I am one of the technicians here in Arizona that used to work on this car for the previous owner. Overall it was a solid car. There were some things done by previous owners we were working on mending for the customer. Unfortunately we obviously didn’t get to everything cause the car ended up like this and now in your hands. Glad to see it’ll be resurrected instead of parted out. I’ll be watching for updates. Good luck with the rebuild man
Mate brought a WRX and the guy who washes the cars at the dealership put unleaded in, we went for a drive and punched it up a hill and blew it up so use the correct fuel...
hes a comedian and a CAR GUY! What a fun interesting mix. I love how direct he is and it doesnt feel like hes sugarcoating shit. This has to be my New Favorite channel. The Facts he gives, the input he gives, the quotes, and the funny comments actually make me love this guy even more! And on top of that hes quite humble. Thats quite the cherry on top!
Fellow Evo owner here. Car potentially is running a dual map tune (93 and e85), or exclusively e85. You can find out by holding the gas pedal down with the key in the ignition. If the CEL starts to flash rapidly/slowly, then it’s dual tuned. The dual tune maps switch back to default when you pull the battery, so it may be looking for e85 which is why it starts then stalls out like that - same thing happens on mine when I forget to switch maps. Hopefully that helps some
So if it’s flashing rapidly then that is usually it “loading” the e85 map . If you cycle the key and do it again, it should now flash slowly - that should indicate being on normal gas. As long as you have some premium (93 preferred) it should at least rule out bad / low gas. You pulled the rear seat - the fuel pump is under there and easily accessible from under where the seat cover was. You can check the lines there as well sometimes that fuel filter gets clogged up and causes it as well. Happy to help with any other questions if needed.
there’s no way this guy has only 12k.. i was thinking millions when i went to check. great content bro and i honestly love the way you you show every angle on video by yourself. props to you good work🎉👏
@@EdgasketGarage Heck yeah! well if you need any help finding something or need me to snap a picture of any wires or plugs let me know. also you should look into JDCustoms for some parts for this and heck even for the Audi maybe!
Well buddy, normal folks would get excited if they found a $5.00 joint. I suggest you find a chair out back and have a seat. Smoke that joint and just sit for while. Let your mind take a magic carpet ride. Welcome.
@@EdgasketGarageBecause it's all about finding the right escape. (I actually wanted to quote mudvayne but it didn't really sound right for the context)
I follow lots of car channels so not surprised you came through my feed. What does surprise me is how you don't have more followers. Solid content! Got my sub and a thumbs up today. Looking forward to the build!
When you can't start a small manual car but you NEED to move it no matter what, you put it into first gear take off the emergency brake and turn the starter over until the car is where you NEED it OR the starter goes out OR the battery goes dead. I've moved quite a few cars in this way and so far......No break downs of the starter or anything else. It works.
Just came across my feed , and i think i like the content brotha ... and that evo could potentially outrun the r8 when built right , but that is a extensive build then 😅 but rad bro , i will deff be watching your channel now .. idk who ya are but soon to know lol 😂 peace and love bro keep it rad stay safe and build on.. l8z and keep having fun brotha 💪🏽🤘🏽✌🏾
Saw this from some dude on TikTok who ripped the first minute or so of the vid but super glad I came to see the rest of the video, excited to see how this build turns out
Dude hooked up the jumper box backwards maybe? Either way this was a fun one yet again Ed. Hope you continue to grow man. 10k subs next stop, then to the moon!
The red anodized can is an oil vapor catch can keeps the intake cleaner. They probably tried to wrap the valve cover because they didn’t have to sand and prep for paint that way.
I subbed because Ed Gasket eeeeeeeeeeyyyyyy nice play on words, I just did a Camaro lt head gasket this evening smh not fun but this put a smile on face thanks
Your initial story reminded me of my teenage years. I always dreamed of putting Cragars on my "dream" car. Well, never did get the "dream" car and the Cragars were replaced by Baby Moons! I did interface into adulthood unblemished too!
Assuming you are on a stock ecu.. tuned... usually the map switching for the 91/e85 is done by pressing the gas pedal And the engine light flashing fast or slow.. Indicates map switching.. could be on the e85 tune .. reverted to what ever tune was Initially set ..from maybe battery being disconnected for awhile
Mine was a 2nd generation Lexus GS as a kid now grown up I own 2, a 2003 gs300 facelift model and a 1998 GS 400. Amazing cars. I get the most fun out of them
@@EdgasketGarage Heck yeah it is! I’m just starting to learn wrenching on a vehicle, being my own “lube tech” with my oils and coolant. Replacing a nasty 21 year old radiator (yes my 2003 GS300 had its ORIGINAL RAD!) and now I’m working on ways to clean up my iron block from all that rust traveling from an old radiator to the NA 2JZ-GE* engine it has in it factory.
As a side note I lived in Uzbekistan for a year 🇺🇿 wonderful people and wonderful culture and food. You don’t run into people from there very often at all.
Those gas can nozzles are a big pain in the ass. Back in the day the cans with the vent plug were the best. Now you can buy the kit to replace the crap they come with now lol.
As an English man who's had several EV0s never put normal petrol in it. They need High octane which in the UK is a lot more here tropically Shell V-power . I was cringing at presumably normal unleaded petrol. If it was my car id completely fill it or drain out whats in it and then High octane also same with Imprezas .
Hey man I could use some gravel cause I need to level a greenhouse 😂 I would have go use this rusty pos that hardly runs but it still drives and hauls 😂
You do not have to cover the engine bro. Every detailer pressure washes the engine bay. I have personally pressure washed (low pressure) at least a dozen of my vehicle's engine bays and never had a problem. Getting the engine wet to clean the bay is the same thing as driving through a deep puddle of water or while it is raining hard outside. The engine gets wet, it's made too.
Hey man, good points all around. I also spray my engine bays. I only cover this one because there are broken components under the hood. cracked electrical connectors etc from the crash.
That R8 is in Bascawen NH I have seen it down the road from where I live at a shop by a river that is all I will say and there are a lot of other nice cars there as well like that purple viper hmm.
‘Grind it up and put it in the paint’… With that level of passive aggression, I think the answer to your question: ‘what should I do with it’ is quite obvious to anyone with a hint of logical thought process.
Bought an WRX this way a few years back. "light rollover, moderate damage" Ran when wrecked. Found out the car broke the timing belt and he rolled it off a cliff to get the insurance payout. We never learn do we?
Compression testing 101.... if your cranking a car by key to check for compression that is fine your looking for your jump but as you turn the ke it hits the exhaust cycle and you will loose your pressure. A leakdown test is what you were hoping to do... that would require a simular setup ... mine is what you had my Guage is on the top of a t fitting with the one strait in the motor and the other with a working shut-off valve and air fitting ... I put about 50lbs of air in the cylinder making sure I'm in TDC and wait a hour then recheck... not the tools fault
@@EdgasketGarage The floor would work! Just put some thought into it! I wouldn’t want to push anything up your driveway. Great video looking forward to the next one!
