It’s so good to be back here!! Meet my new bestie ‘Alaska’! 😍 Many of you guessed it right!! Tomorrow, I’ll release a new blog on www.itchyboots.com where I explain in more detail why I chose this bike and not another adventure bike 😋 LET’s GO!!
Stop off in Texas on your way to Alaska and I’ll throw some parts on it haha. For real though you can change the rear shock and keep it low if you want. I’m working with race tech for my crf300l. I’ve got a custom shock getting built and a spring with revalve kit for the forks. The suspension is silly on these 300s.
@@nielsdebakker3283 uh the Grom wasn’t my first bike lol. I had a few before that including an R1. Plated wr450f sm, Xr650r, you should see my MT-07 Adv!
Great choice Noraly and nice mods - out of interest did you consider changing the stock tyres?? Looking forward to seeing you hit the road again and resuming the trek to Alaska!! Best of luck!!
Thanks Andy! Stock tyres are terrible indeed haha 😅 but I thought it a waste of money to immediately buy new tyres so trying to get a couple of thousand kms out of the stock ones first!
Hey Noraly, knew you got the CRF300 Rally, the minute I saw the shape under the cover, I was 99% sure and no so stocked you got it, even more excited because you're decision making was exactly the same as mine. Light and off road is always more fun and flexible, can't wait for mine. Unfortunately a long wait still and so long enjoying my CRF250 Rally. Thanks for sharing all your mods very helpful. Cheers Ryan 🤙
Greetings from Texas, I found you about a week ago (Sept. 2022) and have been binge watching Season 1, 2 and 6. I'm not a motor cyclist but I can't stop watching Loraly's exploits around the world. She is amazing in her own right but taking us along on her RU-vid video journey reveals the best of her. I am 80 and I feel like I am her phantom sidekick enjoying the world and her amazing personality. Many have said she should be recognized as a world ambassador and I agree. Thanks for being the delightful influence that you always seem to be. I'll be watching. Best wishes Loraly and "Let's go".
Good to hear your back on the road again with a new motorcycle. I wish my father-in-law was still alive to see your new episodes. He passed away this past January and loved watching you. He was actually buried with one of your signature "Itchy Boots" face coverings and always supported you and bought your merch... RIP Roger Schmidt
My condolences. My mother also passed away this year on mother's day. She wasn't a fan but it was nice keeping up with Noraly as we also live in South Africa.
Noraly, I'm 70yrs young and I turned to the X300 Versys from 750 & 1000cc Aprilia's in 2018. Haven't regretted it one bit. I'm having a ball touring with it. This summer with a friend I went to Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Colorado. Averaged 64 mpg. Never wanted more power, stayed away from interstates. Your going to love it. Looking so forward to seeing you again. God bless you. On the rear shock, try HyperPro, not that expensive. I got one for my X300, much improvement.
She has 3.5 million comments on this season alone. If she took 30 seconds to read each one and worked 8 hours a day doing so, she would be done READING THEM in about 10 years. But then there would be another 200 million to answer and she could retire from ever riding again, just to sit and read these comments the rest of her life.
I bought the CRF 300L this year, i weigh 110kg and without any suspension mods we have been on some crazy offroad/onroad adventures, having said that I would have bought the same bike you did had I been able to get one. On your way to Alaska you have to come through Prince George, British Columbia, Canada I am a huge fan of your channel! If you need a place to stay, my family, and my door is open for you. We will have the kettle on and a warm bed and fire ready to welcome you. Anything you need we are at your disposal.
Likewise at our house near Whistler, BC. and Vancouver if you need a maintenance break. Hard to say which route you'll take north from Mexico ; Bee line up I-5 or # 95, or more interestingly to Grand Canyon then north thru Moab to Yellowstone , into Alberta to Jasper then Hopefully Jasper to Prince George.
As you make your way north, to Alaska, having lived there for 27 years I can highly recommend a publication called the "Milepost". I'm not sure if they have an electronic edition yet, and the hardcopy may be a bit large for your travels, but the nice thing about this book is that it has information about every "road" in Alaska, mile by mile. Things such as points of interest, fuel (as you've seen from your travels, fuel is not always available when and where you need it), lodging etc.. I am so envious of your adventures and am enjoying traveling along with you on your life journey.
