As part of my RU-vid channel I buy and sell cars as a hobby..and I talk about what to look out for on each vehicle I buy.. In video I said VANOS line gaskets ..Should have said VANOS lines...
Im trying to find a coupe..I almost had 1 about 8 months ago..but my price was a little low for him and it sold in a few days..Blk on Blk 6 speed ..it was nice !
I owned this exact Z4, but with the red leather interior. Bought it CPO in CA (2005, 13k) in 2007 from a local BMW dealer. It was my daily driver for nearly 9 yrs, and yes, I found it to be practical. I'm single and the car had ample space in the interior (5'11, 178lbs) and the trunk for the size of the car was bigger than most would think. I did plenty of Costco, and airport (baggage) runs in it. The car is built like a tank & the engine (M54) as mentioned is in fact bullet proof. I kept up with required scheduled maintenance to include oil changes every 5k miles. The only thing that I had to replace was the valve cover gasket at 34k, and the dealership took care of it under warranty. I got compliments wherever I drove. The Z4 Roadster to me is just a 'looker'. Some may not think so. After 9 yrs & 40k miles later of ownership, I decided to upgrade to a 135i. The BMW dealership bought it from me and gave me top dollar at the time in 2015. I have missed owning & driving the Z4. I am now actively looking for one, and this time around, I will keep it for the long run. If you are an enthusiast and looking for a Z4, look no further than the E85 with the M54 engine. You will not regret it.
That was a great comment! I tried buying 2 this season..1 white 1 blk..white was nice but it needed a few things and for the price I had skip that 1..The blk one they was a email nightmare -back and fourth and he would nt give me a day to look at it..with that said...I bought a 07 M6 convertible that my friend owned(Dave in this video-sold it to his customer and the wife doesn't like it SMG trans-so I bought it.).its for sale now aa I went through it, love it..but I will find another Z in future ,so much fun!
BTW I had a red 2009 135 6 speed M sport convertible and I think thats 1 of my favorites ,bought it only a few years old w low miles so I really loved it back in the day!
Awesome video! I'm 19 and saving up for this to be my first car. Ever since my dad bought his first good car which was a BMW in 2011, I pledged that my first car would be one as well! BMW's were the coolest things ever to my 6 year old self, still are over a decade later...
Many rhanks for your good honest review. I have a Z4 2005 mod 3,0i, manual, and I love it. Same issues as you've pointed out, but in general, this is more or less a bulletproof kit. It's not my daily driver but done approz 100' miles. Had it since 2017 and probably the least exspensive car ownership I've ever had.
Thanks for the comment! I try looking for for another but hard to find ,I really it, at the moment I have 370z roadster..6 speed ..looks great-nice interior..but just doesn't have the same driving experience ! Im always looking for these cars, hard to find though!
I have an early '03 2.5i, they're great cars with loads of character and brilliant engines. The electric power steering in mine gave a lot of trouble so I swapped it out for a hydraulic system from an M3, fitted some high spec bucket seats and that improved it immensely. Enjoyed the video a lot
Wrenching on this thing is so easy, I’ve had my ‘03 3.0i 6 speed since 2019 with 87k miles. 50s kid has an amazing library of videos working on the m54 motor on his e46 here on youtube. FCP Euro has become my friend for parts being they are near me in MA down in CT
I own a 2003 Z4 3.0, 6pd with sport and premium package, space gray metallic like yours. Just turned 90,000 miles. Bought it from my friend in 2010. She bought it new, one f the first few hundred that came off the assembly line. I still love taking it out on a nice day. I’ve had to have the top rebuilt twice, for different reasons. By far the biggest expense. Believe it or not, no issues yet with oil or coolant leaks. Had the clutch replaced. It’s got a bad strut mount now, planning on having the struts and mounts replaced soon. Also, the check engine light is on. A scan indicates an issue with the thermostat. My independent, expert BMW mechanic tells me the thermostat almost always gets stuck open, so not a crisis here in a warm climate. The maintenance issues have been a small price overall for all the enjoyment it gives me. Good luck with yours.
