Datdon Dondat they’re mapping lots of TSI’s with great results - if you check out their Facebook page you’ll see the Golf R’s and S3 8V’s getting maps. They also map them safely to avoid over-stressing the IS38 turbos as they’re known to be a weak point when pushed too hard
Lads you should make a video together, as now both of you have a mk5 gti, it’ll be great to see the difference, and if i’m not wrong you both have almost the same power as well, Hamza’s is 350 bhp auto and Calvin’s 365 bhp manual.

I just sold my 30 last Sunday and it’s a big regret. Some intercoolers are that big for these engines that the bumper ‘droops’ slightly which looks like could be your issue. Also the crash bar has to be trimmed to accommodate it depending on the brand. S3 intercoolers are common as they don’t heat soak as much as the original and a straight bolt on. I’d suggest changing your brakes to r32 or s3’s if you’re running extra power too! I’ve had two mk5 gtis and both times had the wings and one had the boot replaced. I had VW paint the whole edition 30 while they were at it and I contributed to the cost. You should be in good hands if it’s the original paint. Helix clutch and DMF is the preferred clutch for the manual as it’s relatively light and will handle a stage 2+ tune from r-tech which should see you around the 400ft/lbs. The Ko4 turbo in these engines are brilliant and can handle so much more power over stock.
Nice project car with plenty of work on it. I have a 2008 ED30 DSG with stage 2+ ....380BHP, 495Nm, with 200.000Km on it. It won't depreciate anymore, regardless how many more "miles" I put extra on it.

Delighted to see one of these on the channel. One of the best cars I own, I had a 25th Anniversary as well, gutted I ever sold it to be honest. Sad to see an ED30 in such a poor state, but looking forward to watching you bring it back to life, they’re an awesome car when they’re in full health
Great watch, I bought an immaculate standard ED30 in candy white/ 3 door just over a year ago for a small fortune. I sold it within weeks, it just wasn't for me. None the less a cracking looking car and certainly turned heads!
I love my ed 30. Bit crap in the wet but engines are great and strong. I got the manual also and prefer it to a mk5 r32 dsg I tried. I got a pearl black 5 dr but the white looks sweet.
Can't wait to see what you do with this Hopefully fix all the bodywork issues and fit all the right parts back on it as some of them are so wrong I have a standard silver one which I love

I love the MK5 Edition 30's..and MK4 Anni's/MK6 ED:35's etc....mint. This particular ones had a beating by the looks of it..however its not too high the mileage..131k aint that much for a German engine. It just needs some interior/exterior tarting up and a new clutch..probably a stage 2 sachs..and put a powerflow straight-through exhaust on it....
Not problem Calvin as you well know it. Its a decent one of the best sold/common cars. Its a buy it with your brain not your heart sort of car....sort of the thing when I bought scoobys instead of evos back in the day. Good buy... would defo try to make it looking stock at least

Gonna get everything mechanically sound first (clutch, clean oil pick up pipe, timing belt etc) then probably stage 1 R-Tech - not gonna go stage 2 as it’s my daily
I went and saw it when it was advertised on eBay it’s a right shed.. felt like every single nut and bolt was loose on it. Dash was like a Christmas tree. Timing chain was rattling and it had pretty bad oil leak

My 59plate Octy VRS is on 168k at the mo... but a diesel! Also got some rust issues on the sills and boot, however Skoda wouldn't entertain a warranty claim the turds!

The car has been in an accident, as you can see the panels on the front are totally fucked. That's because on the MK5 it is very hard to repair the front bonnet.

Calvin if that car isn’t yet 12 years old VW will change/repair those rusty front and rear wings on the anti corrosion warranty, they changed loads God knows where they were getting the steel from
Calvin's Car Diary. Heard these corrosion warranty are subject to body work being check along side service. So basically if it picked up by dealer when it’s taken For a service you covered. But looking at it I think they would laugh at you 😭
I had a seat leon which come with 10years corrosion warranty , I was at 9 years and seat would only cover half the cost, which they said would be £1200, for a pair of rusty wings and front part of the lower sills where the wings met. I told them to fuck off, I got a pair of second hand genuine wings and had it done myself £400. Looks like that golfs had a front ender tho.
Alan i had my old Mk5 R32 virtually entirely re painted by VW when it was 9 years old as the front wings went rusty again after being changed before i owned it, and they also had to replace the side skirts as they had to break them to get them off, i gave them £300 to paint the bonnet and front bumper whilst it was there It’s all in the approach 😉
The wimgs on front rust as they put sponge between wings and body behind arch liners to prevent vibration and noise??? And surprisingly the sponge holds water built up and rusts from inside out!!! Worlds daftest idea or what..😂😂
Generally the fly wheel and release bearing needs to be changed..best part of a grand for the uprated clutch as the OEM clutch is only good for 300ftlb torque on the tfsi engines
