That's so true what you said, about doing the rear seat an stuff it makes a big difference. The extra effort definitely paid off, as you got a sale so quick!
Oh man i love it when you can just tell by the pictures that its coming from a good place. I still remember when i was selling my old Chrysler Concorde setting up the staging in the driveway so the perspective buyer had a good view of the two old subaru's and newer Tachoma in the background by the wood pile "this car is coming from good people" lolol
Good tutorial on the rear differential. I have the same sound on my Audi (not necessarily a grind, but I describe it as a growl) Now I know how to fix it. UP here in Ohio I need the Quattro to get through the winters...Your videos really are the best, your way better than Scotty K or Hoovie's garage. Keep these videos coming and feel free to throw in a German car here or there....Im hoping some day youll buy an older A4 or A6 and do a video.
You did an awesome job reconditioning that Honda Pilot for resale. You had it looking nice before you sold it. The replacement of the bad seat and armrest made it look 100% better. I think the gentleman that bought it from you for $3250 got a sweet deal..considering it has a nearly new Honda replacement transmission and a new timing belt and water pump.
Very nice. And, unlike the first Pilot, it doesn't look like the number of miles matched the number of things the last owner had hit in it... A vehicle from a nice address is almost always a very solid buy if it's a type of vehicle that has a basically solid reputation. Most people with money aren't afraid of spending money on their vehicles, but obviously still do your due diligence when looking at the vehicle and don't take anything the vendor says at face value until you've got a read on them as a lot of people trying to part with a used vehicle tend to take a lot of liberties with the truth, sadly...
I recently bought a 2006 Pilot Ex-L with over 180000, replaced the timing belt & water pump kit and NGk Laser iridium spark plugs with cheap ebay coils. It is fully loaded with leather interior, back up camera with navigation. It drives so soft and surprisingly enough, it rides smoother then a Toyota Highlander or Lexus RX.
Yes they are surprisingly smooth, especially for a Honda. I truly love them and would have kept this one if I didn’t have two Escalades. The Escalades are a whole other league.
Hey Al, my closest you pull yard has a 91 Toronado in it. Clean black interior with leather seats, all I see missing is the radio and the console (unless it's in the back seat). Analog cluster. You need anything? Up here in New York of course, so shipping is a pain. But the prices aren't crazy to buy them. The seats are so nice in it, I wish I had something to put them in. I need to get another 50 Chevy. lol
@@bigalsbikeandauto No problem, I saw it and thought of you and your bad luck a while back with one. I can't remember the last time I saw one in a yard. I do eBay so buying parts and shipping is no big deal. I see the cluster brings decent money on there so I will probably go grab it. Will try and do a little walkaround video when I do it. There was that and a Fiero in there, plus a few other interesting cars.
I went back today and got some stuff out of the Toronado, and never guess what I walked by. A Cavalier convertible. Pretty stripped out and the dash looked like somebody broke it apart. Got a chuckle out of it though.
8:55 - that seat reminds me of how bad the back seats were on a 2007 Honda Accord I used to have. Worst car I ever bought because I was lied to by the seller advertising it as a clean title later found out it was a salvage title car. Long story short it was a money pit I sold it in 2018 for $1500 I drove my younger brother's F-150 to get around until i saved up some money now I drive a 2003 GMC Sierra.
I had an 07 accord too, was a good car..What kind of issues did you have with it? I4? V6? In the end I sold her with 182,000 on it as the trans started to slip. (was the I4 Engine) Didnt want to invest in a rebuild
@@Beyerjohn283 it leaks from the rear window behind the back seat , the leather on the back seat was rotted away, the upper portion of driver seat was bent like someone put all their weight to one side, heater hose, thermostat, wheel bearing hubs , trunk wouldn't stay up on it's own I had to use a stick to hold it ,the hood flew up on me and smashed the windshield while I was driving , a burning smell from under the hood whenever I floored it and some other issues the car still had beyond the $2700 I had spent in repairs ( It was previously wrecked)when I just said to hell with this car. I should've went with this 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis I did like but I was being picky about the year at the time not knowing how solid and reliable that car was and I was regretting the car I had before a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire which was ok but it wasn't the right car for me so I just wanted something else and I wasn't thinking clearly.
