Should have brought someone that knew about 4 wheelers with you!!! That is a pos worth about 500 dollars!! Atleast where I'm from. You can get a used 2010 or up Honda foreman 4x4 for that price, that has nothing wrong with it.

The jets are clogged from sitting with old fuel in the fuel bowl. One way to see if it's a fueling issue is if you have a manual choke. You can choke it out and if she runs better with choke on then the carb needs a cleaning. I normally use compressed air and welding tip files. I live in Wisconsin and it's almost routine maintenance when they aren't stored properly.

List of To-Do’s: 1: New CV joints(I say joints, because when one goes out, the other is usually soon to follow) 2: New starter 3: Clean/Rebuild the Carb 4: change spark plugs 5: Change/Add Fuel Filter 6: Oil Change(no telling when the last one was and always wanna be safe) 7: change differential oil to be safe as well. 8: new fuel lines(fairly cheap and easy to do) The above list is just a compilation of things that need done and things that will give you safety of mind going forward.

If it’s like a dirt-bike the “hand brake” is a clutch that you pull in every time you shift and when you take off, slowly let off the clutch and give it gas. There should be a brake down by your foot.(I’m not sure which one)

Seems like it could be a carburetor issue and it might need cleaning (its bogging because it isn't getting enough fuel). Love the videos Lojo keep up the good work!

The axel clicking is an easy fix. It’s just out of grease but a new axel is around 120$

congrats on the property lojo a lil tip, always take whatever your buying on a test drive/ride before you buy... most of these issues wouldve been noticed while one the test ride

You can fix the breaks by bleeding them then they will work like brand new. If u clean the carb it should run better, and the air filter needs to probably be cleaned. The clicking is just the axel if you get a new axel it should not tick any more. I would change the oil and oil filter too. Also would drain all the fuel and put fresh fuel in.

The artic cats are notorious for busting cv joints on the axles I've put a few in mine

There's an awesome ATV mechanic in Ozark, about 30-45 minutes from you. He rebuilt mine around Christmas time and is building me a dune buggy currently.

As a few people might of already mentioned but I'll give my 2cents...from my limited experience with motors like that the issue with when you give it throttle sounds like a carburetor issue, easy enough to take it apart and clean her up something you can do ya self.. and the ticking from the back right is definitely a CV joint if it's ticking in a straight line it's pretty far gone and I'd start to imagine the left side will be close behind it. Seems pricey for what ya got but I love seeing you learn the hard way! Keep it up lojo loving this new lease on life this new property has given ya.

clicking is the CV axle. bogging down could be fuel issue or air or spark. always do a compression check when buying older vehicles

Definitely should do an oil change to give you an idea how happy the motor is. It sounds to me like it's bogging like it's not getting enough gas. So might wanna look at the carb see if you can do some fine tuning. As far as the clicking in the back end goes might wanna just pull the wheel off and see if the hub is decent then work your way in from there. Another thing that would hurts is to pull the valve covers and check the clearance to the valves. My warrior had a wicked tap when I bought it. All it was were the valves were out of adjustment. So lash them valves.

I’m sure I’m not the first person to say it, but with it being 20 years old, it may need a carb rebuild or clean. I’d suggest getting it tuned and the carb at least cleaned if not rebuilt. Also love your vids man!!

Few hundo and a few days away at a good shop and you have a great machine that will last. I couldn't touch one like that after repairs for under 5k in oregon. Great tool purchase for the new property. Dont get discouraged!

If I remember right from our arctic 500 that’s just a couple years older. Choke lever down is choke and up is not choked.

I would start by cleaning and/or rebuilding the carburetor. Replace the axle with a new one. And then do regulat maintenance on it. Start with spark plug, fuel filter or lines if it needs it. Oil change and changing oil in the front and rear differentials, check for wear in the ball joints and tie rods amd tie rod ends its all easy to do with basic tools. As for the brakes. They may just need bleeding and new fluid or new master cylinder and calipers

LoJo. You need the carb cleaned. Tear it down, soak it in carb cleaner. Use a small soft nylon brush, air compressor to blow all parts out, assemble after checking for worn or cracked parts. Change the fuel filter and it might be a good thing to clean the tank too. In regards to the axle. Get a new axle and slap it in. A couple hours with normal garage tools. While you're at it, might as well slap some new brake pads on her too.