ECS tuning and FCP Euro are your best friends when owning a Z4. I have a 2010 Z4 N54 E89 that I absolutely love and those are the two parts outlets I lean on for maintenance parts for my beloved Z4.
First things I did to my 2003 3.0i was the DISA unit upgrade and taking out some of the foam in the sound generator pipe. July '03 build so she's almost 20 with 175K on the clock. Now have to do top motor but it did almost make it 20 years.
@@Selene_M3 No kidding! I lived out their short time..3 months lol..1990! I was on S Phoenix line ..The EGGARY was a breakfast place I loved there, long time ago..Sizzler?? first time I ever been in one was there..I loved it out there..but no work for me and I came back to Boston..long story..watch my 5 yeas of prison videos..tells the story!
I bought the same car & did the oil change and start smoke bad, was a mistake previous owner sold me the car with additive oil just for get rid the car now I have to replace the engine n don't know how much is the price of the new engine in paid $3500 don't know if worth to replace the engine . suggestions?
@@jorge8915 Beware of the turbos you ll be replacing around 140000 miles/carbon build up- cleaning every 40k-50k fuel pump and of course all the oil leaks ..then all the suspension ...cooling system at 100k give or take..I see this all day at my friends BMW shop..great cars ..just gotta keep up with them..and if you can do the work yourself then your good to go..Look at FCP Euro for parts ! Warranty all parts including windshield blades and oil! Buy it once and reorder when you need new replacement and get if free! (Have to buy it again but it shows you bought that item and when you return that part it gets credit back on your credit card)
@@BaldadonisMike2021 your right that's why sometimes I want to go with a 330i LCI but I'm very tempted by the e85 3.0 Z4 I think it's great it's so pretty but the e90 coupe is also very handsome but I think the Z4 will go up un value especially the m version and the 6 speed 3.0
@@BaldadonisMike2021 it's a 5 speed, done 100,000 miles but got full service history and is in incredible nick. Only had a test drive picking it up in the new year, it was either this or a boxster I think I like the looks of the z4 more to be honest.
Would you recommend this car in 2022? It looks so small on video but I’m not sure how it looks in person… also do you think if the car would be good if I live in a bumpy city? Nice video btw
Bumpy city ..I wouldnt own it ,no..thats just me..bent rims are no fun ..small yes! I barely fit at 6'4 but I love it! I will buy another if I find one I like and can make a deal on it.
I live in Hollywood and daily drive an 04 3.0 6speed! I have had 3 total. Get a 3.0 not a 2.5. As I have owned both I would say it definitely a worlds different. Stick is up to your preference but imo it’s a hell of a lot more fun that the 2 previous z4 autos i’ve had. Definitely one of THE best daily convertible sports car you can get for the price. I honestly will not be getting another until I’m in a position to buy a newer m40!!
these motors go 400k no issue but you do have to maintain them..oil changes are most important ..so hopefully you get one from a good owner and you ll be happy owner! thanks for the comment!
@@steveb611 Im 6'4 at 235 ish ,I had enough room where I enjoyed driving it vs the older z3 M I had ..I would and will buy another if I can ..But not everyone is the same when it comes to what they would be comfortable in ..it has more room the the Porsche Boxster I have ...thats too small for me, leg room wise not headroom wise
@@BaldadonisMike2021 I love your videos because I learn a lot and you teach me things when I go to buy. I love the Porsche boxsters too but for some reason the Z4 just so masculine looking car. I love the look of it. And I'm about 6 to 2 240 so it sounds like I'll be able to fit in it okay I'm actually going to look at a car this weekend exactly the same color and everything that the one you just sold except it's got a tan roof and it sounds like he's done most of that maintenance at you talked about on your video so I truly appreciate you chatting with me and like I said, I learn a lot from you, but I might buy this one to keep because I like having a toy to drive around in the summer of the odd days. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
You have these wheels on your 3.0? Sport button next to the shifter ? If you do you have a Sport Package, if not you have a base model ,You might have a different set a wheels, but its the Sport button that will be the Sport Package .
can't keep everyone happy! lol..I have almost 500 videos so getting music is time consuming trying to find something different..but let me watch your videos so I can leave a comment ...Oh you dont have a channel ?
