Honestly the white balance on the old camera is WAY better than his current one. WAY too "red" for the white balance on the current camera. That and this will sound weird but there's less distracting reverb on the old camera's mic as well. The latter may just be nostalgia but the former really is better in terms of white balance.

So yeah cant really compare a 25£ digital camera which can be used to take thousands and thousands of pictures without any cost to a 10$nz disposable camera...

No joke, there's actually a video on RU-vid where a guy got suckered by the White Van Speaker scam (speakers in very pretty boxes that are full of lies, and have an listed MSRP of around $2500 but sold for a few hundred dollars by guys on parking lots), and took them apart. Yeah, I was about to say the same thing. I have a dashcam that uses the same software, only difference is the sensors they use are much better, but the software is literally the same and it has the same exact menu with the exception of having the ability to choose how long segment of recording will be (since it's a dashcam)

My dashcam (bought from AliExpress) has the exact same ui and software, except it's 10 times better lmfao! Paid 150$ for it.

The sad part is that it's wish's fault Aliexpress has some legit good cameras and projectors, for half the price of one in the stores in here. Wish sells shit for the same price but for a much lower quality.

It's actually considered important and a point of pride, because the success in producing a product is in almost a cargo cult ape-mimicry of the product rather than trying to do a good job intrinsically. Back when firearms were less restricted, you'd find Chinese guns made with random characters stamped on the side, random numerals where range marks would be on the sight, etc. China has had trouble eliminating these practices because they're a natural evolution of the "mimicry of the master is the path to mastery" cultural attitude. There are hundreds of thousands of incredibly talented Chinese engineers and artists who produce truly great work but they get overshadowed by the hordes of literal millions of copycats (who also immediately mimic anything the Chinese innovators create). It's very demoralizing for the people who are working tirelessly to create a true Chinese domestic market for innovation.

MP2 was only for audio, not video

JonasLue then lord knows what it was - the software the dongle came with said it was MP2 and I never bothered checking further - in any case it was *bad* but still better than these lol

@@theidealcopy_ My guess is that "MP2" meant M-JPEG AVI files with MP2 audio (used by digital radio and Video CDs). Either that or QuickTime .MOV (I had a cheap "camcorder" that used that. Made editing video an absolute hell on Windows XP).

Could well have been - I didn’t use the audio from the footage since it was for an installation that I did music for, but what little of the audio I did hear would’ve been unusable anyway - whatever digital conversion the dongle did absolutely murdered the bit depth and sample rate, and also cut off all frequencies above about 1kHz 🙃 it was comically bad

Most manuals would not need to state that, but after using that one, what's the first thing you want to do? But the book says No! No colliding with hard objects! Doesn't say anything about being rolled over by soft but heavy rubbery objects!
