@@incog0956 Not as easily as one with a removable battery. Because I don't care about having the latest technology and I don't like to buy phones frequently. I had a Huawei p8 lite for over 3 years.
@@incog0956 Because I want to be able to change it in case something happens to it and not have to pay service absurd amount? We do it differently on android side BUT for past years I do not remember a phone with removable battery, every phone is now a glass sandwich...
For 2013, this doesn't seem too bad! My main phone stopped working last year, couldn't repair it, and for a while I had to go back to using my Galaxy Ace, which I originally got as a hand-me-down from my cousin and used up until 2014. It was my first Android phone, so I had held onto it for some reason. I ended up installing a custom ROM released last year, still Gingerbread, but much more minimalist. I also dug up an old Winamp APK from APKmirror I think, so I could at least listen to music on it. I'm weirdly nostalgic for old Android versions. I also had a tablet from Big W my dad bought me that ran KitKat. God knows where that is now though. After going back to the Ace for a little while I got an Xperia Z1 Compact (released 2015), running Lineage Oreo. Actually pretty decent for a five year old phone, I was using it until I finally bought a new phone a few weeks back. It's incredible how some of these old phones hold up.
the best long lasting phone is iPhone 5s, it still got almost latest iOS version and works just fine, even faster and better than some old version of iOS and its 7 years old phone
I love this content! I love that you’re pretty much the only RU-vid doing this and going into depth on these super cheap devices. I get a kick out of some of the fakes and genuinely like learning things. You’re definitely good at it and I hope you keep making videos!
I don't think the detection is accurate. Android had several system partitions back in the day, and the tool simply can't see all of them. So it definitely has more flash storage than RAM.
This device reminds me alot of my mother's old Samsung Galaxy Discover she had back around 2012. This looks quite similar to it except larger. Also had some fairly similar specs: 800Mhz Snapdragon S1, Same GPU, 512MB RAM, 4GB Storage, Stock Android 4.0.4 (and yes, it was a samsung device without the touchwiz UI, since it was apparently too demanding for the phone) and a 3.5 Inch 480x320 display. To be honest, a device with these kinds of specs (which represented the ultra budget sector, would estimate it was purchased between $100-$150 CAD) It wasn't all that usable back in 2013. The bare OS was fine to use but loading any sort of app on it would be a nightmare. The RU-vid app (back when I used in in 2013) constantly crashed and with her facebook and crap running in the background navigating the UI was painful. In 2014 it was replaced with a Galaxy S3 that my mother used all the way until June 2019.
Sometimes I do get phones for free, mostly because they are faulty etc. Some bulk lots of phones etc that I buy basically comes with free stuff anyways so it can be good at times!
Dude, keep doing what you're doing! You deserve 100x the subs you have. Not that you need more subs to be happy/successful, but you just put a lot of time into making great content, and I want more people to see it. Keep it up!
It is a Moto E with 4gb of Memory. It is about 7 years old. But it still works as a MP3 player with a radio. I recently switched to LG Rebel 2 for my primary MP3 player with a FM radio.
@@SianaGearz I have since upgraded to a Moto g7power 2019. I also have a LG journey that I use as my MP3/media player so I don't drain the battery on my real phone. Both have built in radios.
That website language was Brazilian Portuguese, here in brazil, the "Philco" company is very famous here, but I never heard of an phone that they made. Sorry for my english bro
I had so much fun of you trying to figure what was going with the Brazilian website. You are the first person that didn't confuse Portuguese with Russian that I know 😄
Apparently Mobotop was an "international top up solution that enables you to surprise your loved ones by sending them mobile credit anywhere, anytime!" But looks like it doesn't exist as the domain name is for sale
"It's not that big at all, that's what she said" -SMOOREZ Edit: Subbed because of the outro 👍 Edit2: Full specs of the SoC is found here: www.qualcomm.com/media/documents/files/snapdragon-s3-s2-s1-processor-product-specs.pdf
Instead of ordering two burgers you could buy only one and this phone. I don't care of how much of a potato it is, neither how you can't find proof of its existence--there is literally nothing to complain about if it makes and accepts calls!
You are a wonderful addition to any youtube subscription list. Thanks for pulling through and staying on youtube and true to what you wanna do. It's a gift to listen to you going on and on about stuff you (and we) are passionate about. Even though this is years after you publish the video, I hope some day this comment finds you somehow. Thanks!!
Micromax actually rebranded the phone and sold it as Bolt a58 or something like that and sold it in India for 3k rs or 45 USD approx. I owned this phone and it was a struggle just to install a couple of apps since the ROM was that small. Even having an SD card didn't solve the problem since some amount of storage was still required for an app to occupy in the internal storage. So, I had to root it and then install link2sd. I bricked the phone a couple of times trying to install a custom ROM. It functioned quite good apart from some minor issues. For the price, it was a pretty good device especially for a student like me. Quick update on Micromax, they had to close their services as they couldn't really deliver on their promises and companies like Xiaomi completely obliterated them.
