Congratulations on the purchase of a stellar car. I've had my 5.0L 2010 XKR for over 10 years and it passed 201,000 miles last week. Tracked many times, still daily driven, and still a pleasure to drive and look at everyday. It will never leave my ownership as long as I can still drive. It has also been the most reliable automobile I've owned in over 55 years of driving. Spectacular car! Enjoy yours.
I'm sorry you lost your dad, but happy that he left you with a love of Jaguars. I'm in my 60s and if any of my sons love them because I did, that would be good. I have a 2009 XK 5.0 and it's an amazing car.
I'm so sorry for the loss of your dad! I am a Jaguar lover also. I have owned the 2010 XF, 2016 XJ Supercharged and now the 2015 XK Portfolio Coupe. Beautiful car... I love it!❤; I am in my 60's and pray that if something should happen to me that my son and daughter would carry on my love for Jaguars. 🙏
My late father was in motor industry, grew up in Coventry, used to periodically pass Brown’s Lane factory. Now in my 40s, entering XK ownership for a V8, before, as you say!, the world goes completely mad. Looking forward to following your channel.
You have a very, very nice XK and I'm sure your Dad would be proud of you carrying on the Jag ownership in the family. I've had my 2010 XK for four years now and it will be my pride and joy for many more years to come.
I loved the pciture of the Jaguar XJ you had in this video . There was just something about the lines of them that was great and of course chrome trimings
Congrats on your acquisition. One of the prettiest cars ever made in my opinion and I'm sure your dad would've loved it. I've heard the XK referred to as a muscle car with a PhD, and after having my 2013 XKR for almost a year, I'd say that's an accurate description. What initially surprised me is just how "livable" these are. Lots of boot space, smooth ride, sublime interior. You can drive these like a wild animal or poke around town running errands. It's perfectly happy doing either. In terms of performance and style, I think these have been one of the best values on the used market for the past few years, and some people might kick themselves for not picking one up when they were available at relatively reasonable prices. It very well may be Jaguar's last proper GT ever, and that makes these pretty historically significant for the nameplate in my opinion.
I own the same, identical - my daily drive, 185k on clock and runs soooo smoothly. I cannot part with it. Great video and introduction. Thanks for posting 👍
Nice car, Enjoyed this, great value the jags, Sorry you lost your dad, lost mine 6 years ago and it's tough but they'd want us to be happy 👍 All the best and I'm sure your dad's proud and looking down.
I'm doing the same shortly, getting a 2006-7 4.2, going to go for the blue with cream interior though, nice contrast, same reasons as you, before all the world goes electric I want one of the most beautiful cars made in my garage! Hopefully in the next 4 weeks i'll have it, so looking forward to sharing tips!
I have a 2006 that I bought in 2011 and I still love it. Regarding paint, modern Porsche are aluminium so plenty of body shops can sort paint issues, I would recommend finding a really good independent specialist for maintenance as they will be more thorough than Jag. and will investigate faults beyond plugging it into a computer. Finally if replacing the battery get one from Jaguar themselves it will save you hassle and money in the end. Batteries from other brands just don’t cut it.
before I go any further ..so sad for you losing your dad I know how you feel its your best mate to..but just like your farther I had an xj6 4.2 ..then I had a xj6 sovereign..then I had a xj40 Daimler..beautiful car..and then I had a x type 3.0 litre..then I had a 3.0 litre s type lovely car..now I have a xf.2.2 nice car..but getting back to your dear dad ..once you have a jaguar you always have a jaguar..your x.k looks really nice..myself I am looking for an x.k just for weekends looking forward to going to have a good look around..thank you fella for a great video...Good luck and God bless..
The timing chain problem on the earlier XK100, was down to the plastic tensioners they were fitted with prior to 2002 . They had a habit of fragmenting and this lead to catastrophic engine failure. Post 2002 they were replaced with metal tensioners.
That’s stunning. I’ve always loved the XK’s.. the XKRS is such a beast! You could put tiger paint on it with chrome spinners & it would still look like a beast.. I don’t know why JAAGGG didn’t make the RS models rear biased 4WD.. has to be my favourite cars of all time!
When you go for the 4.2 s/c exhaust, it’ll be best to get a Mina gallery high flow breathers. That way the engine will breath better & yourll get more natural sound aswell.
That’s a lovely car… how much did that set you back? I know you will love this. I bought one recently and they really are all that!!! Well done mate and keep us updated.
Thanks for the step by step videos on the xk...I also have the 2006 but mine is in Adriatic blue.... watching in order..I've had mine for nearly 3 years..home work and a good local independent garage specialist..lots to learn ..have you done one with the reversing lights out..? Thanks again.. Trevor
Nice! I bought my 07 XK 2.5 years ago as a 'daily driver'. Something rumbly to compliment my other toys. And I absolutely love it! Looks gorgeous. Feels nice. Sounds nice. I think mine is a keeper. It's the longest I've owned a daily driver. I have no plans to replace because I think 'what the hell would I replace it with?' So much car for the money! Enjoy!
Great video of a great car. Looking forward to more instalments. One observation / question - there seems to be something not quite right about your side windows. They should drop by about 10-15mm when you pull the door handle but yours seems to be dropped all the time? Mine is a 2011 5.0 Special Edition in black cherry that is definitely a keeper
Hello thanks for the comment 😀 the windows are working fine ( i do leave them down a bit when parked up in the garage for long periods to allow ventilation) although maybe when new they would drop a bit more when you pull the door handle, mine only seem to drop a few mm . Bet that 5.0 is lovely
Nice car, didn't know about those bonnet air bags. stop looking at the screen when talking to the camera look at the lens, practice it by yourself until you get comfortable with it.
@@life_on_cars appreciate the videos you’ve done so far being really interesting I’m booked into a audio specialist next week but know I’m probably going to get a big bill as for the aerial antenna if that could just be even half the size it would be fine but I agree it ruins the lines of the car.
Purchased a 63 plate XK Portfolio hoping to do Peak District , Cumbria , and the western northern Scotland coast 😊 what a beautiful driving experience ! I’ve owned a good few brand named high end luxury cars and they were lovely to drive 😊 but not quite as nice as the JJJAAAAAG ! 😂 👍🏻
