I bought 9 BMW M Coupes looking for the perfect one 

As I listen to this story I look back at all the great M cars I've owned and I realize I don't regret the thousands or hundreds of thousands of miles I've put on the cars or all the track days and burned off tires. I can't imagine all the joy these owners miss out on by never driving their cars but to each their own.

Eric buys cars over and over again trying to get one without a story. I keep buying new ones hoping for an even crazier story!

It never made sense to me that someone buys their 'dreamcar', for usually a lot of money too, and then never drive it...

Was so inspired by this man for the last 12+ years. Rest In Peace Eric. The BMW community lost a legend.

Owning a car and then never driving it is such a weird concept to me.

I live relatively close to the BMW factory in upstate S.C. and I remember seeing these all the time..One day at an SCCA event on the campus of Clemson University a German guy showed up in one and smoked every lap times by several seconds.. It was one of the coolest things I've ever seen

This is like me and Toyota Camry wagons. Six so far and I've almost found "The One" several times.

I love this guys talks about BMW, never been a super BMW fan myself but the passion this guy has for these cars is great to see.

I genuinely can’t understand owning a car I don’t drive. There a are a lot of better investments, so even the money doesn’t work out. Sad.

My first car was actually a Z3M roaster that was handed down to be. It’s such an amazing car!

Love my MCoupe. When I broke the 50,000 mile mark I parked it and there it sits for the past 10yrs in safe storage. Thank you Steve Dinan for venturing out on a limb to put a supercharger in my baby. I said I would never sell it and I haven't. ///M

my dad has a M Roadster in Cosmos Black with the Imola Red interior and all of the options and it only has like 20000 miles on it. He bought it new from 1998. Its rare with the EUDM spec S50B32 engine (arguably better than the S54) and is in right hand drive. What an incredible car it is to drive!

Sell it to Travis Scott so he can have fun with it just so you can be salty

I loved this car ever since I first saw it reading my Car and Driver magazine review of it riding home on my hour-long middle school bus trip. I saw one not long after and it melted my heart seeing on in my small town. These cars are so special to those of us who really know what's up.

This guy's voice both captivates me and puts me to sleep at the same time. He's like a mystery wrapped in an enigma...

I got an 02 M Coupe back in 2014. Wonderful cars. I had to go all the way from California to Massachusetts to get the thing! But well worth it! Unfortunately they're worth a small fortune these days. Sad to hear that Eric passed away. I've followed EAG for about 7 years. Sometimes life takes some too soon.

Finally someone that likes this car, i remember when this lunch and bmw enthusiasts that i knew they said its ugly "I'm sure is not good" and now over the years people started to love it....

I owned a metallic yellow '02 for nearly 18 years. Fun to drive! Always got looks ... often had taunts to race. I typically told the taunter that I don't race x 😛. Have a couple great tickets for speeding that I was happy to pay. Z3 M Coupe deserves to be driven!

I really dig those older Beamers. I'm not sure why but the 9 is one of my favorites. It might be because I'm into wagons.

Last Monday evening I picked my first Z3 Coupe - I have owned an E36 M and a Z3 Roadster. I told my family they can sell it when Im dead. it's that good.

One of my favorite M cars all time. Mom has one with like 60k on it. Love driving it

Love anyone who has soft spot for z3s. During corona lockdown last year, I took my z3 1.8 to the lift, gave him prefacelift wide body, 4.3cm spacers to reach wider fenders in the back, engine from totaled e30 m3, 6 speed manual, limited slip diff, did the whole bodywork, painted in original boston green, renewed the seats, .... and much more, took me 3 months to finish Now the car grew to my heart, doubt I will ever sell it, now its one of the kind, I don't think it has an equal on this planet, altrought it is so simple.

I've never owned a BMW but an M Coupe is still HIGH on my list of to-own-one-day cars. And the green with the tan interior is BEAUTIFUL! I remember seeing my first Clownshoe when touring the SC plant back in the late 90's... loved them then, still love them now! Very cool story but I'd be lying if I said it didn't sadden me a little that this car has been driven so little.

the bit abt the valve stems at the end seals the deal with this story.

They kinds look like a Porsce, an HHR and and a BMW had a long awesome weekend together and the 9 I'd the result.

I saw one of these last night. Sooo beautiful

my absolute favorite car ever, I saw one displayed in a BMW showroom when they just came out, black on black with all options and the M color stitching and in person it was breathtaking to me. I'd take one of those over any other car, except maybe a red on tan Testarossa which is something I have also gotten up close and personal with. Some cars are just magic, the F40 is another but it would end up not being driven with me because of how much of a racecar it actually is, you don't really see it on video or pics as easily but it really jumps out and slaps you in person. A Testarossa is impractical but it's nothing like the F40.

