I have been doing this for a long time, but hear is another way to try this. First turn your canvas the other way so you pull towards you instead of try to swipe side ways. More control that way, also wait 10 mins in between your swipes the paint is thick and will not dry that fast but it will get tacky and you will still get a blend but it leaves more gaps or separations of the colors previously put on. You can use different sizes of scrapers and you can do the same with wide or narrow brushes. Great stuff though very fun to do, good job!

I was watching you struggle with the tubes. I learned decades ago scraping a tube of toothpaste from bottom up, with the edge of a credit card, would yield another week's worth of brushings, and you just might get another tablespoon of paint out of the tubes. Luvin' your art...

Nice. I agree a few layers before final was a good place to stop . But since it is still wet, would have been curious what it would look like by scraping it vertical , lightly and playing with uneven textures... i am a newly tho...so no idea.

wish you would come back, good stuff, no one else doing every man painting, and your commentary is great. one thing i haven't see you try, is let the first layer dry slightly, acrylics dry quickly and the viscosity will create more of an oil effect, just a thought.

This is the first video I watched of Coty's. I swear I thought that the metal plate he used as scraper was the actual painting at first. Until I heard the clunk of the paint dropped on it that is... You have to admit that it has gone through a similar squeegee process as a Richter canvas. BUT I wonder if it would make a difference using oil paint instead of acrylic?

I think Gerhard Richter has certainly produced some extraordinary paintings and his understanding of color takes your breath away, but I cannot get it out of my head that his squeegee painting was sold for 41 million dollars. Squeegee painting can obviously produce abstract work that competes with a painted canvas, but here is my point. Squeegee art, whether you like it or not is really factory art. Richter could have hired factory workers to crank out squeegee paintings weeks on end until they finally got one he felt he could put his name on. What am I getting at? I think we have to call a spade a shovel: Jeff Koons is the number one highest paid artist in the world (check your sources) and his sculptures are contracted out to factories and all Jeff does is put his name on one of his 'balloon dogs' for example, and rake in millions of dollars. He sold a sculpture to Trump's former Secretary of the Treasury's father for 70 million dollars and he never had a hand in making it. It was made by factory workers. Does anyone see where I am going on this? You cannot knock success, but I think the minute you are using techniques like squeegee or allowing others to construct your sculptures and art, then t becomes 'technician-made-art' or something like that. I mean, 41 million dollars for a painting you literally had no idea of what it would look like when you put your squeegee on it is in my way of thinking, not really fine art; it's factory art. But let's face it; people are willing to fork out millions of dollars for technician-made piece of art from Richter and Koons and others...