If you buy the book, you get access to the internet copy free. I am planning my trip to Prudhoe Bay in May-June and that book was the best planning decision I made.
It is awesome. As we traveled by truck and camper I as passenger kept up on what was next to see. A great thing for you to read the night before to have an idea of what is ahead on the AK Hwy, if that is the route you take.
You're going to love Alaska. Not sure what your semi-planned route is through the US states but Utah's canyonlands are awesome. Looking forward to all of your new episodes.
@@trevorjameson3213 I think onbest rides you can do is the canyonlands in to the Rocky Mountains and Ouray, through the middle of colorado and then coming out in western-colorado's Durango and Mesa Verde, in to the grand canyon. I've been wanting to run that for the longest time.
As a Honda Africa Adventurer rider in state of Utah where I spend 70% off tarmac our off roads can be very technical or very long & rough. You can drive around the ring of Utah on all dirt for 2000 miles. Noraly, if you head towards Utah, I would live to help you out thru our state so you can see the beauty Utah can show you off road.
You can't go wrong with a Honda in my opinion. Started out 50 years ago on a Honda CT70 then to a ST90. I've been riding the same Honda XL250R since 1984 that I bought new and it has over 20,000 kilometers on it. It's never once failed me or failed to go where I wanted to go. A couple years ago I added another Honda when I purchased a new XR650L and it's been amazing. Relatively light weight and powerful as far as I'm concerned. I use it for trail riding as well as longer distance trips. A trip to Alaska would be awesome so I hope you make it this time! I also think riding the TAT (Trans America Trail) would be awesome. The bike shop you purchased Alaska from has a huge inventory. In Oregon where I live the local Honda dealer is basically out of bikes and has no idea when they will get any. They are struggling with spare parts too due to supply chain problems. Man I hope this mess gets straightened out soon. I look forward to living vicariously through your videos! Keep up the great work.
Have had Hondas since the early 80s. From CD, XR, MTX, VFR, CBR and VTS. The best there is! Tried other brands like Yamaha (better now than 20 years ago, perhaps even very good) and would not touch Euro or American bikes even if I got one free. Honda all the way and never in all my years been let down. After the NC750X DCT at the moment as it is perfect for my needs. Wouldn't mind Noraly's latest but the Rally is not sold in South Africa. She is a clever girl and I believe the 300L Rally is the best adventure bike a single rider could buy (public). Now for my 'Honda Wings" tattoo....
I have a ER6n with 75000km, Honda is not the only one who make great stuff. The most important thing is maintenance, if you keep it right, it won't go wrong.
I started out 55 years ago on a Super 90! First bike I had ever ridden at age 12. Never looked back and have been riding ever since. Our local dealer seems to have a pretty decent Honda inventory. He’s here in Middle Tennessee, I think it’s one of the largest Honda dealers in the state.
1:25, I can't agree more about the weight issue. All these people who fantasize about riding Back Country on a BMW GS1250 are in for a shock when they drop it (and they WILL drop it, sooner or later) & have to pick it up.
So happy that you’re back! My significant other and I have been suffering from Itchy Boots withdrawal! Looking forward to these new adventures. Your new bike rocks! Rock on!
Hi, I am South African & I must say, loved your S.A Adventure. It was amazing to see parts of my country through your eyes, and we get to experience more. Love your videos, keep it up. Ps. - geniet jou nuwe motorfiets😁
I KNEW IT, I knew it!!! Once you try 250L, there's no way back. I am waiting for my 300 Rally as well. I put 30K on the 250L in one year without a single problem. One more simple update I would recommend is the lower SeatConcepts seat, it makes a world of difference on longer rides. Good luck
Great choice for your purpose. A stiffer rear spring will be easily available: can even be made to order. Same height, just a little stiffer. Excited for you and your new journey. Go Itchy.
"Good morning internet", long time since I heard that phrase, but now shes back again. Let the adventure begin. It´s so nice to have you back again.Mike / Sweden
Looking forward to “join” you in your next adventure. Will be watching from Namibia 🇳🇦 Congratulations with your new travelmate, wish you many safe kilometers!
