Follow my journey of buying a boat on Alibaba. A link to the boat I bought (and they are now using my actual boat as their stock image!) here; www.alibaba.com/showroom/roof...
Americans need to realize these websites like Alibaba and AliExpress are not scams. I’ve been ordering everything from there for years and sure it takes a little while to get stuff but why spent $12.99 on an olive oil sprayer when I can buy it for .80cent free shipping and wait 2 weeks. Makes no sense. Sales goes for everything else. Bath towels, bedding, phone cases, bike parts, gun accessories, coffee mugs etc.
How wide is this boat? Does the trailer come with the boat? Is it included in the price? Once assembled, can you store it deflated and only inflate when going on the water? How many independent air compartments? When deflated, is it narrower? (trying to figure out if it fits my gate)
Hi, so in the end I understand you are very happy with the boat, what size is it, do you have videos with the boat on the water, hope you keep enjoying your new boat
Hi Boatman, is it possible to send you a PM via this channel? I'd like to pick your brains about some of the process and also to see how the boat is weathering now that you've had it for a good amount of time. Cheers.
How did you attach the console? I ordered a similar boat and am assembling now. Mine is aluminum with teak. Console same shape as yours. Any tips appreciated.
Great video! I have also imported a 480 and it arrived last week! I wanted to check if you ordered with the mechanical steering option? I did and would like to know how you connected from what was included to your outboard. I have a 40 Mercury. Thanks again
Great! I’m sure you won’t regret it. Yes I went for the mechanical steering option. On mine there was a hole in the floor where the helm box goes with a large pipe that lead to rear locker, from there you can pull through to the outboard well. I have to say this wasn’t easy as there was a very tight turn that the end of the steering cable didn’t want to go around (but it did eventually). Put the steering through before any other cables as it needs the most manoeuvring space. Once you have the cable laid up to your outboard, you may need to buy a drag link to attach to your outboard (you can get on eBay for about £30) as mine didn’t come with this. One final point, on the mechanical steering it may be in reverse, if this happens you need to switch the cable to the other side on the steering gear behind the wheel. Good luck!
That great! Thanks for the info. Yeah I have just inflated and it looks great! I will check out the drag link. Under my helm box I have a steering cable but it seems quite short and is a blue cable with a copper fitting on it?
Sorry to bother you again. Did you notice that when you winch the rib all the way into the bow roller it drops off the rear rollers and they flick up the transom? Thanks again
Sorry I missed this, did you manage to get it sorted? On the rollers, I didn’t have this problem but how much are you out by? You can probably move your stantion post back (aft) to move the boat back. I’m happy to drop you my number if you like
There were some additional fees which I'm going to cover in the third video. I'm hoping to have this up in the next couple of weeks. You don't have to be a company to buy from AliBaba though, anyone can do it!
Great! Congratulations on taking the leap. Hypalon I think with hindsight would have been worth the extra for me. I used the Shandong REBO Boat Company (although it wasn’t called that at the time I ordered).
Good morning from the US!!! I came across your video because I am researching buying a rib from Alibaba. Very similar to what you purchased…. Now that you have had the boat have you had any problems…. Would you recommend this option… I’m looking at a 25ft 8.2m … do you have any suggestions?
Hi Scott, I’ve had mine almost 2 years now and I still love it so I’m still an advocate for doing it. Nothing has fallen off yet and with the exception of some slight fading of the teak in places, it’s as good as the day I got it. If I was buying again, I’d probably go for Hypalon (just because I prefer the matt look) and the hydraulic steering. Easy to say with hindsight though, as when I ordered it I wasn’t sure the think would even turn up so wanted to minimise my outlay. 25ft will be a beast and would be interested to hear how you get on.
@@boatman9564 yes I am pricing it out with the Hypalon… was also worried about it showing up so I was gonna do the motor, rigging and electronics when it arrived
@@scottfranza7383 Sounds good. Yeah I used Qingdao Yacht and Trade Co. The contact there was Claire who according to her Whatzapp is now working for REBO Boat (although this may just be a rebranding of the same company). Anyway I’ll text her and ask if she minds me sharing her number with you.
Fantastic series, i would very much like to do the same thing, would you mind me emailing you or giving u a quick call to get some of the nagging questions in the back of my head ironed out?
ok no information at all about the boat , size ? max cap ? Where did u get it? Price?... I mean , nice boat and all but useless vid for ppl that actually want 1
