This is really the first ride in Ecuador of this new season and I am so happy to be back on the road. I decide to ride from Quito to Mindo Valley - a relatively short ride through the mountains, to get used to the new bike, the set up and the country. The scenery is so lush and green, it's incredible and Mindo is one of the cutest towns I've seen!

As a kid growing in Quito, I took my four wheeler down that same path to Mindo. I was 13 and having the time of my life away from parents and school. Now I live in Florida USA and I miss the mountains.......these images made me tear up a little bit.

I'm so glad you are finally in Ecuador. I spent almost a year there in the late 1980's working on a dairy improvement project that took me to the northern border with Colombia south to Riobamaba and Baños and loved almost every minute of it (did get caught in the middle of a couple of protests in Quito and was tear gassed!). Seeing it through your camera makes me homesick to get back there. I would love to tour it on a bike. Thank you!

I've been staying with my 85 year old mother who has been fighting cancer for 7 years and is slowly getting worse. I set aside this time to stay with her to keep her at home as long as possible and have no regrets in doing this for her. It is confining though and I"m used to being out so for me that part is difficult but small compared to what she's going through. All that to say that i happened upon your channel not long after you started your tour of southern Africa and followed it through the end of the rally and season 5. I am thrilled that you're back on the road again and really looking forward to your travels through the Americas. Looking at a long winter here in Ohio USA your video adventure is a very welcome get away to places I'll likely never see. Safe Travels! And have fun!

Next year marks my 45th anniversary of riding motorcycles. I've had some people early on say, "Do you have a death wish or something?" In reality, it's 180 degrees backwards. They don't understand the absolute joy of riding, like the joy you displayed in the mountains. The sun pops out, temperature is not hot, not cool, just perfect for riding. That's when the joy soars! Be safe out there.

Adorable how that woman was in awe of you getting Alaska out of that maze of a building, then to take your photograph. She was so sweet.... Then hitting the road - how beautiful there! If you have even an inkling of a fear of heights, you certainly don't show it! I suspect you do not? I sure as heck do, but have ignored it plenty, as needed, lol. My belly flipped when you were on the roof, looking over the protesting, etc, then on the edge of mtns.. Absolutely fantastic, beautiful ride GF! We can clearly hear the joy in your all as you adeptly flew up and down, on the fabulous dirt road in their mtns - what fun indeed! You look healthy and strong Noraly, you sound over-the-top thrilled, Alaska is doing an awesome job w/your expertise at command and man - I must repeat - it is SO good to be riding with you again! I adore doggies (live with my canine hoodlums3) but hey dogs out there - Don't you be biting our Itchy Boots!! No bite! The himalayan has more power. The rally 300 is really a 280cc or so.

@@MrBlaze256 : While the Himalayan does have a bigger engine, and slightly more torque, the Honda 300 rally is a lot lighter, and has more power because the engine has a higher red line and being liquid cooled, can have more torque per displacment than an air cooled engine.

Noraly, with respect, I feel compelled to mention that, just as 2% milk is not better quality than 0% (it just has more of a certain ingredient) a higher octane gas does NOT indicate better quality. It is a popular misconception regarding octane that ''higher = better.'' Everyone should use the octane level that their particular motor was engineered to use. Using too high of an octane can cause engine knock or worse! Keep up the inspiring journey. Happy trails!

There are 2 kinds of days in a week. There is Mon-Wed-Fri which are great because Noraly posts a video... and well there is the remaining part of the week during which we wait for the next day ;-)

I don't feel "tension" while motorcycling. I find it very relaxing. If you're tense, you're doing it wrong.

@@danmoyer4650 I think it is a translation issue, in several languages excitement can translate as tension.

On your way and you look beautiful. The sound of Alaska, is different than Savannah. Sounds like a low RPM torque motor. Good luck and good weather to you, looking forward to this adventure!

It's so neat to see Noraly's off-road riding skills improve with each season. Especially after the rally in SA! The CRF300 Rally is the perfect bike.

It’s going to be interesting to find out Noraly’s comparison between the high reving Honda vs the Royal Enfield, especially the reliability! I guess the Honda might have more problems