Excellent choice. 2 extra ignition keys and a center stand might be a good idea. Lot's of sharp rocks and mud on our roads. The bike shops in Anchorage usually have excellent tire/tube advice and will put a set of tires on hold for you at no charge. There's 35 species of mosquitos waiting for you. Peak season is usually mid June through July. Godspeed!
@@browngreen933 My uncle and cousin where life-long, full-time, loggers, trappers and hunting guides in northern Ontario. They always swore by Deep Woods Off. They said if you're going to be working at a spot in the bush, find a stump about 50ft from where you'll be working and spray it all over with Deep Woods Off. The mosquitos and black-flies will all go to the stump and leave you alone. For actual insect repellant, they used "Muskol" or a home-made recipe made with bear grease and native herbs. Those ingredients are a little hard to find if you're just passing through.
Hooray! I hope for you two things. 1) some one out there will be able to gift you a titanium exhaust - less weight. 2) with the correct spring you should be able to gain 10%-20% higher spring pressure in the rear and even drop 1 or 2 cm seat height. Cheers to you. from middle usa
I just started following you. A guy that I play football with told me about you. I am in Canada and ride a Harley and a BMW, so I enjoy your adventures and appreciation for the differences in motorcycles. If you are near Vancouver let us viewers know, it would be nice to see you. until then, continue to ride safe and enjoy every turn of the wheel.
It was so amazing to see your lovely smile and to hear “Good Morning internet” again after your Southern Africa adventure. Your new bovine friends seemed to approve of Alaska and it looks like it will be an awesome bike for your travels. With the recurrent surges in the coronavirus and its various strains, I was fearful that you would not be able to venture far from the Netherlands. Hopefully, that will not present problems and you will not be stuck somewhere in South or North America. Stay safe and well and I am looking forward to the upcoming adventure.
Hey Noraly, nice bike ! For suspension challenges (firmer/not higher) I can refer to Hyper-pro in Alphen aan den Rijn here in The Netherlands, these guys are magicians when it comes down to motorcycle suspension. If you have a problem they can fix it and they can fix it fast and you'll be astonished by the result ! Just give them a call.
I've been saving to buy this same bike for over a year now, and it's popularity is gonna skyrocket because of Itchy Boots! Gonna make an already hard to find bike even harder to get. But at least everyone who gets one will have an awesome bike.
@@ekimandersom4478 That's awesome that it's readily available in your area, wish it was the same for me. 8 month + wait list here in my province in Canada.
HI Noraly, So thrilled to see your new season starting and to hear the excitement in your voice. More important it was nice to see the cows watch approvingly of your new bike. 😁 May you always moooove smoothly. Cheers
When I heard about the new bike reveal, the CRF300L Rally was at the top of my list of your possible choices! I happen to own a 2021 CRF450RL (which is what is sold in the USA) and I think you made the right choice with the CRF300L given your planned Alaskan adventure. Even stock, the CRF450 almost has too much power when the going gets rough, and unless some expensive mods are done tends to stall a lot in technical terrain. Fun bike otherwise!
Noraly,I had participated in ur 65,000kms. journey through the Americas with u & it had been an exhilarating, beyond words one.also I salute the way in which u have faced & tackled the obstacles, hardships with courage & heart.I also respect the skills u have gained through these awesome continental journeys. It's has been a valuable experience for me.looking fwd for ur future endeavours.
I don't even ride a motorcycle but you are by far my favorite RU-vidr! So much positive vibes and I love the fact that you show us all these amazing things around the world. I wish you all the very best and safe travels ahead! Cheers from Budapest, Hungary ❤️ Laszlo
Noraly, I for one have missed your infectious enthusiasm and joyous laugh for far too long now. Welcome back and here is wishing you and Alaska many safe and fun-filled miles together....of course with us all, along for every single one of them 😊 Bon voyage Noraly.
Excellent choice, “almost” the one I thought you would pick, the 300L. But I realize the Rally might make more sense for your needs; more gas, a windscreen, and a bit of fairing. My hope was that Honda had been watching you, and would offer you one for free, but alas, that is their missed opportunity, it would have been SO nice of them. Anyway, I'm sure the Rally will work out the best for you. I was actually surprised that you didn’t upgrade the tires, and I’m happy you didn’t. The IRCs performed great for me on the used 2017 CRF250L I bought last summer. I wore them out and just recently changed them, they are louder, and the difference in handling is minimal! (Dunlop 605 rear, Pirelli MT21 on front)
Why give her a free one when they are getting the exposure at her expense, should put a custom Itchy Boots wrap on it as some makers did with their tools, ie painted them black.
