forward too.
Really like the seaside build! Kind of reminds me a tiny bit of Charleston, South Carolina with an overtone of the rock with the lighthouse off the North Carolina coast. Looks really nice and I like the diversity of it 😍
Awesome video and a great city design. These are so of my favorite ideas for designing a beautifully created beachfront city. You did a very good job of detailing what the A.I. talk about. Really nice build.I think you are setting the bar higher every episode. Two thinks only I wanted to mention, parking spaces in European cities are rare and narrow, so for the vibe I would build less massive parking lots, rather small and few. Second even in high density we have some small playground in european cities, especially in Germany where I live. But the build is awsome :)
I think egg is European to (England) but I do agree with you in terms of parking. Tho they do have big parking lots in spaces with a lot of commercial area. Aside from that not really. In terms of playgrounds idk, we don’t really have that in the Netherlands.
@@mr.blazer9084I'm in a small-to-midsize town 1990s Dutch neighborhood, and there are small playgrounds everywhere. Same goes for the1980s, 2000s and 2010s neighborhoods around here. Not Just Bikes has a video about how they are all over Amsterdam too, so the size of the place you're in doesn't make too much difference. There's an urban planning guideline when developing an area for family homes, that young kids should have a small playing spot and/or some grass within 200 meters of their house, even if it's just a "wipkip" and some grass, maybe a small slide or swing or playhouse; and older kids or young teens should have a bit larger place to play within 500 meters of their house, even if it's just a grass field with some soccer goals and benches. If you don't have anything like that where you live, that may be relatively unusual; or maybe you're in a neighborhood where very few kids live, so the city puts in some stuff for old people instead (e.g. a bench instead of a teeter-totter). Most beach towns do have some parking area within walking distance of the beach, to deal with daytrippers and summer tourists. Not to US levels, of course, but there will be some!
Indeed OE's build guide 2 is at the moment the pinnacle of his work. I used to live in Ghent (Belgium). It's quite an old town, buildings from the 1500s are everywhere. It's narrow, it's quite green with playgrounds and parks dotted around, and there is almost no parking what so ever. All the big parking lots are either from supermarkets or slightly out of town with public transport connections. Northwestern Europe, as far as I know, is just old towns that were converted to the current age. There are alleys, there are churches litterly everywhere and there is no space for parking except for underground. On the other hand public transport is quite prevalent.
Its about making real places. In the Netherlands, from what I understand, some modern standard residential streets have playgrounds and areas for the kids on the street to get out and play. Like, in the street, as part of the street, part of the neighbourhood. Cars are usually very limited or banned altogether iirc.
I didn’t say we had 0 playgrounds here, but I more meant at the place I live, in the ‘downtown’ if you can call it that, it has 0 playgrounds. And as he is making a mid rise place as we have here there shouldn’t be many playgrounds at most 1.
The amount of eye candy you cram into each episode is something I am not hating at all! 😊 It's a very cute town. Loved the night shots at the end from the bay. Gorgeous!
Great build. I'm a lot more keen on this AI build than the previous one. That was the perfect strip of land for it. I think it settles in quite well. The euro suburb nested in and up the hills is always a good look. And I noticed that tunneling the pedestrian path along side the road tunnel got the bikes flowing again.
Wow! I wasn't expecting this to look so good! I think this may be my favorite part of Orchid Bay so far. I'd love to see a first person tour through this part of the city.
The idea of using Chat GTP to help with creativity is exactly what I needed. I love Skylines but have zero creativity so always struggle to break my usual boring design. THANK YOU! My love for this game has been revived
Id love to see this used for a whole city. Maybe in c:s2 (when it comes out) you could attempt it, if you enjoy it. It adds a form of complexity to a build and its fun to see you strategizing to meet all AI requirements. Idk, just super fun overall.
liking this a lot! the only thing is to integrateof the old market street asset also, for the brooklyns and queens area near the cargo harbour, you should add some level 1 industrial evolution ccp buildings to compliment the brick of the buildings
I Iike the high density town and low density hillside. Great layout, but rough on the eyes with the mix match hotels along the coast line. Keep up the great little scenic town builds, great to see, not just one massive city. 👍
Loved the episode as all of them! It turned out beautiful. Suggestion time: Old Market Station instead of the RoJ one in the center. Please add schools and other infrastructure as game mechanics will be annoying later on Consider reviewing the road networks to see if they still function as intended.
Really cool build OE. Fan of these AI build ideas, they lay the template and let that Egg brain of yours do its magic. LOVE the views from the plaza squares that are wrapped by all the tall residential and commercial.
Great use of the fan zone/park for the central activity! I’d have maybe put the second rail station closer to the European Suburbia so it can serve those new residents
Literally just rename the fun zone park to concert grounds and it will function exactly as you want it to. Concert grounds usually have little stalls and stuff so looks pretty accurate.

