I BOUGHT A CHEAP OPEL CORSA B FOR £1,295! 

I grew up in Uk but spent many years In Asia so I have a range of perspectives. In some countries and 10-20 year old car in that kind d of condition is considered virtually new, and will be maintained and repaired for many many more years with no consideration of ever scrapping it. The reason so many people feel the need to buy new cars is basically due to the existence of cheap and available credit. In counties where credit for new cars is not available the market is very very different.

You know what, the two lads are naturals at presenting on the video which I did not expect. They come across as authentic, genuine and not trying too hard. Well done boys. Matt you'll have to up your game mate!😂

On the subject of left hand drive cars (I'm from Ireland 🇮🇪 by the way), I lived in France for 10 years, from 2003 to 2013. In 2004, I changed my car to a French registered one, which coincidentally was an Opel Corsa Mk1, in the UK, it would have been called a Vauxhall Nova. Left hand drive of course. One year later I got a 1996 Citroën ZX estate. (In France), fast forward to 2013, I came back to Ireland briefly, then I moved to Italy with the Citroën. When I returned to Ireland in 2016, I still had the same car. By now I was so used to left hand drive, it was as if I'd always driven that way. It wasn't untill 2020, back in Ireland just before Covid 19, I finally reverted to right hand drive, I drive an Audi A6. It took quite a bit of getting used to.. but driving left hand drive for me was no issue at all, even though I'm left handed. My friend in Italy had a Corsa Mk2 from 1997 I think. Great little car it was, compared to the Corsa Mk1 (Nova) which was quite basic really apart from it's electric windows and manual sun roof. Thank you for listening.

I had a 1 litre 3 cylinder Corsa of this age. Couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding but they were solid little cars. I remember they had a reputation of having sensor issues and mine was no exception.

1st car I owned back in 96. Loved it. Came to an untimely end. Rolled it when a drunk woman crossed a national road and I had to swerve hard at 140kph. Walked away without a scratch

My cousin traded in his T reg corsa with 25K miles for £200. If i knew they were going for these sorts of money I would've told him to keep it, or bought it off him.

Living in the canaries we see a load of these opels, but not in as good condition or mileage, they normally have every panel with a ding or a scrape, driven by a scally, of every description, and normally stopped and checked at the side of the road by the guardia civil traffic police, therefore leaving us Opel combo drivers passing by saying Jesus, Maria Jose, having just left the local tapas bar with one more glass of red wine on board than we should. God bless them. Different vlog, enjoyed it , the lads come across well, what had they done so wrong for you to send them on such an arduous trip for that particular vehicle. I've had one of those in the past. The furious 54bhp 1.0L with only AC. Now various things I'd like to point out in order to try to help. First of all those cars (at least the small petrol engine) are known to have fumes issues. Every single year I had issues with ITV (the spanish certificate to keep the car running) and with a car as old as yours, you'll need to pass it yearly. Check that out first before moving it to Spain if you have not yet considered this. Second of all remember the Sticker Regulations in Spain. This car will NOT have any sticker which means it will be banned from any major cities and surroundings and, at some point, you'll be forced to just throw it away. The lowest Sticker (yellow, B class) will be removed from cities like Barcelona by 2026. Which means in 2 years that car has to go to a scrape yard. That's for the "move it to Spain" part. Now, what will I do to the Corsa no matter where you keep it? Take out those ugly wheels and put a new set of good old 2nd hand alloy wheels. Not only for the cosmetics, but also because you'll loose weight and will win some (some) really small margins of less fuel use and better (maybe?) specifications/capabilities? I certainly did that in my 54bhp car, the change was minor but it took away maybe 20 kilos out of the car? Not bad. As those cars are not really any heavy, i'd suggest taking advantage of that if you find a good set of alloys and I am pretty sure you will. I bought some Irmscher and not only they made the car look way better but overall it was a great decission. All the best!