I lost it at 'never disassemble the device by yourself' :3 This looks like one of the many Xiaomi Redmi 1 clones. It's from the good old days of Chinese manufacturers getting at the android version numbers and putting fake information there, and other manufacturers releasing 1-off Android devices that are then never updated (Looking at you, Acer!). Looks like you got a genuine 4.0.4 device tho, but having no manufacturer means you're unlikely to be able to extend life via a custom ROM. This sort of thing is indeed worth 2 bucks, considering that it looks like a GSM/3G device and it really depends if your region still has a 2G network.
That's pretty impresive for $2. I mean, you get a device that can make calls, browse the internet, youtube, listen to music, GPS, take photos. Too bad you didn't run any 2D retro emulators; I suppose it would have been handle NES, Sega Genesis and game boy color nice enogh (not sure abou SNES and GBA)
I got to tell you about two weeks ago I almost bought one of those no-name phones ...in fact I did buy it I didn't know what I had until I saw your video and found out it was a no-name phone and I sent it back before I even got it and I paid $95 for it ..I got it off of eBay.. I was so glad I saw your video that morning
I use to get awful panic attacks but I took up music and making hip hop , and it stopped them dead , just wanted to say love your channel find it fascinating.. respect from England
If anyone is interested what phone it is: PHILCO PHONE 350 (probably also sold under LEPHONE and other brands) There is *SOME* information available. All of it is on Brazilian websites - maybe someone with more linguistic skills than me can get some more info? Namely: Manual - fccid.io/ANATEL/01968-13-09207/Manual-Philco-Phone-350/012BF32F-0765-44FE-843F-31988DDF0318/PDF Shop listing - www.saldaodainformatica.com.br/smartphone/smartphone-philco-phone-350-preto-dual-chip-gps-tela-de-35-3mp-android-40
This looks like a ZTE Blade C, mix and match of several of the variants of that, but also neither exactly. But it's also seemingly not made by ZTE, because they don't extend the PCB under the battery. It looks like the PCB is structural here like in some Motorolas, and i've never seen ZTE do that. By structural i mean, the tensile strength of PCB, being anchored north and south into the chassis along the whole length, actually provides structural integrity to the phone. Sweet ancient device anyway! And so mysterious. Can't find any evidence of a phone OEM named "EMS".
Enjoying your videos mate keep it up and keep your chin up and live the dream of being a RU-vid superstar. It's funny when you do videos it's like animated hands are like finger puppets! I reckon you do a finger puppet episode that would have me in stitches!!! Enjoy!
don't give up :) and just an ideal, how about vids on tours at your local flea market? theres always interesting stuffs thats on resale and likely viewers like to see but not buy it.
I've tried many ways of doing like a VLOG style thing of my flea market. Problem is, I can't do it in a way that doesn't seem obvious. And if you walk around with a camera or they know you are recording, people tend to get a bit iffy (of course). I've tried those Spy Glasses (which were SHIT) and several other little ones and nothing that I've liked and happy with. But it has crossed my mind several times!
Just a shout out from Germany: I really like what you do tech related and that your videos are pretty long. I love obscure old and new tech original and counterfeit also. Keep it up 👍
Don't worry you are doing great. Your Channel is a bit different from the others and you are doing it your way and its entertaining and intressting. In 2013 I used a ZTE skate 4.3. Had a 800mhz single core 250mb internal storage left and 500mb RAM, 5 Megapixel Autofokus Camera on the rear and no Frontcamera. It was running Android 2.3 so it was very usable back in the day. The 4.3 inch screen was HUGE for that time. Considering the Samsung Galaxy Note 1 was the biggest phone back than with its 5 inch screen. When I saw people using the Samsung Note 1 it was like they were holding a public Phonebox in their hands :D And nowadays you barely get a Phone under 6 inch screen. But due to its bad built quality that ZTE died from a digitizer fail because the glass didn't stick to the shell properly anymore and it lost contact to the digitizer. This Phone reminds me of the good old days, I still got a Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S laying around. You should probably try to get your hands on one of these because its still astonishingly good for nowadays phones. Especially the camera. Greetings from Austria, the country that is always getting mistaken for Australia :D
I've been playing it on the Switch, doing a case per day. Such good memories, even though the game is flawed, it's still a great one to pick up and play and try to figure out who is telling the truth etc :)
@@SMOOREZ Yes, it's a really fun game and very different to all the first person shooters and battle royale games that usually get all the attention. The Switch port isn't the greatest in terms of performance, but the game is still decent. Too bad there were so many issues during development, the game could have been so much more :-)
Just having a portable version of it is great for me. And yeah watching all the videos of cut content etc, it could have been absolutely epic. It still is but as I said, it suffers with it's flaws. *sad cole face*
You're doing great 👍 wish you all the best, now and in the future. Today is the first time I've seen some of your videos, but definitely not the last, I've hit that subscribe button 👉✔️ Greetings from the other side of the world (Denmark)😊
just subscribed after that outro :) i also have some mental health issues but im better (way better) now than i was even 4 years ago. your content is interesting :)
17:12 I didn't know people bought Plasma TVs anymore. Maybe they're only popular in Brazil? The text in the page heading basically translates to "What is the difference between Plasma, LCD and LED TVs? Which is more modern?" Also, 'comvoce' is probably just 'com você' which means 'with you'
Eastern Europe bro, right ? I had a huawei phone, when they start making phones. Cca 2007. It had a 3" touchscreen display made of plastic. As far as i remember. A very simple software. Had some icons. It wasn't android. Gave it to my uncle for few euros. And look at them now..
