@PazNthru

Would it be possible to make the bow smaller? In lenght
@BakaEngel
@BakaEngel 5 месяцев назад
@@PazNthru A good bowyer could, theoretically, but just shortening a bow is risky business. It would require a lot of scraping, retillering, redoing the horn knocks, etc. On top of that, the shorter you go, the more stress the wood is under, especially at those kinds of weights. If you don't have the background in bowyering, especially heavy weight longbows like this, I wouldn't advise it.

@Zawakawaka
@Zawakawaka 5 месяцев назад
Yeah, but you'd need to use a much denser wood. If you're not going with a horn bow then I probably would have used Ipe as it is almost 3 times stronger than hickory and it is another diffuse porous wood, so it makes an excellent bow wood although if you make the bow too light of poundage and too long/wide, sometimes the wood gets ridiculously thin. @@PazNthru

Something like that happened to me one time when I worked construction. Had to pull a form off- a long ass 2x4 - was like 12ft long.screws were stripped and boss was on my ass to move faster so I decided to just leverage it and yank it off. I was in the act of prying it off when I stepped into a trench which had a plank that smacked into the 2x4 , that 2x4 went flying into my mouth. Thought I lost a few teeth. Thank god it smacked JUST under my gums, between lip and chin. Smacked me so hard the edge of the wood cut through my lip and tried to cover it up for 2 hours till the end of the day. Man . . . Good times😂

That's embarrassing, not knowing that you need two grooves , one for Stringer one for string, pull with one hand using your back, the rope should be much shorter,, like five inches longer then the string. He would do it no problem, if he be doing it correctly. If you never pulled heavy bows, no matter how big your biceps , you be lucky if you could pull 80 pounds.

LOL. Listen: Two chairs with non-sliding surface. Far enough away from each other that it holds both ends but leaves enough space to bend. Plant your arse on it, if need be throw down some pints if you're not heavy enough. Fix the string. Enjoy.

the brace height looks way off....thats why youre struggling... if you look youre pulling, i would estimate over 12 inches before youre even close to stringing it....72" longbows are maybe 7-9" brace
