Sim rigs are the way. Especially if you can only afford one or two track days a year, it makes a great supplement. I have about $500 into a Logitech G29 setup with a salvaged Jetta seat and homemade wood base for free.99

I'm happy you have a separate outlet for the videos of you "playing games." I understand the value for drivers I just have no desire to watch it. Just like I'm glad you have a toothbrush but don't want to see you brush your teeth. I love your creativity and dang near everything about your channel. This video is great because you explain what a Sim rig is, why it is desirable for drivers, how pro teams use them, and even how the entry level need not cost thousands of dollars. Ben's observation that used rigs are often sold is especially good. And Ben illustrating that upgrades are available and why you might want them is good, too!

Pay attention to the difference in controller lag between the two setups. Notice how much longer it takes the on-screen steering wheel to move vs the real wheel, other of these is much faster than the other and even that has some delay in it. Making sure that your controller lag is as minimal as possible definitely makes an insane difference in car control and just pure enjoyment of the directness of the steering feel.

Hey Ben you might want to upgrade your triple monitor setup. There is a noticeable visual latency from when you turn your simulator wheel, and the ingame wheel picture responds. It’s like your driving a less responsive softer setup with that delay. RTings had great monitor reviews for showing response time, and input lag. Both of which are really important for precise car control or fps games. You can notice on the 49in monitor which is a Qled I believe, those monitors have insane response time, and you can see how there’s virtually no delay between the real wheel and the in game wheel responding to input.

I'm surprised you guys didn't go with the virtual reality Sim racing rig. I've raced on some of those before and they take it to another level cuz everywhere you look in the car you're looking out the windows

These are nice setups. My buddy sold his Ducati and bought a full motion rig. Within a couple of laps in F1 I was sweating. Great fun. I want one so bad but I’d settle for a cheaper one lol.

If you're on the cheap, get a g25/g27, it's basically the best bang for your buck. you can get with some patience a g25 for 50-90€. You'll have decent force feedback, enough to begin at least, a shifter that does both sequential and h (you can also use the pallets behind the wheel), not 2 but 3 pedals, great materials on the steering wheel, etc. If you're handy you can also dive into the modification scene, there's a lot of mods documented, some parts you can buy, some CAD designs you can download, even some DIY stuff ! For example I improved the feel of the shifter with a small shim I made with some random plastic, stuffed it behind the spring pushing the bearing of the gear location thingy. Although be careful, some may overheat in very high temperatures, and some cooling mods were developped, also if you don't want to do any repair, be careful that Reverse works well, the switch hidden all the way inside has a connector that likes to pop out, but if you feel like it it's an easy enough fix.

Welcome to the good life! I have the fanatec DD Pro GT, and the G9. Best easy setup to date. Just be careful of the cables in the back of the DD pro getting pulled on.

Sweet setup! I use the Logitech G29 with gear shifter and the playseat challenge. Had to buy a 3d printed shifter attachment off of someone on Etsy but it works like a charm. I play on the ps4 so I’m overall in it for less than $1,000

I just bought a tr120 cockpit and have a fanatec podium F1 and v3 pedals on the way. This video was what pushed me over the edge.

I had a logic tech wheel and pedals set when gt 4 came out. It was awesome!!! Not nearly as good as the current setups, not was it internet based, but def helped with meat ing a track, line of sight, and body mechanics.

Hey Ben with the triple monitor rig setup, little note that it is best to put you graphics card / GPU at the top slot of the motherboard to ensure fastest bandwidth connection with the rest of the system. I saw your rig GPU was put on the bottom slot and that kinda infuriates me as a system builder, please do it at any available time that you've got...

I do really recommend looking into a VR headset. Especially the HP Reverb G2 for Sim stuff. Great experience

STRONGLY recommend the porsche 918 rsr - "Clubsport Steering Wheel Porsche 918 RSR". Got it on my DD1 and it's amazing 👌 Also if you haven't got it already grab the Clubsport Handbrake v1.5

VR headset next! Soo good for racing, nothing better then being able to turn your hear independently and look into the turns.

