okay so hope i don't sound like a creep lol but i googled Sadie and found her on the 1940 census!! at the time she was 64 and single and also in the same residence was an Esther, 52 and divorced and 2 younger males 18 &20- i assume Esther's sons(same surname) i just find this stuff so fascinating!!
She probably received edelweiss flowers as they're popular in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland and they signify deep love and devotion. I also love how some of these post cards are from people who lived in Wisconsin. :)
Sending someone the flower of Edelweiss means they hold you in the highest esteem - Edelweiss only grows in high altitudes in the Alps. "So if you really love me, darling, bring me Edelweiss" .
i would buy diaries and letters just to lock them in a box and protect them. i guess it’s fair game since it’s on Ebay but if someone read my journals and mail... i’d be glad i was already dead.
adore this & especially the diaries - i like your narrative style a lot, would like even more detail in the diaries and if you had a pattern/ko-fi i’d definitely donate to get longer vids & more expensive diaries
A foreigner who hasn't seen the sound of music? What a blessing, an Austrian this is music to my ears xD And those postcards are super cool. Sadly though I don't really have friends who care much for writing postcards
I like to buy old post cards , and letters where there's an address written on them then I enjoy looking the address up ! some times the buildings or houses are still there other times you can see that the houses have been torn down :( !
I have collected postcards since receiving my first one when I was 10. People know I collect them so they send me postcards when they go on trips. I have quite a collection. I don't collect other people's postcards, tho....I just collect ones sent to me.
Edelweiss is a flower that can only be found in the Alpine region on high mountains. It serves as a symbol of love and bravery.through the Nazis and mountain troops in the Wehrmacht, the flower initially had its military conotation. Opponents of the Nazis (youth resistance groups) later took advantage of this symbol And called themselves Edelweis pirates
This series makes me want to write a diary. But then it would probably be full of bullshit just in case someone reads it. Things always go messy in soap operas when someone learns shit from someone's diary.
