I knew it from the thumbnail but only because I've seen the silhouette of mine so often. Finally, one of the channels I really enjoy and has more followers on youtube than I do will be doing Pan America videos, I can't wait! Congratulations and welcome to the Gravel Glide Club & Adventure Bro-ism! For long trips- custom ride mode settings, suspension, then choose "comfort". Luxury car smooth. I'm hoping your addition will help grow Pan Am appreciation!
Really appreciate that Chase - Didn’t have to ride it too far to know that it really is true performance - Already got it going in for a few changes here and there, stay tuned and thanks for the kind words! 🏁⚡️
@@FXDLSBrooklyn I've been talking to Steve at Stealth Pipes and he's working on a pipe for the Pan Am, something that looks a little more old-school moto-gp than the current straight muffler type of offerings everyone else has. I can't wait to see what you come up with!
I live in northern NH and just got my '23 FXLRS and '06 YZFR1 out of hibernation this past weekend. I love 'em both and they get along in the garage. I bet you'll find the same thing. The FXLRS is like driving a truck compared to the R1. I haven't ridden the R1 in quite a while but I do love it. I'm surprised I didn't break the shifter off the R1 on initial ride...so much shorter throw than the HD. I haven't ridden a PA but I bet it would be a similar difference. Also the R1 felt like I was sitting on top of a toy horse until I got used to it again. Didn't take long. Variety is great. Let us in on how it feels for you.
Congratulations, enjoy it, I test road the Pan American, it’s a nice bike but to me it felt no difference than a Japanese bike. I’m 6-2, The stock seating positions for me was uncomfortable, it had me leaning forward, putting pressure on my wrists. I look forward to seeing you customize this bike. I expect the FXR to be sold, hopefully you get some good money for it
It's definitely a very far departure from a traditional Harley cruiser, which is part of the reason why I like it so much as just having the variety keeps things interesting 🏁⚡️
Lol shocker.... those mfers are a blast and got that quickness....i used to have that flat olive drab on my dyna back in the day.... like 2008.... I've been ahead of the times 😂😂
Very interested in seeing how this evolves. I have the Low Rider ST and love it for all the reason you highlight on your channel. The other bike I considered was the Pan America. If I were to get a second bike (tempting), it likely would be a Pan America. I suspect I am going to be increasingly tempted to do so based on your content.
Absolutely - I still love my FXLRST, however these are two completely different worlds - Will definitely keep you guys in the loop as the miles progress!
Congrats on the Dirt glide! I watch your channel on the regular but will be tuning in as I have had my eyes on the pan am for a while..reliability has stopped my purchase but I hear the 24’s have addressed some of those issues..ride safe 🤙🏽
Hell yeah! Pan am special with the ARH is awesome to flick over to sport mode get the suspension dialed up. Now you gotta get VonGasphalt on a Pan Am in the states 😄
Your first upgrade should be to trade that in for a BMW GS, lol! JK, congrats on the bike. It is going to be tougher than you think to take that on a long trip and then get back on a cruiser, the comfort and performance is top notch
NosyJoe commutes on a PA (those initials for a motorcycle with a history of being a part of a counter culture, well...) of course Joe, is very good at not following counter culture trends and likes different motorcycles (that he commutes on year round.) Adventure bikes are greater sport touring motorcycles than actual sport touring bikes, sorry, not sorry, The Gorilla Biker's VeeStrom 1000 was better suited for the Tail of the Dragon than touring bikes and anything the manufacturers deem as ST. The Tail of the Dragon was washed out, rough, off camber, and covered in gravel and dirt. I owned, what feels like a different life now, a Triumph Tiger 800, I bought it because the state road department graveled the first five miles of my rural commute and it stayed like that for two years, I owned a really pretty candy apple Blue and chrome Street Glide and at the end of every five mile commute it was covered in lime dust and my teeth were ground down from the gnashing and cringing of #2's careening off of it, let alone if you met oncoming traffic. I traded it for an Adventure bike. It was not a mistake and sometimes I wonder if I screwed up by trading it for the Road King. (In all fairness I tried trading my Street Glide for a HD Roadster that I was going to add dual sport tires to, but the dealerships low balled me hard on trading in the Street Glide for a "sportster" in comparison to the Triumph dealer. ) The Tiger was supermotardish light on the highway, gobs of ground clearance for curves and really cushy wheel travel for the real world pothole and washouts of real backroad curvy commuting, power, riding modes, decent aftermarket and riders at the local European bike night approved of my choice of motorcycle instead of potato potato jokes...(the joke happened last night when I showed up on my EGS...jokes on them, I still ride "fire roads" not just to Starbucks. ) the only issue I had with Adventure bikes is the midmount position which kills my hips and knees which always takes me back to HD touring bikes with floorboards that can be used in many positions and ground down when the feelings are just as GP strong. I think HD needs to build a dedicated "ST" version of the PA like Suzuki did with the VeeStrom. Realistically, only a small percentage of PA owners will actually use them as engineered ...just like all Adventure bikes of all brands. BUT saying all of that, don't sneeze at the ability of Dynas, FXR's and Sportsters on gravel roads, (I mean I've got to stay on brand here!) I have yet to ride a Softail on a gravel road so I can't speak on that behalf! ) but adding a skid plate and a spray can care about paint jobs, turns your middleweight HD into a respectable dual sport machine...and yes it's a problem that Rusty Butcher moved his business to Tennessee and I'll be able to see his monstrosities in person! Ride Dynas, Ride FXRs, Ride Electra Glide Standards(?) off the beaten paths!