It broke because of the rally, not the fuel can. Now she got a bigger tank on the bike, so probably not any fuel can. Don't think you listen to the video much. And she is not going full throttle all day. there is speed limits where she is going now.
@@Gismo3333 Think when you going off piste like she does I suspect she will carry an extra fuel tank but maybe just a 5l. (The tanks on these Hondas arent huge).
@@Gismo3333 the 300 has a pretty low top speed. Plenty of places here in Texas where you’d be pushing the bike just to reach the speed limit. Can’t comment on what it’s like up north though
Noraly, you have already proven to the adventure riding community that it is possible to tour the world on a small displacement motorcycle! Once again, you have made an excellent choice! Always remember the early Honda advertising slogan, “You meet the nicest people on a Honda”. That is certainly true today! Can’t wait for your next installment and we find out about your preparation to re-start your adventure!
By the way Noraly, CONGRATULATIONS on achieving the 900,000 subscriber mark! Wow! What an adventure it has been! I’ve enjoyed every video and hope to continue to travel the world with you through South and North America and many more adventures to follow!
Welwel, Noraly is back. That honda was indeed an easy one to guess. We are all looking forward to your new trip...so...go girl! BTW, if you'r in Alaska, don't bother to come back to Holland, just cross over the beringstraat and start season 7.
Relations between Russia and the United States are not the best right now. I'm afraid the Russians will not mistake him for an American agent. Yes, and there are practically no roads in Chukotka
Ahh, fantastic to have you back. I hope you and Alaska have an amazing adventure for season 6. I hope you can see from most the comments, how much we, your viewers, enjoy these adventures through you. Thanks a mil for taking us along.
I just discovered your channel. I kind of like your soul and the way you express your happiness and inner strength. What a wonderful person! You also motivated me to buy the same bike. I will watch your following videos to see how far that pretty Alaska could take you. I sincerely wish you the best of luck with everything else. Thank you so much for being simply what and who you are. You've just got a new subscriber.
Yaaaay, welcome to the club! Very happy with mine - we did 6,500 miles of adventure travel this summer and the bike never skipped a beat. I went with the basic YSS rear shock which was easy to get, easy to fit and, is a good enough improvement for me and my luggage, without breaking the bank. Safe travels in Series 6!
We're all so glad to see you're back, we have all been in a dark place too long without getting our Itchy Boots video fix! Great choice on Alaska (Bike & destination!)
Excellent bike choice!! Light, easily and conveniently serviced. The service intervals are way too short on the 450L. As long as it isn't too tall it will be just right. So happy to have you back!
Well done Noraly on getting Alaksa. This would be the ideal bike in terms of weight to power ratio and ease of maintenance cost and parts availability. Been following your journey since season 1 when you visited my country. Blessings from Malaysia to you on the next journey.
Finally another video, welcome back. This should be really interesting 😁 . The first snow is pouring down and the temperature was down to -11°c, perfect weather to go inside and watch another episode! 😊
I mean, think about it - their day consists of eating grass, mating, and sleeping. Would you not be interested if a human was filming right next to you?
8:00 every biking youtube channel ive seen: "NEVER RIDE IN RAIN, YOU WILL DIE" Noraly in the rain on grass and mud brand new bike: "What? Nobody told me that? Oh well" xD This is what a real rider is, not the youtube scholars. Thank you.
Hello from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 , I think you are such an inspiration to women all over the world. I've just finish watching some of your episodes when you are in Alaska. I'm not a biker but I'm thinking about it. My husband is a biker. He plans on going to the Yukon next summer. Good luck in your future adventures!
I was over joyed when I found out it was the 300L Rally. I have heard it should be as reliable as Savanah but with a little extra ponies. I have a xr650l modded which has a history with me but older I get the smaller bikes seem to be wiser for many reasons. There are waiting lists for the 300L in Canada. I think this dualsport is the ultimate and I hope time will prove it. Donnie
It makes me very happy she went Honda and the 300L Rally. Perfect bike for the trip. Super reliable, cheap, perfect size, efficient, larger fuel capacity, massive suspension travel, 21 inch front and I reckon damned sexy too. Fabulous bike and the fact that it is Big Red means she will ride it and own it until 2050 at least. Cannot wait for the vids on Alaska.
