I had a 2008 N400 in the same colour. Loved it. Never went out without someone complimenting it. Had it for around 5 years and never had an issue. Swapped it for a Porsche Targa and nobody ever commented on it. Everyone loves an Aston. 😀😀
The snarl that 4.3l V8 makes at full chat is one of the most underrated exhaust tones. I know it’s not the most powerful engine, but it’s fast enough to seriously endanger one’s license and you can enjoy it. I don’t know about others, but I know it would be a cold day in Hell before I got bored of listening to that engine.
There's also the pull factor to consider. Use one hand to count the number of babes who wouldn't like to take a ride in your Aston Martin convertible. Seriously.
That V8 bark never gets old. To me it is the sound of WEC during one of its peak years with 488 GTE, V8 Vantage GTE, Corvette C7.R and 991 RSR ruling the GTE class.
Thank you for giving me another decision to make , you convinced me 3 years ago to buy an Audi rs4 b8 avant ,I absolutely love it but I’m now scanning the classifieds for one of these, you’re a bad man 😂thank you for all of your continued content 👍
I had the V8 vantage 4.3 in 2010 and I utterly loved it. It was beautiful. I’m not rich but I’ve owned some stunning cars. The Aston was the one I NEEDED back in my life. So last year I bought the Vantage S and fell in love all over again. Both cars have been super reliable. The trick is to buy one that has been properly serviced and not had work deferred. Too many people finance the car and then cut servicing costs by not getting power steering fluid, gearbox fluid changed, coolant flushed etc. they don’t have pressure hoses checked and replaced and then break down and blame the car. It’s just constant oil changes for a cheap stamp and then on to the next owner to do again. If you’re buying an Aston, don’t just count the service stamps. Ask for receipts and see what has and what HAS’NT been done. Enjoy the car. I’ll hopefully be doing a euro trip soon in mine. 😊
Looks, and sounds, awesome! Hope it gives you lots and lots of pleasure, James!!!! Ps- last week, you recommended an Audi R8- news update! I did... and drove one- a V10- whilst a competent car, the interior didn't do it for me- and, having seen one of your earlier Ferrari videos, I'm going to go for a Callifornia- and not the T- so, I'm scared, and excited at the prospect!!! I'll let you know when I get one!! Many many thanks for the messages, and enjoy that Aston! Ohh and THAT Austrian holiday! X
I’m lucky enough to live in Carinthia , southern Austria , Italy,Slovenia and Croatia are all within easy driving distance and the roads are pure bliss ,though I do most on motorcycles , it’s driving & riding heaven , have a great trip , get up the Grossglockner high alpine road if you get a chance , although there are numerous others, Enjoy !
Noticed the green euro emissions sticker on the windscreen - no unnecessary fines for you 👍 Hope you got your motorway sticker for the autobahn in Austria (I didn't and got fined 😂)
Good for you. What a great car! I highly suggest swapping that shift knob with the v12 aluminum. The weight totally changes the shift experience for the better!!!!
So funny, I watched your early video of the 4.3 and 3 years later I took the plunge on Friday. Love mine, 4.3 manual roadster in silver grey. Enjoying it a lot…
I really love the DBS loooks. Way better than the Vantage to me. But the Manual V12 Vantage Roadster really speaks to me for some reason. There is one on AutoTrader rn for £100K.
There should be Don Henley’s „Boys of summer” in the background. James it is not a big problem because you are already talking about selling both of them. Building the collection is a problem but this seems like some sort of the summer affair.
Lovely looking in that colour but it’s the first Aston V8 whose exhaust sound I dislike. Sounds like there’s some nails rattling around the sports cat that drowns the music from the engine. Enjoy your holiday.
He hinted at this in the lusso V8 video previously... I remember him saying something around this doesn't handle as well as my vantage, I was very confused until now
Congrats! Do you experience heel/toe issues? I have a V8V manual LHD (US) and the transmission tunnel gets in the way of my typical way of heel toe-ing. I figured the RHD cars wouldn't experience this.
George Monbiot was banging on in the Guardian today about the motor boats of what he called the extremely rich, (by which he presumably meant anyone talented enough to earn more than him), calling them wankpanzers, heaven knows what he would call your cars or make of you! Actually it made we want to go out and buy one together with a Ferrari for the marina car park!
It's a pretty cat, but... Just one problem was my V8, and losing ability to repair the windshield wipers as they just "shut off." Which meant that you had to take off the intake plenum, the other tubes, to get to the wipers. That isa four-thousand dollar job, for a car that only had 24,000 miles on her. I hadn't spent that much for my XJ8L V8 for 27000 miles, with a plastic reservoir for $650, and one wiper for another $200. That is it. Far easier to repair and replace.
Oh dear.....I have a Ferrari 550 ( '97 version ) and.....a '98 DB7 i6...... I wish i just had the Ferrari .......but the old Astons have charm and if well sorted are very useable and beautiful......but as investments?
Incorrigible but understandable Sir, given their value for money and our inability to stick with any one car or indeed make. The only risk with chop and change is never quite bonding with 'the one', the keeper. And there is no therapy that seems to work.
