I Bought 52 Watches This Year! Where Are They Now? 

I'm with you J, in a few years I went from "Damn owning 4 watches makes no sense, I need to sell some." to "Why do I have 60 watches." Most of it I blame on you!

No mention (or slam) of boutique brands AVI-8 (Spitfire with the Miyota 8218 movement) or LIV (GX-AC with the Valjoux 7750 movement) which are both I have purchased and enjoy.

That green Sea-Gull military watch is my daily driver. Love that watch. Since it's my daily, I miss a date complication, but other than that, it's perfect. 🥰 (I have the newer model)

When it comes to the Willard Homage I would always go with the San Martin. Way better finishing and overall better quality.

Congratulations on another great JOMW year Jody! Unbelievably, I've only bought two watches this year, both around the 50USD mark. The first was the Timex Camper "Deluxe" TW2R58300 with a Seiko quartz movement, stainless steel case, and acrylic crystal. In hand it's an excellent vintage-style field watch with surprisingly solid build quality and nice detailing. The second was a Casio MTP4500D-1AV, also an excellent buy, and a pretty legitimate aviation chrono with a slide rule bezel. So not a very spendy year for me, but I'm extremely pleased with both watches. I also think they both fit the bill for you channel Jody, and would love to see a review of either or both at some point!

I bought only six, sold three, gave one away and one i'm about to sell. Looking forward to get at least one of those watches that are on my "would be nice" list. Probably starting from Longines HydroConquest 39/41

A Casio BEM-150, A Citizen Nighthawk, a Casio EQB1100 & my first Seiko, an SRPE55. I'm hoping to get the Casio "Aquaterra" & Invicta 1953 sometime next year. I'll be honest, I'm strangely attracted to the Fugo lol and that Citizen Promaster Tough Shane reviewed earlier this year.

I am wondering how you store all your watches. I had a perfectly nice 10 watch case that held all my watches, until I got a 20 watch case for Christmas. I transferred all my watches to this nice case, but it looked a bit empty. So, of course, that meant I had to buy more watches. Now that it is full, it looks much nicer. Can't help thinking about that old 10 watch case just sitting there empty... hmmm...

I've bought a bunch of watches this autumn, a few on the 11.11 sale, but also a couple of Casios, an Orient Kamasu and a Zelo Swordfish. Goddamn, when all of these starting to arrive it was like: What the hell have I done?!

I bought the Steeldive (love it). Influenced by what you had to say, I also bought the Seestern and a Citizen Promaster Tsuno (that's the 45mm bullhead).

I only bought one watch this year, but technically acquired two. A Casio A700, from the Mastersintime store. It's been stuck in Frankfurt for two weeks, going via DHL to Perth WA. The other watch, I quite literally picked up off the side of a road in the middle of nowhere in the country, an F91w, with no straps! It's currently living on my wrist as I type. Classic!

I love my 24 hour Восток, it's just plain interesting. Great conversation starter, and the original purpose was and is important. For the Artic explorer's. I agree as a practical watch it's not there. You have to appreciate what it is.

Watches are like girlfriends, they come and go. Then you get wife material, you get married and you're stuck with just one watch for the rest of your life 😂. You get divorced and the cycle begins again.

Congrats on a great year and Merry Christmas to you and yours. Probably match or better that number, I know it's not a competition, as I have collected around 240 in about 3 years. Problem is, I still have most of them and no watch channel to validate their purchases. Started thinning the herd this year and sold around 10 with about 80 or so on the chopping block. The next concern is my next 5 watches I would like to own cost as much as the 200 I already have, damn!

I suddenly feel a lot less irresponsible for the 3 or 4 I bought this year. Or is it 5? My Pagani version of the Seiko Tuna is en route. It had applied indexes, so I had to drop the hammer on it. Currently wearing my Heimdallr NTTD Sea Ghost titanium watch.

Always fun to see your videos. This is the second (third?) watch channel that I have seen savage the Orient SK retro. You did the gold version. I saw Ben tear into the red one - and went and bought it. It is ugly - let's call it the 'Uglient'. But for those of us a certain age it hearkens back to the disco era. Just one more thing that really had no reason to be the first time but maybe not so bad from the nostalgia perspective. Besides - the one watch from that era that I really want I will probably never afford - the Seiko Pogue. THAT is a reissue that needs to happen! And no, the special release of the Seiko 5 does not capture that feel. Mine is sitting unworn in the box for now.

Well I am now rebuilding my collection after I was burgled a couple of weeks ago. It still vexes me when I think about it. They took my burgundy Kamasu and my gen 2 ver 2 gold tone Bambino, the one with the Roman numerals, the champagne dial Guanqin and my Escapement Time type B flieger. I feel the loss of those more than the other 9. I plan to do like Biden and build back better. I've started off with 3. Two Casios and a SNZG11. Then there were the 3 that I bought for gifts earlier this year, and the 6 for myself. So that's 1 per month average. Not quite the 1 per year, who meant to say 1 per week, and said it twice in the video but not bad if I say so myself. We won't count the watch straps and the tools that's would make me look a bit obsessive

Another old-stock Casio, the HDD-S100, is still in the mail. Geez. And I saw in the shop that there's an orange G-shock DW-5900 now, the DW-5900TS-4. Oh my...

Most enjoyable (??) film sequel - Hellraiser II, that really worked for me. I do enjoy a good sequel though and have no snobbery about them, generally speaking. Although, I have to say (and I do, regularly), Highlander - loved it, the accent mash-ups of the various actors was almost as entertaining as the plot. Highlander II, wtaf ?!!? (as the kids say). The entire premise of the story line was extracted and replaced with some indecipherable nonsense.... might have been fine if it was the original storyline but no. I was so looking forward to it too, having enjoyed the original so much. Anyway, back to watches as my Helm Komodo is about to arrive.....5...4....3.....2.....1..... {dingdong} gone....