Here in Winnipeg there are a few Pilot's for sale on Marketplace. They are 2005 2006 with same milage for $5,500.00 - $6,000.00 . Those buggy's hold their value.. HONDA..
I recently traded my Civic for a Pilot and HATE it! First the mpg is horrible. I got 50 mpg in my Civic but only 15 mpg in the Pilot. Second the Pilot is so quirky but not in a good way. All the buttons and switches are positioned wrong and the air filters are difficult to replace due to being screwed down. Hate that the door has to be unlocked first before it'll open and it won't automatically lock when you put in drive, etc. I hope to get a CR-V, Element or Civic HB soon to replace this DUD!
@@JustKev_21 its weird my parents have had 3 nissan rogues. My best friend a 2011 Juke and a Juke driven hard but every single service has been done by the book for every single one of those vehicles at the dealer and they have been the absolute best vehicles I have ever seen. People go to a jiffy lube to have their CVT fluid changed or nissan specific antifreeze causes failures of stuff. I even bring my 2000 Diesel F250 to the dealer now because it costs the same as a shop next door that is nowhere as good as showing me issues or giving me a break on the repairs
Big Al always on that grind. I don't think people realize how much work smaller independent dealers go through to sell cars. I know our local guy drives through rich neighborhoods and makes offers on Audi's, Jeeps, BMW and Mercedes cars. That ,an drives a McLaren 570S and nobody realizes he works about 18 hours a day, 7 days a week non stop. But I respect him for it. A Nissan Pathfinder....man people don't realize how shitty Nissans are.
Hey Al, I have an '04 Buick Century with 122K and I have a very slight misfire or stutter at speeds of around 55-60 with light acceleration or holding that speed (not with cruise on). If I accelerate moderately it stops doing it. It doesn't consistently do it but frequently. I replaced plugs and wires and it drove great for a week and then started doing it again, then I put Seafoam in the tank twice and replaced the fuel filter and it made it almost 100%. It now seems to be getting a little worse again about 5-6 months after the Seafoam. Do you think it is likely the fuel pump or injectors or possibly the transmission? I know that you know these GM 3.1 cars really well so any input would be much appreciated.
You can always pull back the timing belt cover a bit or remove it all together easily like on this Pilot to check the condition of the belt ( for any cracks or dry rot).
new subscribers here. I am just want to ask some good advice from your expertise. I am trying to buy a 2007 Pilot ex l with a 175,000 miles on it for $3,000 is it a good deal? Hopefully for your reply.
Depends on where you’re located. That’s about average price for an 07 with that mileage. The maintenance history is everything. If it was well kept and has had a recent timing belt replacement you should be fine.
@@bigalsbikeandauto thank you very much bro . I really appreciate your straight forward advice. I will ask him and by the way how much the labor and parts if I want to change that timing belt?Keep safe bro.
@@dionrau5580 what part of Cutler Bay? Aka the Ridge...I’m down that way every Saturday at estate/garage sales, have been doing it religiously for years.
They were fighting constantly with the city (Medley) over pollution (the yard constantly flooded and badly). It was easier for them to just close up entirely. They’re going to be reopening somewhere in Homestead.
@@bigalsbikeandauto I was going to go yesterday and I went to check the inventory and I could not see the Medley location listed. And I decided not to go but hey I got my answer from you. Thank you
@@bryan2garcia same thing happened to me, went on website to check for Pilots, no Medley. Drove to Medley location saw it shuttered with permanently closed in window. 😔
Good riddance! I'm glad you made a decent profit out of it. I think Hondas are highly overrated. Great motors and manual transmissions. Crappy everything else (A/C, paint, transmissions). Now, let's find a Dodge Dart.
