JFC Nick is so ripped that his veins have arms. Also, I sincerely cannot comprehend how he manages to study medicine at Harvard, conduct original research, go to the gym and upload stuff to RU-vid regularly. I barely have enough energy to take care of my kids, do housework and ride my bike every now and then. Much respect. Re. the method he's following to get information out to the masses and provoking a conversation, I think he's finding the right balance.

@@ascarby Yes. All physicians MD / DO and doctors PhDs, thin or fat had great discipline to complete university and residency : ) Yes extra points for eating well, Nick has health issues so he creates himself bigger problems if he doesn't eat well. That tends to help people stay on track, of course not everyone. Now if he had at least a 16" bicep, at the same time, that would be impressive. Anything beyond 16" and 9% body fat becomes even more impressive for sure.

Great vid! Your results are not surprising. I've been doing a carnivore diet for 18 months where I haven't had a single grain of sugar (or fruits, veg, grains, oils) but eaten a ton of saturated animal fats, meat, eggs and dairy. Not quite as much butter as in your experiment but I do get through just under 1kg per week. Feel brilliant mentally and physically. Many issues in my body which I usually attribute to aging have reversed. My wife is off all anxiety meds (actually both off all meds - we're 54) and my mom's reversed type2 diabetes.

Just got my labs back after 1 year of keto … So my cholesterol is super duper high (as is my small particle ldl). Thankfully I have a ketogenic doctor that I’ll be seeing next month and he supports my carnivore diet. I know I may have heart disease from years of bad choices, but that’s life before carnivore. I do know now that it’s not because of my high fat carnivore diet. Can’t imagine how you pulled this butter experiment off! I can’t eat butter because it rips up my stomach, so just nice fatty ribeye and lamb! Never had GI problems until I went carnivore and was miserable for months until I finally took out the butter. It goes to show we all have to tweak our diet as we go along

As a Carnivore for a year now I would just like to add that not all butter is created equal. We use butter as a dip for home made beef jerky. We started with regular butter,BJs brand. A little too much and it upset the stomach. We switched to KerryGold and it was much better. After we found out about the lawsuit against Kerry we switched to Finlandia, much better and tastier. Next my girl found a butter called Plugra. By far and away the best butter I have ever eaten,it is 82% butter fat instead of 80. Yesterday she found a European butter Danish Creamery that was 85% butter fat and it just didn't compare to the Plugra. So as an amateur butter taster I just wanted to let you know that all butter is not created equally.

I have also done several of the experiments that you and your colleagues have done so that I can provide informed advice. you are at your best when you explain metabolic topics in layman's terms so that they understand the gist of what you are explaining, even if they cannot grasp all the details. your strategic advantage and strength is that you master biochemistry and human metabolism, which is very important during your medical studies, allowing you to become a healer instead of a prescriber! your clips from the past few weeks have been very professionally produced, without sacrificing technical depth. my day brightens up every time I see that you've put a new video online :)

First 3 months I lost 5 inches off my waist, all my visceral fat from my years as a Vegan. I used to be an active cyclist and had a body like yours. Ripped and low body fat. My body was ruined by the vegan diet. But in just those 3 months of beef, eggs, cheese, bacon, butter, and no fruits, vegetables, grains, no seed oils....I can see my abs again.....at 58! Remarkable recovery! I never felt better in 10 years. Avoid carbs, starches, and sugars! Stick to natural saturated animal fats for fuel!

thanks :)... the former reaction seems inevitable at a certain scale, but I'm shocked by how small a minority it appears... I try my best, as explain in the latter half... this is all about learning, growing, reflecting on the "tools" I have at hand

I understand having to try things to grow the channel and get the info out there. As long as your content remains balanced, I think the "click bait" is not a big deal.

There’s something to ketogenic macro routines when it comes to calories. I’ve gotten away with 10%ish more calories on both a ketogenic and cyclical ketogenic approach to maintain weight when compared to a mixed diet to maintain. Keto will always be my go to for ‘cutting.’ Just my experience.

Nick, I am so happy that you keep getting more viewers. I have been with you since nearly the beginning and am always inspired and educated by your videos. Keep up the good work and keep those newbies coming. BTW, I am 81 years old and have had type 2 diabetes for more than 20 years. I keep my numbers in the normal range because of lifestyle.

I suspected the outcome. I think it may work chronically as well as short term. I used to eat butter aggressively in a more ketogenic phase, and I believe I was my leanest. My hypothesis is the mechanism is reduced insulin secretion overall as a result of increased dietary fat. I'm higher protein now relative to dietary fat, and I think I have gained muscle and very slightly more fat, though almost anyone would say I am lean. I'm essentially zero carb in both phases, so zero carb remains constant. I went from roughly 80/85% dietary fat & 15/20% dietary protein to 60/65% dietary fat & 35/40% dietary protein. Added fat was butter, most protein is hamburger, eggs, a bit of cheese, a bit of salmon or shrimp. Exercise & activity level non-variable as well. A bit of showmanship in your videos I think is a good idea. Thanks for what you do and Cheers!

I agree with some others below. It is not the click bait that keeps me coming back but the honesty and science. There is enough click bait already on the internet and I usually just ignore them. It is because you are honest and try to make science relatable that your channel is going to grow to be very large. I will admit that I do enjoy some of your humor and it makes me laugh!!

Great content. We need more people thinking outside the box. This will lead to more questions and therefore more answers. Metabolism is complex and there is so much we don’t know.

Hey Nick keep it as it is, as always very interesting and informative. I personally watch every video of yours and Dave’s. On a calories 🟰 weight perspective I have recently been checking my diet and I regularly log around 1000 calories more than would be my target on cronometer but my weight is very stable. I’m low carb, high protein and fat.

I am also on the skinny no matter what I eat side of the force. I thought I had short biceps but you got me there. Genetic rules can make getting "big" a lot harder, or almost impossible. I question how much of our aesthetic preferences for a partner are also genetictly based. I doubt you have chubby preferences, but that might be too personal and certainly out of your scope for this video. And I'm sure you hit someone's preferences right on the dot. Nice vid.

You’re doing great, Nick! I enjoy that you keep things entertaining and fun along with keeping the core value of your channel, which is one based on integrity of information sans personal agenda to influence. There are other informative channels that I follow, while I appreciate the content, is so dry and boring that I have a hard time watching. Your channel is valuable and a refreshing change!! 👏
