I do mine... But only for the fact that I don't play with games or design 100% of the time. Keep the PC working when I'm eating, sleeping, walking, or buying groceries. That small passive few dollars a day equals a 3D printer, which will also be working passively, making things to sell or saving me from finding or hand making brackets and fasteners that are obscure or don't exist. I wouldn't mind finding a sell off of cards, because I need to build at least two more gaming rigs for family. My biggest loss in the last year was giving away a gtx1070, when I upgraded to a rtx2070. Who knew $200 cards would become unobtanium. Maybe while I wait to build those rigs, I'll print some fidget toys for them instead... ( _That's the new hype these days it seems..._ )

I bought a RX580 from a 3rd hand, 1st owner was a miner, 2nd was a gamer and he claimed he had no problem with the card. Well, under stress, the card was loud, crashed, reached 75+ °C really soon, etc. I disassembled the card, the thermal paste turned into solid after years under all that load. I replaced thermal paste, thermal pads, undervolted and the card run much quiter, much cooler and even boosted further than before. I bought it for like $80, so I was really happy with it.

I've tried looking for local deals but there just aren't any around where I live sadly.

$100aus for a rig with a 1200watt PSU and MB/CPU... That's a steal. I'm doing pretty well here in the states. Just picked up 6x RTX 2080ti mining rig, $800 a piece. They were (-87) FTW3's too. These 6 2080ti's will fit nicely in the 6 rigs i already built 2 months ago. 3 $250 9900K's with 3 $150 z390 Aorus Masters and 3 10700K's for $250 with 3 Z490-E's from ASUS for $230 each. Corsair had a sale on its older Platinum series 280m AIO's for a $150 a piece. So those 9900K's won't have an issue gaming at an all core 5GHz-5.2GHz. Had 4 16GB kits of the 3200CL14-14-14-34 GSkill FLARE X that OC's to 4133CL17 and 2 16GB kits of 4000MHz Micron Elite from Crucial, which has the thermal sensors (the GOOD stuff). Got all 6 of those kits for $320. 3 CORSAIR Obsidian Series 500D RGB SE cases and 3 500D's all with CORSAIR HXi Series HX850i's with the LINK power monitoring software (who needs a killawatt). Those are $350 PSU's. Got those for about $200 a piece. All 6 cases and PSU's only cost me 2K. (I know a guy). Well worth it. To top'em all off each one has a 1TB Sammy 970evo M.2 NVme boot drive with a set of Win10Pro pre-installed and 6 4TB Western Digital 7200RPM storage drives. Each system has a few AAA killers also pre-installed like CP2077, RDR2, the latest 4 RE series included with Village to round out the games so the buyer can set up and start gaming, even without an Internet connection. Not only that but each one comes with a 27in or 32in (which ever is preferred) 1440p144Hz IPS/VA (G-SYNC and Freesync Premium) panels from LG with RAZOR peripherals. I have about 10K invested in these 6 complete 8c16t 2080ti builds. Not2shabby. Got 2 buyers already lined up and and have $4800 of it ready coming back to me. Those 32in LG IPS monitors are $800 a piece retail but, i also have the VA's that go for less than half that. LG's VA's are very nice so don't be dissuade from getting one. Most buyers go for the 32in VA. Though, in today's market. I don't think $2500-$2800usd is asking to much for what you get here.

4GB card can't mine ETH anymore and all the alt coins it can mine are heavily core or/and memory intensive. Also since Polaris cards are not efficient like NAVI/AMPERE cards, they are burning ton of energy despite still being very profitable. That person simply did not do his/her homework properly sadly.

also those mining motherboards goes for 500-600 usd. you can EASILY sell them to a miner pre built for like 1k USD

You must have incredible patience to go through all this and make PCs to sell. That's a lot of testing, organising, and re-intalling etc.

That corsair 1200W is a digital PSU, they're really high quality, you might want to hold on to that.

Fun fact about Ethereum mining at that time..... when the DAG Epoch exceeded 4gb, this not only made 4gb cards obsolete, but this also made a large sum of ASIC mining devices obsolete. This accounted for about 150TH/s. Newer ASIC mining devices were released by Innosilicon..... but this ultimately accounted for around 150TH/s. At Ethereum's peak, the total hashrate was at 1100TH/s..... and ASICs accounted for 150TH/s to 200TH/s of that. 900TH/s? that's a lot of working graphics cards.

Tbh a 3060ti mined me 0,25 eth over 2 months which now is roughly $800. The return on these cards is pretty fast. However if Ethereum goes to shit your profits evaporate.

Most serious miners started swapping out all 4gb cards back in late 2019... any miner that is still trying to use 4gb cards since Jan 2020 is usually a part time miner or hobbyist. - Not sure if Brian has checked the rewards on Eth mining today, or yesterday or Sunday or even last Friday but 72 360tis is doing $1130 US a day right now as of noon on May 11th... it was even higher last Friday than today. Soooo then there is that.... also with EIP 1559 creeping up you are starting to see the Eth price head towards $5k..... the price will be baked in the market when EIP reduction hits in July

That`s not true... you cant mine on a 4gb card. with the latest coded, ether requires 4.2gb. Where i am there are plenty of cheap 4gb 570s and 580s and also 3gb 1060.