A 62mas cost ¥13000 in 1967, a Rolex Submariner cost $230 in 1970. You can use the inflation calculator, but strangely enough, the Rolex cost the same in 1970 as today, in gold, if gold was a currency. These Chinese watches are great. I just wish that the Swiss would sell Sistem51 as a movement, so the Chinese can concentrate on watch cases, dials & bracelets, having a reliable drop in movement with +/- 7 seconds with a 90 hour power reserve. These are men’s jewellery. You can have a bullhead reissue, but only if it’s trendy. Then everyone with a Chinese Valjoux 7750, can make a “bullhead”. But the only thing that can make them affordable, is if everyone makes the same thing at the same time & try to sell them to not enough people.

Since 25 years I only bought 4 watches, this year the 4th was a smart watch REDMI. Next year maybe the ORIENT KAMASU or the seiko 5 GMT i hope without QC issues.

I’ve just received my blue dial helm Khuraburi and did a video..😂😂. Was done off the cuff. 😂. I definitely won’t be selling the watch, but might delete the video. 🤦‍♂️ 😂😂however, what it did show me Jody, is how good you are at your job and your channel.

Yeah I've had to get a second watch box just for my G Shocks which over the past 12 months is an itch I have been well and truly scratching. GD350 G7900 GW9000 Mudman GG 1000 Mudmaster Most of these are up your street but the GG1000 is gonna be massive on you. However if you ever needed to go to war this is watch I'd choose. My main brand is Seiko and have a list of pieces that I dont yet own but that will change no doubt. Watch collecting is damn well addictive!

I've built more than I've bought this year.....actually by quite a big margin now that I think about it. Purchases of note are the Seiko Style60 in blue and I put a deposit down on a Traska Freediver (in mint of course), hopefully that'll get shipped Q1 next year. But yeah I'm totally hooked on making my own these days, far more satisfying, and a real eyeopener on how much mark-up is put on watches by manufacturers, wowzers 😯

I’ve been wearing the same watch for ten years. In the past year I’ve bought 4 more. I gave one away as a present to a friend. I now have a radio-controlled watch, a GPS-sync, a high-frequency quartz, and a thermocompensated quartz. Clearly I’m trying for accuracy. All quartz. The high-frequency quartz gains a second a week. Not sure yet about thermocompensated: supposedly within ten seconds a year. We’ll see. No strong desire to repeat my bad experiences many years ago with automatic mechanical watches, despite their charms…

Thanks. Why do I watch these watch videos? I'm a one watch type of guy. Ha~what a lie that is. Still, I generally wear one watch, most of the time. Honestly, I'm like that guy Poe wrote about, who looking for the lost city of Eldorado. He died on the side of the road. So, why do I come to your channel, and the few like it. Well, personally I like mid century esthetics. I don't love mid century, but well you know. Any who, I used to make furniture for beer money while in college. I thought myself a con-man, because I used wood I found laying in the street, and sold it as coffee tables, or beds. The thing is, to sell something, you need someone to like it, and then it has to not break. Do you know what it's like, when some likes a table, but the thing wobbles? Worse, they bring back the bed, and it broke? So, I thought,"I'll make something that looks good, and doesn't break." I thought it was a nasty trick. In my mind, I felt so guilty. I thought, "You're fool. It just looks cool, and made it so it wouldn't break. Now I have beer money." So, years later I'm on facebook, and people I sold to wrote to me. They were asking, "Do you still make furniture? i was just wondering, because I still have the coffee table you made. It's my favorite piece of furniture." They send me picture of tables, and beds I made. I'm thinking, "I just did that for beer money." That's not true. Making something out trash I found was fun. It was like a puzzel. Many of the picture then send, I don't remember making at all. Some I remember perfectly. I told one person, I felt guilty taking people's money. I just made stuff that looked good, so you would buy it. Then I made it so it wouldn't break, and you would want your money back. Everything I made, was trash when I found it. The guys wrote back, "I wish everything I owned, was made to look good, and not break. I don't care what it was before." That's what I'm looking for in watch. Something that looks good, and doesn't break.

Hi Jody, Looked up the Tribus70 deal, unfortunately lug to lug among other elements don't really work for me, and just because it's a good deal...you know the rest. Will enjoy your review none the less. Presently don't have a GMT but do had plenty of chronographs , and funny, I had never thought of this, but if you aren't using the Crono function you can run the second had to the hour of either your home or destination time and stop it there; granted it's a 12 and not 24 hour system. Poor man's fix though. Love your channel been watching, and watching (get it😉). Have a good one, great content and selection.

I'd like to say 'lots of ideas for xmas presents' but most of the fanily have those horrible i-watches, so I wont. On the Feiko, I'd stick a 12 hour bezel on it and enjoy it, you'll probably love it. When are you going to do the other custom build? I cant wait to see that. Happy Xmas Jody!

I also got caught via AliExpress re a couple of Omega homage watches Jody. Sterile dials….so I thought! When they arrived both had Omega on the dial. Not impressed. I wear them as tool watches, remembering maybe I was the tool that bought them!🤪

I have been shopping watches way to long I think that MSRP these days is more than a convenient fiction to make the sales price look like a bargain. I for one cannot recommend buying "Chinese watches" as my experience with fulfillment has been hit or miss and has cost me several hundred dollars over the years. Strangely though I own at least one Sturhling watch, primarily because the price I paid versus the function it provided was the best I found at the time. I think that is now my guiding premise regardless of the brand or price point.