Make sure you start off in first gear and replace your spark plugs. That should stop the dying when you give it throttle.

Im not smart, but, in my experience with small engines, get yourself a big bottle of carb cleaner and spray the carb and anything else that looks gunky. Oil change, filters, spark plug and wires are the basics. another pro tip is Sea Foam and a prayer. You are killing it Lojo! Will you please build some sort of canon? Be careful! But, a canon bro!

Take it and get it a tune up and serviced. Have them give you the laundry list and fix it over time. Sounds like a CV going out in the back. The starter issue is probably a sticky solenoid or relay. Seems like a carburetor rebuild is in order. Duct tape will have that seat looking like new! lol

Sounds like it has water in the carb, and the cv joint on the rear right axle is out. A good carb clean and new axle and I bet you'd have a pretty good machine

all I can tell you is that for the brakes, just go to any mechanic shop around you and ask them to replace those brakes, looks to me like the brakes are a little rusted and worn out so I think with like $250 you should get some knew brakes, just no sure if installation is included, you know thinks down here in Florida are more expensive

I don’t know much about that quad but seems like that lever that you think is breaks might be a clutch that you need to use to take off and shift gears could be causing it to stall on the hills and the jump it’s doing when putting it in gear and there should be a foot break on right side on the foot rest as well

I would replace the stater and give the carb a over haul and clean the gas tank out and replace the fuel lines and put a good fuel filter. The clicking is your axel.

Hey just a little tip. If you want it to quit hopping when you shift it into gear, you need to adjust the idle on the carb. If the idle is too high it gives it too much gas and then when you put it in gear it’ll jump. Turn the idle down a tiny bit and it will slip into gear smoothly

I would say in need a new axle, air filter carburetor, and a starter all that is pretty easy work I would do that sell it for more and see if you could work your way up

It acts like the choke is pulled out. Decent bike! Hell may just be out of gas. With it jumping when you put it in gear makes me think the choke is out or it’s idled up to high

For sure carb cleaning. Drain gas tank and clean that. I'd put new fuel line and filter on it.new plug.For brake good chance the cable is stretched out so could just need a cabin.

The lever on the opposite side of the gas lever is the clutch so when you shift with your foot you pull it in then shift and then let it out

3k for an artic cat sorry logo love the videos but that is a no go they are one of the worst atv brands

I have a grizzly 660 which are notorious about axles going out it is an easy fix you can buy a axle rebuild kit on line Farley cheap or just buy a new axle either way doesn't take long to fix it the other is carb issue have someone rebuild the carburetor and adjust it and you will have a perfectly fine fourwheeler. Fourwheelers can be expensive and they can be cheap depending on what YOU want to do with them. Have fun with your purchase and love the content bro.

Carburetor needs cleaned! Make sure gas is flowing. Change fuel filter. Make sure there’s no junk in the tank

So it won’t go up the hills and through the mud because it is bogging because the carb is old and need to be A. Replaced B. cleaned or C. rebuilt and tuned, the clicking in the axle will take some money but an easy fix, i’d also look into changing the oil and air and fuel filters to be safe as well.

It is the carburetor 100%, had the same issue. My side by side started perfectly, but when given throttle it would die, just like your 4 wheeler. So just get a carb cleaner kit and clean out the carb and it should work.

Replace the axle. Or keep grease on hand. And constantly greasing the u joint. Alot of grease will come out of it because the boot is ripped. Eventually the u joint is gonna snap. Also sounds like it needs fuel. Or a carb cleaned

Rear hub assembly is the clicking, that's a easy fix and the carburetor need cleaned and adjusted that's why it's bogging and flooding. Breaks need adjusted or replaced. That hand and foot break should have pressure to it. All easy fixes and not real expensive. Motor sounds good though, runs nice. Over paid some but all easy to do. Good luck man, have fun be safe...