Man I forgot that you had that Tiger! I've heard other people on the taller side speak to the same issue you mentioned, like I said, I'm super new to the adventure bike game so have no idea what the solution would be. Oh yeah, we'll still be riding Dynas and Ultra Classics off-road still
I am very surprised by this choice, but not that much in the end and it is a well-balanced reasoning and a beautiful project in line with great values... Have a good trip and best regarss from France. I will continue to follow...
Congrats on the new ride man. I hope it fairs you better than it has a few of my friends who owned one. They said the Pan America spent more time in the shop than on the road. I am anxious to see what you will be doing with this new scoot!
Yeah I've definitely heard the same sentiments myself, and best believe we warrentied that engine - Will be keeping you all posted, first 500 miles has been nothing but smooth 🏁⚡️
That is really cool , I keep looking at those , me and my riding buddy talk about them , possibly the next step , good luck and can't wait to see the mods you got planned . Fresh new direction always keeping it interesting. Ride safe and keep the rubber down and shiny side up.
Congrats !!! What a great bike and the story behind it. Doing this with your father, has to be a really special project for the both of you. Lot's of luck with the new bike. When are you going to do a 1K In A Day test ride? Ride Safe !!! 🙏🏻
I saw you at Nassau Harley on Monday filming a video while I was getting my Pan America repaired. When you pulled onto Sunrise I saw exactly how fast that Dyna really is. Enjoy the Pan, I bought mine 4 weeks ago and haven't touched any of my other bikes since. The Pan is my fourth adventure bike and while I don't really do much off road riding I find them to be the perfect daily commuting vehicle for N.Y.C. The high seat height really lets you see what's going on around you, the suspension is excellent for the shitty roads and the horse power will get you out of a bad situation quickly. Good luck with the new bike and maybe I will see it blasting around Bushwick.
It would be cool to see you take an ADV class. Maybe check in with Doodle and see where she took/takes her classes and ride out there. Could be a cool series of videos. Maybe even a colab with Doodle ⚡
None taken, I'm defintely not on the taller side standing at 5'7 - THe fact that it sits so damn high is one of the main reasons why I like it so much performance wise
It was starter clutch issue at first, dealer could not find the reason for several months. Only after this issue became known more widely it was replaced. Fuel pump that started howling after several thousands miles. Small issues like, exhaust heat cover that just broke off and rear rack that cracked while I was lifting bike on center stand. End of my patience was clutch that slipped and dealer could not find any problems when inspecting it. After some time gearbox developed clunky gear shifting and because noone could say wats wrong and inly solution was aftermarket clutch and maybe gearbox repair, that was the end of my adventure with PanAm.
Awesome. I also have a PAS and you’re one of the ones I go to for Low Rider content! Great bike. Keep an eye on it and don’t hesitate to march right back to the dealer and put your foot down. My favorite custom map: copy sport, throttle response +1, suspension: comfort
Really appreciate that! Got it from a dealership I’ve been working with for years, so trust ain’t an issue there, definitely looking forward to messing with those maps!