You know you're famous when the local cows know who you are 😁 oh I'm so glad you're back! I have missed you! Love the bike, looking forward to your next adventure!
Well I thought it would have been the KTM after your rally time. Instead of a GS I went with an Africa Twin Adventure Sports and decked it out. But a the end of the day it was just too top heavy so sold it. Was thinking of the 300 Rally but they are hard to find in the US right now. Also my riding is more road with just a little offroad so I decided on the CB500X. Have done a few accessories including some Rally Raid stuff but will not do the Rally Raid suspension kit unless I find myself doing more offroad. I am going from a 15 tooth sprocket up front to a 16 tooth to lower the RPM's a bit for highway driving. the power is a bit low from what I am used to but I am not a fast rider even on the highway so it should work out. The US will be a challenge to stay off major freeways so I am excited to see you continue this trip and see your route through the US.
I would recomend some small uppdates for your bike. I would put in thicker inner tubes in The Tyres. So you wont get a flat tyre as easy. Second The rear Suspension. I wont get any higher IF you choose The right brand. You have one of The best Suspension brand in your own Country, The name is Reiger Suspension. They do on all Vehicle, but motorcycle is their main business. I belive they have your in stock. Hugh Different, comfort, safty etc.. They are at least as Good as Öhlins. So contact them. My daughter compete in motocross in high level, she ride their Suspension. For her better then The Öhlins we ride for many years.. Best regards from Sweden.
Well it was pretty obvious after the Instagram reveal 😛, great bike! but I can't wait to see you finish the adventure in the Americas! Good luck and have fun 😉
Congratulations on your NEW BIKE! Alaska is a perfect name, i'm looking forward to your next journey! Being in Canada , my machine is tucked away for the next 5 months of winter 😥He is a Honda also (Rebel 500) named Hondo, so I will be living vicariously through your videos until I can fire him up again in the spring! Safe travels!
Mine is locked away too...took her out for one final spin of the season...it was one degree when I set off but with wind chill it was more like minus 6 gave me crusty barnacles!
@@tapiwamandibaya3326 OOOH! I had no idea, thank you for sharing! I named him after John Wayne’s character Hondo in his movie, and then confirmed the name from Hondo in the TV series Swat.
@@plumduff3303 Haha, crusty barnacles 😂😂 It’s a sad day when you put your bike away for the season. This is my first year of riding, and i didn’t start until July. Short season this year but I did manage to put 1700 kms on my machine. I’m so looking forward to a full year next season! What do you ride?
Great bike, indeed! Powerful and light, good choice! Noraly, you certainly get tons of unwanted suggestions, so forgive me if I add a piece of advice, based on my experience. I have had a severe problem with the front suspensions of my Africa Twin; it's really easy to enter dust and sand inside and they suddenly start to loose fork oil that goes directly on your brakes; and of course it will happen in the worst place (at the end of the Patagonia, on a mountain road, in my case). So it's really important to cover that forks with some cross/rally "socks" (my Africa now wears the Fork Saver made by an Italian firm). Hope to be useful! Have a great and awesome trip!
Watched the first few seconds, you talking about how good Savannah was, and I think "Oh, she wouldn´t buy MY bike, would she? And you did!! I am very happy with my Rally and never had I more fun on a bike, I think it is perfect for you. Enough power, little weight, little fuel consumption, windshield and large tank. Honda quality might also help on a long trip. So next year, whenever I stop somewhere, I will hear: "Oh, is this the bike Itchy Boots rides?" It will be a good year with Season 6. All the best, Noraly!
Noraly-- I just got my fork seals done on my WR250F and I think it would be a good idea for both of us to use Velcro secured fork boots to keep the grit off the fork tubes. They can be removed and rinsed off and are inexpensive. Also, if you go through Utah you might try to get together with fellow RU-vidr Everide for a backcountry tour. I'm guessing he would be happy to collaborate.
I am truly surprised that you can't get a rear shock absorber to suit. So what about just installing a heavier spring for starters ? I am looking forward to following your continuing adventures, from an envious Australian (born in Holland !)