One hell of a deal, there, mate. The prices I am and gave been seeing up here in the Great White North are about 4 times as much for new and 2.5 or so for used, if available. BTW CAD and AUD are pretty similar compared to USD.

Man, that poor miner has to be kicking himself right now since Ethereum Classic just became insanely profitable to mine with 4GB cards! Which goes to show you that no, no miners do not know anything the rest of us don't know and they're not about to start selling off all their cards. That miner is missing out on like $60-100/day now. I was lucky enough to find my Dell Precision T1600 and a sale on RX 570 8GB cards back in very early 2020 and I bought one for my T1600 in preparation for the first of several lockdowns. Now the local shop I got my RX 570 is out of pretty much everything except GT 710s.

I mine on the side and I don't know what is happening this week with etherium mining, but profits have doubled for me. A couple of weeks ago profits were dropping and I saw a few folks drop out. As an FYI, I find this whole mining thing strange and it feels like we're just making money out of thin air but I just wanted to give it a try since I had a bunch of 3090s just sitting around collecting dust. there are some 470 480 570 and 580 that have 8gb memory on them but its disabled by the firmware while cleaning you can check if the memory is on there and flash the 8gb bios on it

Now we need that kinda luck here in the US. Sadly the old card I have in my system is now going for $200 USD when it should be more like 60-75 maybe. Six months ago i could have bought a GTX 1070 for around $200 USD, and that is one hell of a step up from my card. Im glad to see at least there might be the beginnings of a light at the end of the tunnel.

As much as I have seen dozens of vídeos, I cannot get used to driving in the "wrong" side of the road.

Many people who heavily mine, will clean the card before selling it. I have seen many cases where people will simply run a card into the ground, basically targeting a specific hash rate and finding the minimum fan speed to maintain it since they don't want to waste any TGP on cooling if possible, in order to maximize profits. This often means that they keep the cards running very hot, since even if you run a card at its thermal limits, it will still handle that bearing for 2 years or so if needed. The issue is when they go to sell it and the buyer finds that on some games, the boost clock speed is unstable, even with good temperatures. They just ran the cards hard ant hot and degraded the GPUs rapidly. Many people will also lie about the use, e.g., mining for 6 months, often means that they were mining for 2 years before removing the heatsink, washing it with soap and water, and dusting everything else off, and reassembling it.

I have that Asus RX 570 when it was newly released, bought new but went dark after only few days. Returned, got fixed, but broken again after few weeks. Still in warranty that time and I could've ask for fix again but I was too lazy to do that, and I already bought an RX 580 anyway to replace it. So I wrote it as a loss (at least I got two bonus game keys) and store it as non-working piece. Kinda regret it now, since I could have sold it for profit or keep it as back-up.

I like the resurgence of older hardware for more affordable entry level gaming pc's. We're not all oil prince's.

Think mining will always be a thing just die down a little as more people will mine with their pcs at night just to get a bit of money to the electricity bill if anything. I currently leave my server pc and old laptop to mine 24/7 when they aren't in use and then my main pc on during the night to warm up the house and while it's not millions of bucks it's still 100$ per month give or take. Otherwise, keep up the great videos!

The RX 570's were a great deal! In the US, I have been having good luck picking up Precision workstations cheap! I actually have 3 of them now! Nothing better than finding powerful, well built systems for cheap! Me and my son have nice systems for a change and I even sold two Optiplex systems. Life is good!

Well, I bought 6 Vegas 56 from a miner to mine myself, and tbqh they were the cards that have given me the least headaches so far save from the cards that were brand new or already my own. They all came clean and worked flawlessly so far, whereas the gamer cards I bought often clocked and mined worse, and needed to be cleaned and often had stripped screws that were a pain to remove.

Yeah Brian my only issue building systems has. Been video cards. I even build retro 486 and Pentium machines and tho machines I got at psu easier Haa. I seen your recycling video and I know a recycling center to dumper dive at I even know when fedex throws out packages they can’t ship. I got my 2 Msi gtx 1070 gaming x 8gb for my 6700k spare rig for sli a few years back from a miner

The 570 4gb are still profitable to run. I mine on mine when not gaming and get about $1,5 per day, not much but it's always something. But sure if you have a large stock it's probably better to sell now when prices on cards are high and invest them in new cards that can mine Etherium.

I don't know about 2nd hand market but, in my country, we used to have nothing save a GT 710 here and there and now wqe do have RX 550 - 580 to 6900Xt + 3060 to 3080 in stock all the time. Prices are still insane but they are not flying off shelves anymore so we can hope maybe?