You can save a ton of money by building a rig and getting a seat from a junkyard! I only have a Logitech setup but the rig in total cost me around $200 for the materials and the seat! Mines only out of wood but if you can weld you can make something that’s super sturdy!

I would definitely recommend looking into incorporating a VR headset in the rig.

got mine Thrustmaster T248, wheel rack, PS5 for GT7, couldn't be happier, some ppl say the FFB isn't enough but i got some weird bumps grew on the side of both my thumbs, I had to turn the FFB down, I'm not sure how much force they want to take from the wheel lol

If your wheel has Alcantara, you really need to invest in some gloves! I can already see it's fraying from sweat and hand oils... So it may be too late for this rim. But something to consider for any new rims that may have it

your pcs exhaust fan is lighting up but not spinning id check that out for better temps

You should try a video on shifter karts! Yes I’m talking go karts! Just for fun and they fly! That would be a sick video and it’s good for beginners to start racing kids and even adults! I raced cars all my life and I got into a shifter kart and got hooked!!

2:45 classic T1 Akina moment sidenote seems everyone is buying fanatec. Its nice at first but when they do break and they will its a pain to work with customer service, especially for the older csw v2.5 wheelbase which is notorious for snapping the male connector pins. In combination with their shifter just misreading shifts like 1-2months into their usage.

Take it to the next level with VR, I couldn't go back to my ultrawide after I got my VR headset, It completely changed the game for me.

I ended up buying my own rig after I saw you post it on your insta story....I'd been wanting one for a while. I spent 8k, and that's not a flex lol. I also had to build a PC too though

csl dd with a DIY boost kit, a used cockpit and monitors/vr, and aliexpress/ebay shifter is the best value option to me. Used pc parts are suuuuper cheap now too.

Once you overcome a few days of vr sickness, it’s the best thing about sim racing. Ginger tea is your friend.

I'm also surprised that you didn't have a sim-rig all along. I know it is always better to race in real life. However, a sim-rig allows you to race all the time at any time. You also don't have to pay for tires and gasoline.

amstudio shows cheap steering wheel adapter etc to sim setups, and other cool stuff :)

I would recommend sticking with that odyssey g9 for a while before getting something like a qd oled monitor as that g9 is pretty damn good, but you could go to 4k and your graphics card should hold up if you run at 60ish fps. 120 or 144 would be ideal and going up to the 240hz that the odyssey does is just not worth the extra compute needed unless you have the extra hp to power such a display at the resolution and settings you run

Nice setups! You should give VR a shot. That was a big game changer for me, being able to look ahead to apexes. I know triple monitor and ultra wide setups help with that too, but there’s just something about VR that makes it hard for me to go back to monitors.

I live in Maui Hawaii and although we have a couple great driving roads unfortunately there’s no Circuit here. So I got the next best thing and invested in a ps5 and a budget sim rig. I still wish so badly we had a track here but I’ll take what I can get I guess🙃

Funny, I bought pretty much the exact same setup ealier this year, but I made sure to get both the H pattern gearbox, the handbrake, a round steering wheel and the F1 steering wheel. This way you can play pretty much every type of racing game. Rally, F1, GT, Drifting or just driving around in Forza Horizon. But.. when you are using an F1 style steering wheel, your steering lock should not exceed 360 degrees. Only half a rotation is acceptable with these. Which is another reason why the Tesla yolk is a garbage idea.

Ben if your having problems with screen resolution I’d try finding a 3070ti or a 3080 for your PC. Also ask what size power supply you have. I’d recommend 800w gold or above. From there you can turn your settings up for a clearer gaming experience

Hey ben, your cases exhaust fan isn't spinning! The fans in the top of the rig and on the front are purely there to bring air in, the one in the back is your exhaust. If it's not spinning all of that hot air is just sitting in your case.

have someone check your fan curves as well. I dont know the ambient temps you have in that room but in the vid, fans arent spinning. nice rig & kill em all in the racetracks

Nice rig Ben but just one thing you might want to fix is your fans in your pc they don't seem to be working while you were playing. Check out how to fix it for better cooling.
