Hey Gem Fam! So, I just did a thing - I dropped $281 on a whole bunch of rocks, gemstones, and minerals because, why not? We're going to explore this treasure trove together, and I'm not gonna lie, I'm super excited. Imagine all the colors and sparkles we're about to witness. In this video, I'm showing off each piece from my haul, talking about my plans to tumble, cut, and yes, share some of these beauties with you. Because what's a treasure if you can't share it, right?
Now, you might be wondering, "Why should I watch some person geek out over rocks?" Well, first of all, because rocks are awesome. But also, because I'm planning to do some pretty cool stuff with them, like tumbling and cutting them open to see what's inside. It's like a surprise party where everyone's invited.
If you're here for the gems, the laughs, or just because you're procrastinating on something else, consider hitting that subscribe button. Let's make this a regular hangout spot!
Don't be shy in the comments! Let me know your favorite type of gemstone, or just drop in to say hi. I genuinely love hearing from you guys.
Shout out to my awesome patrons: Jonathan Laurer, Ancient Soul, Michael Trudell, Ellie Mayne, Lisa Sierras, Cooper Moon, Rick, Jennifer M, Kevin Kloth, Julia Shoemake, Herbert Wilson-I truly appreciate your support!

Love that crazy lace. I'd love to see a bunch of polished slabs, so we can see all the little details inside. I wouldn't want to tumble it, you'd lose too much of the stone that way, and every bit of it is so cool! Same thing with the sarape jasper.

If your large chunk of Crazy Lace Agate were mine, I would slab it on All sides to open up the hidden interior patterns. What fun! What do you use all your tumbled stones for? In all the years I bought stones: rough, slabs or chunks on occasion, I never tumbled them, as I prefered slabbing so I could then cut interesting shapes for creating handcrafted jewelry.

I've definitely spent more money for worse reasons, and honestly I may do something like this soon. I've finally got my tumblers set up and going again after moving last fall, so we'll see how these first couple of runs go. Seriously though, some of these are and/or are going to be absolutely gorgeous by the time you're done with them. Very good haul for the price, honestly. For the bigger pieces that you were stressing about whether to slab or cut up into tumbling sized pieces, honestly I'd say do both. Take two or three slabs from the parts with the most character and then chunk up the rest to throw in the tumbler. I mean, if you get into the first couple of cuts and it's just cool enough that you want more slabs with that patterning, then that's your call of course. You really don't know until you get in there. Either way, I can't wait to see how these turn out

you'd love the natural jasper formations you get on the east coast of australia. there are beaches where i pick up polished bright red stones that you could stick a price tag on and sell as-is. the sand and the water polish them for you, and the gently eroding cliffs reveal bands of jasper and quartz, even the occasional fossil.

When I was about 10, I got a small single drum Rock Tumbler for Christmas.. I never asked for it. I had no idea you could polish your own rocks. I guess I always liked to buy the little cloth bag of colorful polished rocks in near by Glacier Park.. maybe thats why I got a Rock Tumber for Christmas..LOL When you're that age... Rock tumbling took an eternity, but my dad was just as interested as I was.. he did most of the work. AND then, his brother brought us some Apache Tears, that he had actually hunted in the fields, since we are somewhat Volcanic area. Those were very cool to me. Sooooooo, I'm retiring soon and I decided to buy a double 3lb tumbler, and bought some rough stones on Amazon to tumble. Only in the first week, I'm due to open them up today.. AND, when your this age.. a week went by in 2 seconds..Hahahaha So it will be very fun, I hope. I would like reccomendations on supplies and where to buy the best rocks. I'll search your site of course.. Looking forward to seeing all that there is to enjoy about Rocks. Keep the videos coming. Montana Dave

Have you ever rock hunted or gotten any rocks from Little Rock Arkansas? My grandmother and aunt moved there when I was little and I used to find so many crystals and loved to find ugly skinned rocks to break open and find gorgeous crystals inside and some were like agates...not being old enough to know anything about minerals I can't say for sure. But I know that there are some awesome rocks to be found there. Arkansas also has a diamond field that the public can dig in...and it produces. I always wanted to go but never got to go. My favorite rock always was the pink quartz that was common in our driveway. I still have one...just one from my childhood that I had put in my old jewelry box. I hope I still have it...but it's in my memories if not. This was soooo fun! You are a wealth of knowledge and I can't wait to see more of what you have in your collection. My favorite thing to do is to watch opal rubbing with Justin from Black Opal Direct...all his come from Lightening Ridge Australia. I enjoy other channels for rock hounds too. So I'm a new sub to your channel!

Hey! I went looking for Rockhounding stones in NW Ont. the other day & found this vid - have watched a few more since & Subscribed. Was really pleased to see another f as crazed about rocks as I am. Although I see there are a few of us. Always great to find like minded ppl. You really know stones. I've always been a beachcomber & got into stones more when I lived in SW Ont for a few yr's. Beachcombing pebbles on the Canadian shores of Lake Huron further ignited my interest in rockhounding. As you're in MN, have you beach combed Lakes Superior or Michigan? L. Superior is supposed to be the spot for agates. I picked a few fossils off L Huron, I believe Petoskey, Bryozoans or Favosites, Stromatolites as examples, Sea Glass too. I also picked a few tiny & larger rounded or oval beach pebbles as they had been shaped & smoothed by the waves. And of course I then started scouring driveways, garden stones etc. Some I cannot identify, those are gorgeous. Can't fig out if they/some are quartzite, mica schist, muscovite mica schist, schist, etc - all sparkly & diff colours. I haven't gotten my own tumbler but thinking some of these might be amazing tumbled. An aside. I might be way off and if I am please forgive - don't mean to creep you out. As I watched this vid (1st one of your vids I've seen) I felt something about your look seemed familiar. I have a cousin Sonja who has a few granddaughters. And that lil bit of info is probably enough to see if I was thinking right. Ok, enough for now. Related or not - ty for your vids, knowledge & enthusiasm! Enjoyed the vids I've seen so far and find them helpful.

I just spent $400 on rocks at the Rock Shed. If you love rock tumbling like I do, it's money well spent. I wash my rocks off before they go in the tumble, as well. You can see the patterns & colors better, plus you get the dust & litter bits off them
