I used to be in the furniture trade . It’s called bonded hide. The top surface is a mixture of ground leather upholstery off cuts and PVC . It’s allowed to be called leather as there is a leather content. The top surface becomes brittle due to use , conditions etc. it cracks and exposes the white base cloth. It’s not repairable and has to be replaced. I can’t believe a quality manufacturer would use bonded hide as durability is so poor. Penny pinching as usual.

@Luke James-H22 have to replace the sensor in the seat or I think you can find a connection that overrides it on ebay but wouldn't recommend that 🤣
