I didn’t experience my first love who was also my first actual boyfriend until I was 24. I’ve had your same exact feelings of never having been in love but, let me tell you, experiencing it for the first time as an adult who has done a lot of inner work is so beautiful. As cliche as it is, when it happens for you, you’re gonna be so grateful you didn’t settle for bullshit. We’re no longer together but I will always look back on that relationship with love because it validated that the wait is worth it

I really feel you Maddie. I have very similar feelings about love because I’ve also never experienced a real loving relationship, most of my experiences with men are sexual or it’s super casual. I don’t know if I’m in the space to be in a serious relationship right now, but knowing that when I am ready that I will be a grown and mature woman who will be able to live at my fullest capacity is refreshing.

When I went to Paris a few years ago I had bright orange hair & I wear a lot of dark makeup & clothes so I felt you on the sticking out like a sore thumb part lol. Your trip reminds me of my solo trip to Paris a few years ago! I’ve now traveled to 17 countries alone and there is nothing more fulfilling than traveling on your own and doing whatever you want! On every trip I get homesick, but the self reflection you experience in your hotel room bed after walking around a city on the other side of the world is unmatched. Keep this up! Solo travel is the best therapy. You can do anything!

I relate so deeply to the experience of growing up undesired and never having felt romantic love until adulthood. I'm in a long-term relationship currently with a man whom I love and loves me and the ways in which I have grown and had to learn to love and be loved have been difficult but ultimately incredible. I often feel like I'm the only person in the world who is loud and hyper when they're restless or on edge, and then is quiet and silent when they're actually feeling comfortable and relaxed, so seeing my own emotions reflected like that in your video really hit hard
I have always related so deeply to you - aside from my name also being Maddie :) I am 24, single, live alone with my cat, and have never been in love or been loved. I have been on a similar journey of allowing myself to be emotionally available to let the right person in. I have been in therapy for awhile now and have done so much work on healing and improving myself. When I get down about being chronically single I just remind myself that when I do finally fall in love, they will fall in love with the best version of myself. The most peaceful and enlightened and calm version of myself. And I get excited knowing that when the time comes, the hard work I’m doing now will allow me to fully enjoy that stage of my life. Xx 💖

I've lived in Paris for 15 years plus now and I'm inspired by your grace and confidence in this city! I still struggle to eat here alone, I can end up walking for ages and never finding anywhere that feels 'safe' to settle and enjoy myself. In the end I've kind of accepted it's not really something that works well for me, and that I enjoy walking alone the best :-) happy travels for the future!

I don’t need to wait until my friends want to, or until I have a partner. I can do it when I want, on my terms. And the last two days I’ve been walking around beaming bc i’m so happy and i’m so so proud of myself for doing this. And i’m proud of you!!!!

I didn’t meet my person until I was 25, he’s the first romantic partner I’ve ever told I loved or felt such love for and its so meaningful to me in hindsight knowing that I saved it for the person I really wanted to say it to. Also side note: as someone who fully used to semi make fun of people for sitting on the same side of the booth I am now fully that girl and I love it. I guess it’s just because both of our love languages are physical touch so when we are together we like to be as close as we can!

We've been so trained to see things in a negative light. To be able to word things positively and to be excited for the things we haven't had yet is something we weren't taught to do. It can be a tough pill to swallow to know we could have been doing that all along if someone taught us. I think being able to see love as something to look forward to was a beautiful reminder that we can think that way too.