I completely understand the need. Here in the Middle East the M Coupe is as rare as rocking horse shit, so when one came up at the right time I had to buy it, regardless of condition or mileage....I just had to have one! I personally would never buy the S52, and luckily the earlier models outside of North America came with the S50 and 316hp, and not the S52 and 240.

Just bought a 2008 Z4M Coupe. Not quite the same car, but the rough formula is there. I get it. A RWD Hatch is a magic thing here in the States.

I got a 1987 buick gnx (my grandpa worked at buick) its got 1237 miles on it I got the original oil was changed at 500 mi got the original gm washer fluid in a jug still got the valve caps in original locations its num 378 i will be parting with it soon to send my kids to college

Z3 M3 coupe...I want to get a black one. Remove the back side windows, put on a vinyl roof, a landau bar on each of the new vinyl-clad panels behind the B-pillar, and make the coolest hearse for "Little people." Clown shoe my ass- how unimaginative!

I used to work valet in Phoenix, I drove a few of these at the Crowne Plaza. Go up a few floors in the parking garage, these cars would rip! I was the only one on nights that knew how to drive a stick.

This is how it was with my mk4 vr6 GTI....my first one was a dud, sold it and went on the hunt for one that was the closest i could get to new back in 2016 for a 16 year old car. found a one owner, dealer maintained gem. Its my baby.

My favorite bmw is the isetta, so practical, and great gas mileage

I remember my s52 swapped 99' e36 328i walking away from a friends fully modded M coupe - with my 328s 15 inch wheels, open diff, radial tires :D Even though the M coupe was possibly even lighter, it wasn't as aerodynamic so after about 110mph you walked away

I have a 2001 Z3 coupe 3.0i and it’s by far the best vehicle I’ve ever owned!

I love my 2002 BMW Z3 M roadster would love to turn it in to a coupe. Main reason I say that is as much as I love my monster I can't take it out in any rain because my top has leaked since I got it in early 2003. I just click over 100,344 miles on it and it is been great for me besides the 4 tops I have had put on it and 8 full sets of tires and only 2 sets was front.

Here in Europe the M version had the E36 M3 3,2-engine with or the down-tuned E46 M3-engine, no 240 hp-version.

I think I talked to this guy about buying an e46 M3 a few years ago. He doesn't make you feel like you're buying a car as much as joining his car family.

I understand wanting to keep a car in near pristine condition, but mileage was never thing that mattered to me unless it was something super high.

i used to get clowned on because a lady that lived 4 houses down from us had one and i used to tell my friends how much i liked the car i had no idea just how rare they were looking back now i remember the lady had yhat car for 10 years and when i moved out that car was well well worn

The real reason why I stay away from the way pricier M models -- I like to raise the suspension to the standard soft setting. Besides, M version of the Z3 lacks both quick-ratio steering rack & Torsen differential. I can only stand cars with wide rear visibility. Therefore I have to choose the “Roadster version of the Z3 with OEM hardtop” instead of the “clown-shoe hatch with tight body structure”. With the convertible version (Z3 Roadster) worth even lower significantly than the hardtop version (Z3 Coupe) in the used-car market, I'm also saving $ further in my car-collection shopping. So, I collected 2 near-mint final-year E36 BMW's -- 1999 328is M-Tech manual (under 50k mi @ $174,000 in 2006) 2002 Z3 3.0 manual w/ OEM hardtop (under 70k mi @ $13,000 in 2017) Everyone told me that I'm a sucker that overpaid them. But I was the first in line that took each of them, & clearly there were waiting lists of pissed off buyers that were too slow to grab them... I knew I had to buy this Z3 3.0 in N. California as soon as the photos were listed. So I didn't realize that, unlike early Z3 1.9, it has roll rings blocking the seat back from reclining therefore also the seats themselves only got restricted reclining angle! Then I switched the passenger seat of the Z3 with an aftermarket unit (Cerullo SC driver seat with removable headrest) in order clear the wide rear wrap-around visibility. Bit too safe/obvious choice for me, everyone loves the clownshoe. I’d be brave & get the Z4M Coupe. Rarer, better car but less sought after and so cheaper.

i frickin love the look of this car and always have, baffles me as to why its so hated even in the bmw community!?. the design is classic, individual, has a great looking stance and the engine and gear box are an absolute joy to behold!!.

E36/8 is quite a car. They should have leaned into the 'sport shoe' and done an Adidas/Puma edition

Besides the original m3, which was a little buzz bomb, this car is the best BMW ever made by far, they also had the best factory paint options out of any car maker around that time

I have to use and drive anything I own. That is how I get joy and pleasure from it. That's why I just let my brother have a 62,000 original mile 96 Impala SS that my dad was going to leave to me because it was too nice and I knew I would drive it.