That axle if it doesnt have play, you can grease it and replace boot, they make noise when dry, if it catching or has play, just replace it, easy job. Also take the carb out, and put it in a bucket of diesel fuel, easy way to clean them, then install and adjust and that machine will be fine. Seat covers also cheap if you care about it

For the rear end you need to check the CV axle by pulling it back and forth. If the axle makes a clicking noise by hand you will need to replace it. If not the differential is shot... but Yikes, should of done a pre-purchase video haha. We're here to help you big dog. Loving the 1mil property content!.

Seems like it could be the carburetoR stoped up and over heateding bc that fan sould not be over working like that and the axle is snaped in there btw take it to a mechanic

If you don't change the starter make sure to carry an long socket extension to tap that starter in the woods. Use a log or something for the hammer.

Seems like it needs a carburetor rebuild kit. Clean it and new seals should do the trick. My buddy had an Arctic cat ATV a lot like it, we've have to rebuild the carb a couple of times. eBay has carb parts for these ATVs for cheap.

It's a clutch use its basically to shift and roll in neutral also to bump start when rolling down hill if dead

Everyone hates on arctic cat fourwheelers but the early 2000s wheelers were great and everyone ik that has had one loved it. I've had one in my family for about 10 years now it is practically bulletproof

Unfortunately the reason the prices are so high is that there are people willing to pay the asking price. Brakes- it looked like the reservoir was empty. Fill it with brake fluid and bleed the brakes. Going to have to clean the carburetor and change the fuel filter. There is Derrick from a RU-vid channel called Vice Grip Garage. He swears on a carb cleaner called Berryman carb cleaner. He is sponsored by Oriellys autoparts so if you have one near you that Berryman is suppose to be some really good carb cleaner. The axle is probably the u-joint going to the rear hub. You bought a project, so tear it down and fix it or get stranded on that Million dollar hunting land. Probably a carb issue, also check the idle adjustment. Ifs its too high that will cause it to jump when you put it in gear. Love the channel!!!!!

The axle nosie is most probably just the cv joint (constant velocity) aka drive shaft joint to dumb it down a little haha easy fix

Definitely fix the brakes. Check the reservoir (white thing with the black lid next to the brakes)maks sure its full. If not add some and see if you can find the leake.

Hello Joe you need it to hold down your clutch and then shift up into first or second gear that’s why when you just rub it up it’s shutting off another reason why is when you’re not holding down the clutch it’s got nowhere to go so you got a hold down the clutch and then pop it up

We just finished working on my dads 2003 artic cat 400. We had the carb rebuilt, battery replaced, new starter, and replaced the fly wheel. The issue we were having was when you 'did' get it started, you would give it throttle and it struggled to go. After rebuilding the carb the issue continued. We then took a second spark plug and pluged it in the coil and clipped a wire to that plug then clipped the other end to the spark plug on the engine its self and started it and watched the the spark. The spark wasnt consistent so it took us to the stater and fly wheel. Those year models the magnets were glued to the fly wheel and the glue wore off and the magnets were sliding causeing the miss fire. The stater was in good condition so we just replaced the flywheel (got from ebay). Its a decent job to do so cover all easy bases before opening up the engine. Hope this helps you, we been having it since it left the show room floor they are good atvs with their Suzuki engines.

You should look into the Suzuki quadrunner 500 or king quad. I had a quadrunner and it lasted forever. Only reason I got rid of it was due to needing money. I know the quadrunners have 5 high gears and 5 low gears so you can just run and have fun or make it work. Also mine was light enough the couple times I did get stuck I just got off and lifted the back up and over and away I went. I know there are a lot of good options but the Suzuki I can vouch for. Great vid.