Agree. If it’s soft now, wait until she/you add luggage. I can’t believe you can’t modify suspension and maintain seat height. It might not sag as much under load, but seat height shouldn’t increase. Need a second opinion! Agree, even heavier springs would help.
Perfect bike for the Trans-America-Trail. It has a minimum of paved roads, best approached by bikes just like yours! It starts in Eastern Tennessee and finishes on the Oregon Coast. There is an open-source community that provides tips and help if needed along the way. You can camp, get back to pavement and stay in motels or B&B's. You can look up all kinds of info on it on You-Tube and the Internet.
So delighted to hear: "Welcome back to the Channel". YES!! Back to S.A. Wonderful news. A minor correction, because motorcycles have personalities as reflected in Basanti, Dhanno, Ronin and Savannah, they are a "stable" not a nautical fleet. For a name,.. I was thinking, heading north toward the Aurora Borealis.. name choice "Aurora" seems perfect. But Ms. Alaska is lovely.
I too prefer Aurora to Alaska. Because of Noraly's destination, we will hear the word Alaska often enough and having a bike by the same name will become repetitious and confusing at times.
I look forward to hearing more about your new adventures. Congratulations on your new bike. This is one of two bikes I am considering. I am curious about the need to buy a bike in Europe for a trip that starts and stops in the Americas. Would it not be less expensive to buy the bike in the U.S. or Canada than to pay for shipping from Europe?
It may be that an American version of the bike would be prohibitively expensive, or even impossible, to import to Holland because of awkward regulations. I think Noraly had a similar issue with an Indian version of her Royal Enfield being essentially incompatible with Dutch regulations.
I've been following you for 2 seasons. I really admire you for your natural way, your smile even in negative situations, your courage. Don't let a stone touch your feet. have a good journey
Welcome back Noraly! I'm so happy that you bought another Honda, a new one to boot! Super, super awesomeness! Cannot wait to see your adventures on Alaska and hope you may be through Colorado on your way north. I could take you through some amazing back-roads in the Rocky Mountains :-) :-) :-)
Great choice of bike 👍 Hyperpro are only an hours drive from Utrecht. They do shock absorbers with height adjustment. I managed to lower my 250 Rally seat by 5 cm by shaving the foam and some of the plastic feet from the base. Its just as comfortable as before. These two things make a huge difference and you will enjoy the bike even more on your next adventure . The suspesion work makes offroad riding so much more enjoyable and safer.
@@ItchyBoots yeah I am sure it will be fine for you until you get time to upgrade 👍 There is a very easy and cheap mod for your exhaust though ( i know you like a louder exhaust ) I will try and find the link.
Love the choice of bike. It was a no brainer for me from what I gathered. To ride in the US and Canada you will need to travel at highway speeds and this bike is good for that. Loved it. Cant wait to see more mods.
Hi Itchy Boots, hello from Boulder, CO! I just stumbled onto your channel and have to say it's great, and can't wait to watch your adventures from South America to Alaska trip. Cheers!!!
The InReach you would typically have on your person is helpful in the event you are separated from the bike. Nice setup - really liking what Honda is doing - great choice!
Great that you will be back on the road again continuing your journey in the Western Hemisphere. Really looking forward to seeing you in North America come next spring/summer. Regards from Canada.🇨🇦
Same to me. I came back to this first stage of Season 6. And after some months, thousand of km on dirt roads and mud trails, it's sure this bike was the right choice ! And... 3 000 000 views for this episode ! 👀🤙
Whoaaa, made my day with the good news. I am looking so forward to the new epsiodes, almost feel so excited as if I was about to go myself. Good choice of a bike which caught my eye a good while ago when I first saw it at a local dealer, looking at me with its frontlights through the shop window. My own current favorites are the Aprilia Tuareg which I can´t wait to testride and of course the Yamaha Ténéré 700, especially in the Rally version. But I can clearly see your point of ~ 50 kg less. Nicely chosen modifications also. It was fun to see i would have just decided the same way. Ride on & stay safe!
By the time you start the journey, you're gonna be in spitting distance of one million subs! All the best; I subbed up so I can follow this journey. You chose a great bike for this one.