I remember this exact (or a really close lookalike) phone being sold under many different brands here in Czechia. It was totally one of these 3: Prestigio, GoClever or iGet. And also maybe Acer, when they used to sell phones.
As southamerican, I quickly recognized this is one of the "unnamed" phones sold by big electrodomestic brands in their stores. Usually there is a need for low budget phones and this companies (like philco, tcl, philips) just imported (or ensamblated locally) cheap chinese unnamed phones to cell in the big electrodomestic stores. The good thing was they mostly were stock android and without a carrier/mobile plan, and also, they were cheap and accesible through 6/12 monthly payments. Most users ended up being small childs or grandparents as their first phone
the chin on the phone reminds me of the chins on the old htc phones (not the ones that look decent, the ones that look like crap) and the back reminds me of my old "Telstra Tempo" (just a rebranded ZTE that was very bad)
The fact that this ultra generic phone was only one major Android version behind the 2013 current when it came out is the greatest miracle of all. I was fully expecting it to be Gingerbread.
From the specs it should have a Snapdragon S1 MSM7225A, since it only has an Adreno 200, not a 200 Enhanced. S1 MSM7627A would have a 200 Enhanced, but it doesn't really say anywhere. Edit: Or wait... It has the right frequency to be the Enhanced one. It might actually be an S1 MSM7627A, which would be even cooler. Edit: Uh... It has a MSM7227A inside? Wow. That's confusing. 😂 And yeah, it has the Adreno 200 Enhanced. Quite a pleasant surprise. Pretty rare to find a device like that. I don't think i've ever seen a no-brand Snapdragon phone, ever. That's, imo, quite amazing. Edit: I did some digging and found a few other EMS models: EL020 UF2021, UN020. UN020 even has Android 4.4.2, surprisingly, and has MT6572. I dunno why it's so fasicnating to me to look at those obscure devices.
The CPU once I ripped the shielding off shows it's an MSM7227A @ 25:34 Which confirms it. I was also very surprised because when I seen the Mediatek reading in Antutu, I just based it off that for the rest of the video. It wasn't till editing that I noticed the readings and dug deeper!
@@SMOOREZ Yeah, i should have commented after watching the whole video, not throughout it. Anyway, really cool video. Also the EMS UN020 has some "Be" branding under the battery. Look it up on Google Images. It also looks like that phone actually received some updates from Android 4.2 to 4.4. I can't find anything more than that. Would be pretty cool if you could to find one of those to review. 😂😂
Looks pretty much exactly like my first smart phone that I bought from tracfone. What I had was something from their ZTE or LTE line made by LG I think.
But in 2013, getting this would've been alright for everyday usage. Nowadays, not so much. Considering the SoC in it, it wasn't a terrible device - some of the clones I have looked at from Wish put this device higher above them!
Doing a bit of internetting I found PHILCO PHONE 350 (maybe a flashed OS from it - so explains the homepage?) Can't find the phone though... (too many phones called A1) 😯
It looks very similar to a Samsung Galaxy Player which was simply a minimal Android cell phone without the cell phone parts so it would function mostly as a media player and not much else.
A dirty kernel is one that includes some closed source proprietory binary blobs - closed source kernel modules, probably the Qualcomm dual SIM device drivers.
That thing is not dodgy at all. No scams at all. Would have been a totally fine device back in the day. Had a huawei y320, it's totally similar to that
if i'm not wrong these phones were popular around 2014 in my area, some people had a phone like that edit: no, it had same design but 4.4 and more storage probably
It looks a lot like the Vodafone smart series phones, which back in the day costed around 20€ to most 60€ and where almost functional in terms of speed. Those type of series where basically Alcatel rebranded by Vodafone
This phone reminds me of my HTC a310e Was shipped with gingerbread I rooted and flashed jellybean on it and it worked like a charm till the end of 2017 and then the touchpad died
Back then cheap mobile phones were garbage and flagships were a decent deal for the price, nowadays the cheap mobile phones are a decent deal for the price and flagships are too expensive and have a ton of useless crap tacked onto it like a flexible display to hike the price up.
The phone's brand is called "lephone" and the name of this phone is Philco Phone 350 by the info the imei gave. The motherboard is basically just from a philco 350 probably
Review the zte whirl 2. I had one as my first phone. It was literal rubbish. Couldn't even take video, let alone watch RU-vid. an all around laggy mess. And my one came with pre-installed malware. Seriously.
