I have to laugh at all the haters Josh gets because he is successful. Most people are too lazy to even research how to build a longbow, let alone do it, then build it a second time, work hard enough to fund the trip, then become proficient with the bow and to top it off, kill a grizzly with it. Keep sitting on the couch and hating people, more for everyone else who is willing to put work in to succeed. Great video and story.
I think you articulated something that the video didn’t quite capture “…then become proficient at the [6 day home made] bow…”. Basically a ton of behind the scenes sweat, effort and money in pursuit in a dream.
Seeing that makes me incredibly humble and, at the same time, sad. Such a beautiful animal, strong, free. I can understand the desire to hunt; I believe it's deeply rooted within us. Perhaps I've been too softened, too shaped by city life, but I would prefer to see this bear alive. Knowing I could kill it but choosing not to take that final step out of respect would likely be my own path. But don't get me wrong, I don't condemn or judge you or hunting... May God protect you. Greetings from Germany
Id say it was. Hunting was necessity to keep us (human) alive in the old times, nowadays hunting for fun is stupid. Invasive species yes, anything else no. IF there is bear that is way too close a city, relocate it or kill, otherwise let it live if no harm is done. If you think about it, we will soon have flying cars and our phones will be like a neuralink on our head and we can write and call just with thinking lol. For many decades hunting has just been a mindless sport of people that enjoy killing, but remember only god can judge us.
there is nothing reasonable about this. just another gathering spot on the internet for a bunch of twisted people. with their kind of reasoning they could justify any cruelty in this world, as long as they aren't the target of it.
The camera work and editing on your channel is getting really good. I really enjoy watching all your adventures. I'm very impressed on the pass through with 63lbs. I was very sceptical at first thinking you would need 80+ to take down an animal like that. Wow!
Because it's a challenging, dangerous thing to hunt and is necessary for wildlife conservation? This isn't a teddy bear, it's a real bear that will really kill you if it chooses to.
So sweet to see you with your daughter. I built my daughter a 17lbs longbow with the exact same lamination form i used for mine (66lbs). Cant wait untill shes able to shoot it ♥
@@wartornax7690 human eats the bear???? dude wtf? most of bears are beeing taken off theyr head , fall and left for wild animals to eat or to rot. Bear meat mostly wont get eaten by humans
So you let the bear bleed to death and die a horrible and painful death? Wow nice great job thats so disrespectful … poor animal … how is it possible for a human being to enjoy something like that? Just Sick
Why don't you go ask a grizzly in the wild if it. Thinks you're a beautiful creature that deserves to live in bliss cause I guarantee you'll find you're answer real fast
bears are apex predators meaning they have no natural hunters and given the size of the alaskan forest they can shoot up of high numbers killing and feeding on whatever small wildlife there is so the rangers and other hunters keep the numbers in check while maintaining balance in the forest. Also I read somewhere you have to pay some subsequent amount of fee for hunting. The money is then used for further conservation of the forest so its a win win situation
Okay… I respect your ability to building and shooting. But what is the exact reason, why this beautiful animal have to die?! Because you have your happy 5min and your daughter has seen her first bear? Just like wtf? I have two little children two, and won’t take a bears life for that…
My dad has built several stick bows over the past few years. So we know how challenging it can be to a animal with one. I am paralyzed from the bellybutton down. But I've been lucky enough to take two deer with one and it is the most rewarding feeling I have ever had. So I know how you feel Mr. Bowmar . Congrats on a huge Grizzly Bear.
Ever since humans have hunted ,the grizzly has brought fear and excitement at the same time . Congratulations on a awesome hunt with a homemade longbow, unprecedented adventure.
