A giant room with picnic styled seating is the Texas Barbeque equivalent of seeing Dragon Ball merch at a Mexican styled restaurant, YOU KNOW you're gonna get amazing food from there
Deadass I was in Colombia recently and the most insanely good food I had was from a ramshackle street card with bootleg pictures of Wario playing futbol. You know when copyright infringement is thrown to the wind that the vendor only truly really cares about the food lol.
“Since it’s such a big chain it should represent traditional Texas barbecue” 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀 You don’t go to chains at all for good barbecue I’m gonna cry
@@Bobspineable maybe because theres no other place nearby selling BBQ around dickey's ? thats why ppl keep coming there because theres no other option nearby and they stay afloat with that dry meat
Your video made me cry! I have been going to Southside for all long as I can remember, half my family is buried there in the main cemetery. My dad would always take us there to eat. Seeing the old location brought back so many fond and wonderful memories. You missed their pork steaks... but, nothing beats their sausage. YUM!!! I have been craving Southside... now! I know I have to make the 3 hour trek there and back! Thank you!!!
Going to Texas for 'Cue and eating at Dickeys would be like going to Italy for Pizza and eating at Pizza Hut. Heck, I bet you would have gotten better 'Cue from that Buck-Ees than from Dickeys.
Unironically Buc-ee's is significantly better than Dickey's. If you used a standard bell-curve, Buc-ee's is the definition of a 5.0 on the scale, and Dickey's sits at around a 3.1, maybe even a bit lower
Why did Kenny look like Chuck Norris long long-lost brother? I would trust him with my life. Never had Texas BBQ or thought about it but I now want to. I need find a cowboy hat. 🤠
The amount of hours it takes to cook meat. That's hard work and dedication. The barbecue at the second spot looked delicious. I love how you sum up the history. I learn better the way you explain it. Lmao 😅😂
Recently discovered your videos and I've been loving your food recommendations!! Sadly I don't live in Texas at the moment, but I would try whatever you say is good there!! 🤩
Yeah, I agree.Gi to Smitty,s Black,s Kreutz,s think there is Chisolm Trail BbQ. San Antonio has Bill Miller,s BbQ chain. Salt Lick in Dripping Springs or is it Driftwood, TX.Then there,s Franklins in Austin
As a chef it’s genuinely so refreshing seeing you taking the time to interview the pit masters, learn their techniques, and share the history of these restaurants. Major props!!
No south side in Elgin has the best sausage!!I will die on this hill. (I’m definitely bias since I was raised there) although they changed their sweet bbq sauce awhile back and I was sad
Dylan is so underrated! in a world of controversial RU-vidr's and social media personalities, he gives us pure content. I genuinely love this guy, hes always welcome at my cookouts!
Dicky's which I've had reminds me sadly of Virginia BBQ company it's for people that don't really understand BBQ it's like comparing Baltimore pit beef with Arbys it's a labor of love that's what makes it great
fragrance is considered one of way to make food delicious even though only using basic seasoning. its more delicate way than direct seasonings but its using technique thats harder than pouring powdered seasonings so not everyone who doesnt have the tools and fragrant woods can do it
I love your content, it's fun and interesting to see all the places you go. I live in the west Phoenix, AZ area, there is a Dickie's here, it was atrocious!!! I'm a meat and potatoes kind of girl, so I kind of had what you had there, plus I had the mac'n'cheese, 🤮. They actually seasoned (over) EVERYTHING on the menu with liquid smoke, I was tasting that stuff for days after that. I thought that it would be different if I got it IN Texas, I guess not, lol. 😂
I can’t believe you’re in your young 20s. Your production skills are unbelievable. I am not interested in this topic at all but watched this entire video. Incredible editing and pacing. Subbed!
You’re not too far, you need to go to Lone Oak and try Duncan BBQ. Only open Thursday-Sunday and make sure to get there early because they usually run out of meat by Sunday!
I lived in llano and i can say, my dad inspected the meat and everything at coopers from 2007 or 8 to 2011 when he went down hill from cancer. Coopers and millers is the shit! I miss that place but unfortunately ive gotten told if i come back ill get hurt. Sad but memories never die with me and my dad there.
Very diff from Texas bbq but how bout finding the best French restaurant in Vegas? It has a large selection and I believe two popular ones are closing end of this year. If you’re willing to spend $$$ you gotta try Robuchon, its one I’ve always wanted to try
I lived in Dallas for 3 years during the start of the central Texas style bbq boom. I never ate Dickey’s when I lived there since everyone told me not to. They opened one out here in so cal where I moved back to and it was only open a year. I tried it once and it was just horrible. One thing you need to realize is that BBQ in Texas is as wide and diverse in style as the state is with culture and people. The most popular brisket based bbq is Central Texas style like Franklin, Snows, Kreutz. Etc… I highly recommend you read Prophets of Smoked Meat by Daniel Vaughn who is bbq editor for Texas Monthly. Granted, that book is over ten years old but it has great insight into how bad bbq is across the state. And some good stuff of course.
I would’ve went for the loaded baked potato and that’s about it. That meal was definitely over priced and under delivered. Still, an amazing video as always my guy 🫶🏼 Keep killing it ♥️
As a former Qstoves user, making the switch to Asmoke has significantly improved my grilling experience! The precision temperature control that Asmoke offers has really changed the game. I can set and maintain my desired cooking temperature and not have to worry about constantly monitoring it. It's also great that it's portable, perfect for any outdoor outing. Plus, the fact that it's battery-powered and offers up to 10 hours of runtime is such a convenience, especially during camping trips. The ASCA™ technology and FlameTech patent truly make a difference in the cooking results too - everything comes out perfectly cooked! And let's not forget about the distinct smoky flavor the pellets give to the food. I'm excited to try out different flavors of wood pellets in the future! #Asmoke
I totally agree. I had Texas barbecue for an entire week and couldn't find anything that lives up to the hype Texans give. I had the best barbecue in Oakland, and los Angeles California
