Written and directed by Vanessa Gatlin, "I Belong To God" is from the choir's 1999 album, "I Belong To God".
The song was originally recorded by Mattie Moss Clark & The UNAC Choir in 1982 on their album, "A Song Is Born 75th Diamond Celebration Volume One". Karen Clark Sheard also ad-libs on the song. To listen to the original, visit my blog:

1ST jurisdiction Mass Choir and I was in the Soprano section!!!! Great Memories. 1st Lady Vanessa Gatlin was and still is a great mentor. Lord, the memories...USAC in Lafayette, LA, Call meeting in Alexandria, LA, March Convocation in Bossier City, LA...the choir was always lit!

This song always brings me to tears... It is soo emotional... I do belong to HIM, from the top of my head - to the soles of my feet. I love everyone in this choir, because they are so cognizant of the purpose of the song. They did their best and it shows

Our youth and little Kwow children sing it to but the Adult Chios sing a lot of the songs the leaders write V Michael McKay write also Michael Green and Kenny (G) we call him!! Omg I forgot Dr. Michael McFrazier as well...TCWW is blessed to be among the Mega Churches as is this Church with such gifts!! 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 Thanks for sharing...

This is memory lane for me. I love this piece written by Ms. V. Gatlin. The Lord truly anointed her with this song. This piece makes one have to move. I had dental surgery today and someone asked about this song. I was paining but her this and had to at least wave my hands. Brings back my choir days.

Oh wow haven't heard this song in a long time it was originally recorded July 1982 by The Church of God In Christ previously called The U.N.A.C. Workshop Choir it was our 75th Diamond celebration what a time we had in those days. I see they put a different twist on it and they look as if they are having as much fun with this song as we did back then. A lot of choirs everywhere sang this song with the same drive and spirit nice thanks for posting....

Thanks Fred for your post and to answer your question , I may not look old school but that is where I came from I am not offended at all by your comment and yes the scripture did record Corinthians 11:14 but it also recorded Proverbs 4:7 Wisdom is the principle thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

It was according to to the dedication and belief of a particular group of people who made a covenant with god about your comment, we are not to use the word of God to attack or humiliate each other God don't have an issue with my hair it's not in his way after all didn't Sampson's parent's make a covenant with God to not cut his hair?

I love it!! I remember singing this song in my youth choir. We sang another rendition but it was our favorite! I didn't realize it at the time but it's a powerful affirmation for young people!! You sing it enough and it'll get locked up in your head. It'll become your conviction! And fast forward to 2022, I still have the same confession, I BELONG TO GOD!!