Carberator definitely needs cleaning, ticking noise is either a cv joint on the axle or possibly a wheel bearing

Hold the clutch in on the left side of the handlebars it’s the silver thing and slowly let go when you’re slowly giving it gas still be letting go of the clutch and then overtime give it more gas when the clutch is fully extended

That brake that doesn’t brake is probably a clutch if I had to guess beings u said you had to shift gears

Check u-joints and maybe replace the starter. It would suck to get stranded with nothing to tap on it with. Definitely would clean the carb and air filter as well.

My grandparents had a four wheeler that popped like that. Mainly going up hills. It ended up being the stick shift up top? The connector bar is loose that puts the engine in gear

Sounds like the choke is pulled up and it probably need the carburetor cleaned. Drain the gas and put new in it. I’ve got a artic cat 454 and mine acted the same way. ( it died on me every time I tried to go up hill). You mentioned the hand break not working, the plastic box on top of the hand break needs to be full of break fluid. It looked empty from the video.

It's the drive belt sensor, if it's not sealed and gets the least bit of water in the belt will slip and normal trip the sensor on the cover which causes it to go into a "limp mode" it's a easy fix just pop cover off. Dry it out good and use clear silicone to reinstall cover, flip the switch that's inside cover and stick back on

You got to rev it up in neutral for a sec when you first get on for it to not bog my atv is a 2001 Yamaha beartracker 250cc

LOJO probably paid for the collectors value I think Arctic cat stop making four wheelers in 2017 and started side by sides. The model LOJO had was a Suzuki made engine which ended in 2004. So I think it's an single over head cam hemispherical engine.

Your problem with Acceleration is the bike is not getting Enough Fuel to fix that I would try to clean the carburetor. But love the video 👍

I had a 2000 and a 2001 arctic cat 500. I beat the crap out of it and they ran. One was caught on fire and I still was able to get it running cheap and easy. There found more in the north and cold areas of the world. They are cheap to fix and take a beating

Artic cat is now known as tracker off road through basspro/cabelas... they bought the name and rights some time ago but the axels are not hard to replace... i worked in the tracker center for a good time and never seen one that was hard to repair. I saw ones that were older than 20 years come through the shop as well, its good he replaced the rear end. They also dont like low rps/low gas they like to be at high throttle at all times lol a 400 is a good piece of equipment to have thats for sure

The bogging when you give it throttle is the carburetor. It probably needs to be taken apart and cleaned

You need a starter, carburetor, maybe flush the fuel line, brakes but check your fluid first bc low fluid will reduce your brakes too. Heck due a complete flush on all your fluids including gas. I say flush bc if its a 20 yr old vehicle im sure u got some sediment in there. Also check the gap in ur spark plugs and wires maybe needing a change. Also any filters if they need them. Sounds like a lot but 20 yr old vehicle parts are really cheap. Im still running a 2002 chevy s10 LS truck. Works great, i just stay ontop of the maintenance, and do yearly checks before winter to ensure everythings good going into snow season as im up in Canada. Also that clicking in the rear is prolly a control arm or ball joint, all are easy to fix and u could prolly do it at home. The carburetor will need to be adjusted though. U just arent getting the correct air to gas flow. Itll be a beast whrn shes fixed tho. Good luck cant wait to see how it does when shes fixed.

definitely needs a carb clean ultrasonic cleaners work super well for carb cleans. I would recommend a carb rebuild kit jetting may not be correct could be another reason for the engine bog. the axle may just need to be replaced and I'd probably replace the u joints just cause they could be loose. get the rear up in the air and shake the axle down look for the most slop could be a problem.

It's most definitely the carb it needs cleaned and tuned I had a moped and 4 wheeler don't he exact same thing cleaned it up and tuned it and ran like a dream

Got to do some well needed maintenance needs to have the carpet cleaned definitely have to go deal with that axle it sounds like the right rear axle easy fix I have done three of them with my grandfather and yeah that new spark plugs just check everything over real quick and she should be good to go after are you clean out the carburetor or if it’s really bad you may need to rebuild it or get a new one
