Ahh who doesn't like a good gaming challenge. In today's video I challenged myself to not leave the town in Kenshi. In a sandbox game you normalle go out and enjoy the tons of content the game has to offer, but not today! This is a walkthrough on how I got rich in Kenshi, starting as a Hiver (Not even Beep!). In this Kenshi Challenge, I show you the playthrough you never know you even wanted! (Kenshi Mods used, be warned!)

Kenshi is a great game. It's hard to pinpoint what it is. It has survival elements, but also great base building and character development. It has some similarities with Rimworld, but at the same time not at all. It's cheap, almost always on sale and there are tons of mods in the workshop for it. Check it out!

To get rich without ever leaving the city (no save scumming either): -Start in Heng -Let guard beat the shit out of outlaw peasants/creatures wandering the gates -Loot everything you can -Save 10k cats -Gain access to the shinobi tower -Train to stun, picklock -Go around at night, picklock access to stores, stun people in their bed and steal stuff (less chances to be spotted if they're KO) -Sell to the shinobi vendor -Repeat 2 last steps ad infinitum (Buy houses to store stuff if the shinobi trader didn't restock money yet) Obviously it's easier with a skeleton since you don't need food

Here's a trick for selling stolen goods esp. in Heft: the skeleton doctor is a member of the Skeletons faction, whereas all the other vendors in town are members of the United Cities faction. This means you can steal from anyone in town and sell to the skeleton doctor, or steal from the skeleton Dr and sell to anyone else in town without them recognizing that the goods are stolen. His store is easy to rob if you do it at night when he can't see you. You can even do it during the day if you have a second character to distract him. Run the second character in first and have them run to the back of the store, so that when he turns to look at them, he turns away from the door. If your thievery skill is too low to take anything from the containers in the store, you can still take the stuff off the shelves. This is a very easy way to make anywhere from a couple thousand to tens of thousands of cats on day one, even if you only have one dipshit character with no skills. This is how I start most of my rock bottom saves.

@@DrMalbin I know im necroposting but this fact is just too funny to pass up: You can just steal from him in plain sight where he can see you. After you run away and come back he'll like you again because you won't accrue a bounty from stealing from him. just don't do it in front of the guards I think, so just close the door to his shack while you do it and run away if he starts beating you up.

The reason those prisoners didn’t join you is because the samurai guards are assigned a dialogue package in Recruit Prisoners that makes them demand a lot of money for them join you. I also believe you could’ve used a crossbow locker to launder most/all stolen items in the game, but that might’ve been patched at this point. Should try this again in a different city. Mourn and Mongrel should be quite doable, I also think Shark or some of the swamp villages should be pretty doable as well. I really enjoyed your video.

Glad you liked it! Gotta try the crossbow container out, didn't know it could do that too. Just curious, what makes Mourn and Mongrel better cities to try this challenge in?

@@DrMalbin They both have access to Iron mines, and I think you can also make iron plates in both of them or at the very least you can in Mourn. They're certainly more interesting in the way that Mongrel is constantly being attacked by Fogmen and Mourn can have random Beak Things wander into it. Swamp villages and Shark have access to Riceweed and Hemp pretty frequently and frequently see Bloodspider attacks too. Stack has either an Iron mine or Copper mine right behind the Station house that Seta is in. The hardest towns that would still be doable would be ones like The Hub. No mines inside town, no well, no farms, not a whole lot of people to rob and sell stuff too, only 1 shop that sells any kind of crafting materials... You would frequently run into the problem of having to wait for the Bar to restock on goods. Now if you really wanted to something interesting you could make a modified start that starts you in the Crab Village in Stobes Garden (or any one of the other minor faction locations that actually has usable stuff in them) and use the mod that allows you to buy most of the buildings in the game.

You can rob the robot vendor blind for insane loot. Also, it would have been amazing to break out of jail and loot things only to sneak back into jail before morning for the whole sentence.

I remember doing the same type of game, but it was practically with no thievery involved. Mostly getting my money through the mass sale of Sake, Grog and Rum and then armor and weapon crafting. And I mostly RP-ed as a private enterprise which slowly took over all the city proprieties.