If this was originally for the Italian market why are the instruments in miles and mph? If the cluster got replaced when it was imported it could have 130,000 miles 😃 I had loads of these as hire cars back in the day. The 1.0 3-pot was rubbish, couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding - I think the 0-60 was about 16s. Sounded OK when you bounce it off the limiter though (which you did on every gearchange).

Had a few of these over the years usually with 1 wheel already in the scrapyard, but think the most I paid was 300 and they did the job, brilliant in snow and ice as well just kept going no matter what, found them more reliable than the equivalent fiestas

That must be the only Opel in the UK that hasn't had its front badge nicked!

Plenty of my friends had these as their first car so I’ve sat in loads of Corsa B’s, and that one seems like a proper little gem. And I love the nostalgia story for Matt. Maybe I’ve been watching the channel for too long and Matt’s weirdness is rubbing off but I love this car (but then I also think the PT Cruiser is kind of cool now)

I had a 1998 'R reg' one , Merit spec (poverty spec) paid £900 for it with 48k on the clock! Didn't sell at the auction (Queensferry) brought after the auction back in 2005. My first car the 1.0i 12v was adequate with just me in the car £40 to fill up with unleaded and it got me 430 miles! Yes the timing chain did rattle at start up! Holds 3 litres of engine oil , mine developed an oil leak through the engine oil pressure switch , No power steering but I can guarantee this one will have an electric power steering . It was green and got taken the mickey out of !!! poor 19 yo me! Come 2006 with 53 k I got crashed into on a narrow country lane 300 yds from my house! This vid brought back memories ! I put on 15 inch fox 5 spoke alloy wheels on it with low profiles!!! Not recommended it did 50 mph and 18 seconds later 60 mph tops look good though

The pedals are now in the *correct* place since it is a left-hand drive car. For smaller right hand-drive cars the padels have to be shiftet uncomfortably far to the left to have enough room for the right wheel house.

Just shows you how well made those Corsas were made and how its kept its value compared to Range Rovers etc .As a courtesy car 0-50 was poor to a 2003 1.2 litre though

A cheap Opel Corsa... for £1295. Wouldn't call it cheap but ok edit: nvm I didn't know it was low mileage

The reason this was considered cheap is because we don't get Opel in the UK, we get Vauxhall. So Opels are incredibly rare

Super expensive. These are cost 500 euros or almost for free.

A nice little find. Went to a car show in Essex a month ago and found another example of my first car, a 1987 Metro City. It was cream rather than red, bit I was allowed to sit in it. It had done 8000 miles. Brought back so many memories. Tempted to buy it

Piacenza is in Italy - south of Milan on the road to Parma. I only know because I have a soft sport for Piacenza Calcio 1919 their football club. Its in the Emilia-Romagna region so nice food even if they are in Serie D. Take it back to the supplying dealer as a road trip if they are still there - would make a good vlog

Get yourself some Owatrol plastic and paint restorer it will do a better job than the heat gun and last longer. Once you use this stuff you won’t use anything else for black trim.

Silicone oil should work as well on that faded plastic, works with rubber too.

This was a different format, however I enjoyed it very much. The Corsa is in good condition for its age, perfect for life in mainland Europe. My aunty and uncle live near Los Boliches, I very much enjoy spending time in Andalusia❤.

The Corsa B was one of the most successful models Opel/Vauxhall built in the last 50 years. It even outsold the Polo in Germany because people thought it just was a better package as a small car.

I remember looking forward to driving my Grandads new ‘93 Corsa. I had an ‘89 Nova at the time. Turned out the Corsa was a 1.2i 45bhp version and was the slowest thing ever. If you could see a hill on an A road you had to to put it in 3rd to stand a chance of getting up. And it had the most horrible, heavy, low geared steering. Iwas glad to get back in my Nova!

The 1 litre Corsa's were nippy my late dad had a 1999 version in red brand new and he loved it , as in 1st and 2nd gear the car went very well it used to get up to 40mph quick but after that not much puff left in the little Corsa also 3 cylinders always are more fun they sound way faster than they actually are like Hubnuts Matiz lol