Cute little town of Haven. - However there is some historical wrong with the two stations. Let's say the old town had the train running through it, hence the station in the centre would have been much older. Maybe, to make the Lore happy, the train company desided to expand an modify the old station and even changing the looks to what you placed. However then the secondary station would have been put in as a sort of bypass making this station much newer...so either the old station is in the town center or both stations are modern. 😉 ...and finally I think the people of Haven Hills would enjoy a small path running to the secondary station, so they don't have to cross the busy road.
Loove this area. The European high density looks good done in this way at least :) Can you move the flower bed plaza over a tile next to the fun zone? Driving my OCD nuts cos one of them is a tile off 😅 For such a broad mix of assets I think its come off really nicely! Does that train line need higher capacity trains now, or more vehicles?

Love the area, looks really good, btw if anyone would like a reference point to build something like this, I suggest looking into the Downtown of Savannah, GA, colonial riverside town, has numerous of the squares referenced by the ai, a waterfront (mostly) pedestrian zone of cobblestone, and honestly when seeing what the AI was saying, it very much reminded me of that city. *edit:* particularly look into the river street area and then the area that begins about 2 city blocks south of it
I don't like AI art, I consider it stealing, however this is not AI art, this is using AI as a tool for inspiration. Great build to fill an awkward space, keep it up
I think it did used to be possible to place another level 1 concert area after upgrading the first, I have done this... But I might have been using some mods like TPME so not 100% sure When did they add zoning adjuster to the base game?
Don't sell yourself short Egg. While the AI is a cool tool for you to use, I think you would have come up with something like this on your own. You create all kinds of creative little regions for your cities.
Oh yeah, the concerts areas placeable after upgrading the first one seemed to be bug that was dealt with the most recent updates... my mistake. I seem to have abused it in my cities until then !

Interesting build but I just don't like the European buildings in what is clearly a US style city. The difference is too jarring with the New England style Seaside Resort assets. The residential should be Victorian style homes. Using European Suburbia or even King Leno's university houses would be a better fit. Regardless, I still built a version of this into my take of Orchid Bay. Can't wait for the next video!
I really like this new area, good job Egg! Is there a Chinatown Like area in the city, If not, I think it would look good as an extension of the old area.

"Won't be for everyone this build" Well consider me not everyone then, 'cause this look magnificent! The AI overlord really outdid themselves with the inspiration for this one, but as always, it takes a genius to bring it all to life!
I know AI is like all the rage rn but man, its just like such a crutch for this build. There were plenty of cool ideas for this space in the comments of previous episodes, this style of episode just feels strange. Especially cause all these AIs are really just stealing ideas from the things they've been trained on. The finished product is quite nice, but still feels wrong. I'd not want to see AI episodes again in the future...
Humans are also stealing ideas from things they've been trained on most of the time. I agree that the forced use of AI is a bit strange, but most of the time I scroll through the comments or read the live chat the ideas are pretty bad aswell. If you mention AI you might get more views and following the comments builds more loyal fans to turn into patreon supporters, so I view both strategies somewhat cynically, but that may not be what he is thinking.
