For your gas mileage try cleaning your throttle body with a clean rag. Don't spray into the opening or your butterfly just on rag and wipe off everything as far in as possible including both sides of the butterfly. You will see the carbon on the rag. Then have a shop reset you idle speed which should drop back. This can increase mileage in some cases as much as 2mpg.

I just got a used 2018 extended cab 5.0 4x4. I love it, been wanting a 4x4 for a while now. I drove a used 2007 f150 single cab for almost 10+ years and it's still kickin at 120k miles, I got it in 2012. Gonna let the 07 rest a bit and play around with the 2018. Good review, congrats and nice buy! I do enjoy the tailgate assistance, I usually just jump on, but as I'm getting a little older the assistance will come in handy.

From Canada here. Thanks for the review and walk around. Bought mine new, FX4, 2.7L 3:73 gear set. Super low miles, retired and dont need to pull stumps or haul stuff around. I have the auto start/stop defeat button on the center stack, top right. Came that way no need to refer to the manual. My 4th and probably last truck. A 47 68, 77, and this 2018 all Fords. Love it, keepin it .. at least thats what my wife tells me!😂

Mine has the stop/start disable on the dash, but I didn't like having to remember to push it every time I started the truck. I was able to program it with FORSCAN to permanently disable it, along with some other functions - fogs stay on with brights, adjust speedometer for larger tires, etc. I'm nearing 100k miles on mine now, and still love it! my truck is a 2001 with 300,000 miles. Fantastic truck but I too need a new truck. Was thinking of getting a 2020 with this look. in 2020 a BRAND NEW truck was roughly worth $37,000. NOW in 2022 a 2020 model is worth about $38,000. Go figure. Crazy times.

lol... dude, be honest. Your gas mileage is directly connected to your admitted lead foot. If you stomp that pedal, it will burn conSIDERably more fuel than if you slowly accelerate. Like, it's not a trivial difference. It's a huge difference. If you want to get good gas mileage, you're never gonna be revving it up. 16mpg is atrocious. Sounds like you accelerate and drive pretty damn fast. That said, you still enjoying it?
@TheGoodeLifeOutdoors
@TheGoodeLifeOutdoors 23 дня назад
Absolutely! Lead-foot-itis is definitely the culprit. I'm still loving this truck. I've added larger tires and a bit of lift, and I'm getting better mileage now than when I first got it. Hi, it's been two years, what's going on, do you still have it? I hear the 2018 2.7 V6 will only last 200 to 250 k miles. What are you thoughts about that? Thx.
@TheGoodeLifeOutdoors
@TheGoodeLifeOutdoors 10 месяцев назад
Yes, I still have the truck and still love it! I have just over 100k miles now, and it's doing great. I did have to have the cam phasers replaced, not long after I posted this video, but that was taken care of under warranty, though it's a $3k repair otherwise. I have the 3.5 V6, so I can't speak to the 2.7, but I know they're similar. The advice I've been following for longevity is to simply change the oil more often. I've always run synthetic oil, and did my oil changes between 8-10K miles on previous vehicles. With this truck, I'm doing oil changes every 3-4k miles. So far, so good, but I'm a ways out from 200k miles. I'm planning to keep this truck as long as I can, so fingers crossed that it holds up well over time. I hope that helps.

I've got a bit over 105k miles on it now, and it's done really well. Not long after I posted this video, at about 61k miles, I had issues with the cam phasers, which Ford covered under a recall, so I would check on whether that's been done on the one you're looking at. It's a pricey fix (~$3000) and affected many of the 3.5 Ecoboosts of this era. I pull a boat and camper with mine pretty regularly, and have no qualms taking it on long trips. I hope to keep it for at least another 100k miles. Best of luck in your search!

I'm Confused about gas ⛽️ mileage. Ford with 3.5 litter is supposed to get good good gas mileage. Making 500 miles with 36 gallons,It's not a very good number. I make that many miles with 26 gallons in a GMC Sierra 1500 with fuel ⛽️ management. 2015. I am a little nervous buying a Ford with that gas mileage. Thanks for your Video 📹.
@TheGoodeLifeOutdoors
@TheGoodeLifeOutdoors Год назад
Every truck is different, and the manufacturer's claims on mileage are typically pretty far off. My last truck's mileage went down over time, so combined with a much smaller tank, I wasn't getting far between fill-ups. With this truck, it's actually improved some over the 2 years I've owned it. This is surprising, because I have since added larger tires, lifted it some, and carry tools and such that add weight. Combined city and highway driving, I'm seeing between 16-17 mpg over a tank, which translates to almost 600 miles on a tank. On long highway trips, I'm seeing 18-19 mpg, so that translates to well over 600 miles on tank, sometimes closer to 700. I credit my increase in mileage over time to my regular maintenance, and I had to replace the cam phasers and ignition coils (luckily the phasers were under warranty). Other than these issues, I'm happy with the engine, and I believe a well-maintained 3.5 engine on a stock truck should put out much better mileage numbers than I'm seeing. I hope that helps.

Look what young people have done to the automobile industry! There will never be another reasonably priced vehicle sold in this country. The cars and trucks that are being built are lower and lower quality and much of this is because of all this ridiculous technology that was never asked for and was never necessary. Back around 2000 I bought a 1989 Chevy Blazer. It was the best car ever owned, I kick myself every day for selling it. It did not have all of your fancy gizmos but it ran just fine! It would have kept on running for at least 300,000 miles I'm certain. God I wish I had never sold it.

Over 3 years later and now over 100k miles - if I'm still in honeymoon phase, I'm happy. Yes, turbos wear out, as do most mechanical systems. My plan is to keep this thing maintained as well as I can and hope for that to happen more later than sooner. Thanks for taking the time to comment!

That was my thinking when I bought it. Unfortunately, at 61k miles, the cam phasers needed to be replaced, and "almost" cost me $3k. I was able to sort it out with Ford, but it made me second guess Ford quality in its newer products. I'd probably buy another F150 if I had to, but I'll go in with more realistic expectations.

@@Voncroix The truck has been solid otherwise. I have around 77k miles on it now. If you're looking at the 3.5 ecoboost, I would check if the phasers have been serviced or replaced. I was unlucky with mine, but it is a fairly common complaint with these. Listen for a 3-5 second rattle at cold start-up - that's typically the phasers and it's not a great sign.