Freakin incredible adventure!!!! Look at those claws!!! Hollllyyy smokes, absolutely massive. Imagine if that thing got ahold of you, whew!!! What a hunt, congratulations big dog!! Well done brother🤘🤘
Amazing... just to be a "Shaking" part of the intense wait, patient amount of time, the knowledge, timing... & with your own made bow! At my age and physical condition: most likely not even a chance with a firearm? Most certainly not with a bow!!! Truly... Thank You, J
I m not a hunter and I know this is really common thing to do, but put a shh ton of food a few meters from you and just wait the bear to come and eat it's not hunting, it's like fishing in a tiny pond
I’m not a hunter never hunted in my life and I have to say that’s the coolest thing I’ve ever seen pure determination and focus. What a clean shot this is definitely the closest you can be to nature in our times and damnnn now I realize how damn big a grizzly is claws the size of a finger is crazzzzyyy
What I love most about Josh is his relationship with his wife…to have a mate to hunt with would be my dream, being a good husband and father is more important than personal gains…bless you Josh and his family!
I'm a hunter by myself but let's be fair, he only ate the heart what's a pretty low ratio compared to the whole grizzly. Not saying I don't understand but this might make non-hunters minds in regards to "killing w/o eating it".
It’s so amazing that you can go all over America to hunt all types of animals and put in so much work! Because of your channel I want to start bow hunting. Keep up the hard work👍
Crazy you were up around my hometown to build your bow and the boat you took in alaska was made just down the river from where we live! Great video man
seeing such a dump stupid Thing makes me realy sad. Im so glad, that I life in a country, where its forbidden to hunt with the Bow. And wow, what a great Archer u are, shooting such a big, fed animal from like 18 meters and didnt even hit the killspot realy good. How far did that bear run befor dying?
Awesome hunt Josh. Beautiful family, beautiful bow, beautiful bear in beautiful back country. So happy for you brother. Honestly, I feel indifferent to compound bows, but seeing you build your own recurve bows and challenge yourself has shown a lot about your character. Bask in thy victory my friend!
Cool!! I was chuckling a little bit when you got the shakes because I've experienced those in my career, that was a pretty cool encounter all around. People don't give eating the heart enough credit, one of the tastiest pieces of meat on an animal.
Congrats Josh....How exciting to be able to pull that hunt off....using your home made bow and have the family there....Is and was icing on the cake. 🎂 What a wonderful lasting memory!
This is terrible... Ich dont understand why you need to kill this beautiful animal. We all have seen that the bears live in hamony and then you are taking someones life...
Bears kill humans too you know? Do you go to a bear and say, This is terrible... I dont understand why you need to kill this beautiful animal. We all have seen that the bears live in hamony and then you are taking its life?
Sorry No! When you fight a bear in front of you with a knife ok, if you need this. That would be nearly fair. But it's so coward and low to hunt a bear with distance weapons. To kill such a wonderful predator with coward weapons only for amusement is the attitude of a little girl of a child. If your self confidence needs this ... I cannot understand it. I would rather prefer to watch such beautiful bear alive instead of you.
i bought my first traditional bow yesterday because i wanted to get a jump on practicing for the traditional classic 3d shoot coming up in a few weeks but im also in the middle of doing the research so i can start my own bow build from scratch. im hoping ill have a stave i can work on soon and by the end of summer hopefully have my self built bow ready for shooting. but in the mean time, ill be shooting this purchased traditional and theres nothing wrong with that! cant wait to get my first traditional harvest and finally be a part of that cycle of life and one step closer to being prepared for my move onto the mountain!
What an awesome hunt! I had to contain my excitement when the shot finally happened. Great film! And doing it all with a longbow makes it even more special. Congratulations Josh, and thank you for sharing this experience!
So many great things about this one ! Josh I was really surprised and impressed about the whole family history of Bow hunters ! Down a dirt road sounds like a great great country song! The huge let down of a longtime dream, when the bow broke twice! The fact you made another! The taking your whole family with you! The great shot ! The quality of filming and editing! You are the man ! Congratulations on a true quest for a lifetime dream and accomplishment! In hunting Glenn
