For the tools, why not see if there are any local schools that could use them? Or even if there are kids who are in wood shop classes to get them started, they might want them. Great video!

Yeah and even if its broken, handy guy can easily fix some issues like damaged frame. Hell even if some of the tools are not same as mine, that is not a issue long as voltage is the same. You can get cheap tool, get couple dollar adapter or even make it your self and use your battery brand of choice for those tools. None of it is waste really just lack of ingenuity and effort. Still i prefer corded tools when working with ones that are least used like garden and yard stuff. Corded almost never dies from lack of use, while batteries will die from it and always degrade over time.

I work at Lowe’s so we get some real doozies of returns. A lot of the cashiers are not taught to check product (I assume to avoid confrontation with aggressive customers). Once we got a 5 gallon bucket of paint, that was actually just water, tools kits returned with no batteries or chargers and a whole lot of buy one get one, where the buy one was returned. One time after a pretty bad rain we sold like 25 shop vacs and got like 10 returned I assumed after being used thoroughly.

I work at home Depot and usually I'll check after the customer leaves and make sure to send it to the back so it doesn't get sold. A lot of customers either lie, become aggressive or ask for the manger and usually the manger will just say to do the return.

@@kampfgeist7703 It's not like that at Lowe's, "in my experience anyway." My daughter bought me a big Craftsman shop vac for Father's day & I didn't even take it out of the box until around a month later. I vacuumed my car's out & noticed it was smelling funny but just thought it was probably just packing oil or something like that. So the second time I used it "probably around another month" the motor started smoking and it died. So I carried it back to Lowe's not wanting to return it for money, I just wanted to exchange it for another vacuum. I explained everything to the sales clerk and she said it's been longer than 30 days so I would have to call Craftsman. The next day I called & they just transferred me from department to department. After about 30 minutes of that I got frustrated & decided to call back the next day just to get the exact same run around. I tried several times but got nowhere with Craftsman. So for me never again will I ever buy or recommend Craftsman or Lowes to anyone.

So just curious, to those of you who work at a hardware store: Have you read the terms of the return policy? And if you did inspect an item that was heavily used or incomplete is that grounds to refuse a return? And lastly, if the corporation doesn’t care… Why do you?

The guy who invented the Black and Decker Workmate lived local to me and he was a very rich man. He negotiated a small royalty for each Workmate sold and they sold a lot. Also in the ‘80s DeWalt bought Swiss power tool company Elu. Their colour was charcoal grey with orange highlights like switches, these also became B&D professional, colour, all black and DeWalt. I still have a 20 year old 1/2 inch DeWalt router that is an Elu, still working great.

Imagine a cave table filled with blue epoxy to look like water and a light fitted underneath it so it looks like an underwater cave? 🤯 You could even add little details to like seaweed or algae it would literally be the most epic thing ever. You are the one who could pull this off John I believe in you sir. I really love the channel by the way you guys bring personality to the videos and make them fun which is so awesome as opposed to hearing someone talking over a time lapse which can be boring at times.

A 12 year old Weber? That means the top handle has long since burned off, and the remaining metal hoop busted/rusted off too, as well as both side handles. Ash receptacle? Wheels? A distant memory. Gutsy return. Shameless. Nice touch with the hot dogs, though.

I don't understand why people hate on Ryobi so much. My stepdad still has the cordless Ryobi tools from when they came out in the 90's, they still work and they have taken a beating. He used to be a carpenter. I have several Ryobi tools. My drill has been dropped from 8ft+ several times. I drop f bombs like crazy when it happens but the drill still works like brand new. My wife and I have a house that was built in 1881 and it constantly needs work. Ryobi is my go to because of it's affordable price and Ryobi is extremely reliable.

The boxes filled with mutiple of the same labeled not in system, are frim what the industry calls, "a reset". That's when they go through an aisle or two or even an entire store , move everything around, and pull the items which are no longer stocked. It could be different packaging, or just a complete deletion of the item from the stores selection. Also, manufacturers pay for better shelf space, so depending on new contracts stuff will move because of that. In supermarkets they'll move stuff an aisle or two so you need to search, therefore making you look at more product, and seeing more things you, "need".

I work for a big box home improvement store so I watch for the tool deals. Corporate does some wild stuff with pricing, they'll clearance a bunch of stuff down to ridiculous prices for like a day then shoot them back up to regular price. I grab em when they're low and resell them. I got 6 Dewalt hammer drill impact driver sets with a regular and max battery just like the one you got for $79 each. I resold all but one for $150 each, all went in 2 days. Chaching!

I got the deep cut cordless Dewalt bandsaw once for free. They had a deal where you bought a two pack of batteries. Pick your free tool. Had that at the bottom of the list online. They had the band saw in a clearance isle in the store. The worker who showed me where it was didn't even think the deal would work. I should have bought both of them.

Dewalt is owned by Stanley Black and Decker. Ryobi is usually great for the price point. They're owned by TTI, who owns Millwaukee. TTI also manufactures Rigid. There’s a ton of rebranding type stuff and tech sharing going on with those brands and you can totally get a great tool for cheap.

No tradesmen uses ryobi . They’re underpowered and garbage ,sure they’re made in the same factory as Milwaukee . But they have rhinos in the same zoo as flamingos . So what’s your point ? Consider different outreach or service groups to donate the tools to. Groups that help rebuild after natural disasters (think small organizations that don’t have a lot of press coverage). One group we have given tool sets to before is a church in Gallaway, Tennessee. Their outreach to the community is to host a “Christmas store” where people of all ages can come in and “buy*” items for their families. (*no actual money is exchanged, this is the church trying to help people lift themselves from poverty.) It’s amazing to see how these opportunities can bring joy in difficult situations. The feedback we have been given from the donated tool sets has always been encouraging. Just an idea.

On another note, I wonder if some of these unopened/unused returns might be due to HD sending unsold clearance items off to liquidators, rather than just being all actual customer returns.

that one that said "not found in system" is actually really common all over retail, companies receive product from the same companies and errors happen resulting in say Lowes receiving some Home Depot products. So it doesn't pop up when they scan it and it ends up being sent back with returns often.

The 40 piece sets say 'not found in system' in marker on the box. Having worked on retail, probably means it was a promo sku for a holiday sale, then after the sale, even if they carry essentially the same set, they can't sell, as the promo sku got deleted from the system. So they probably just lumped it in with the returns

Hey John, just wanted to give you a heads up that the link to share the giveaway leads to the one that ended back in July.

I like that idea of a pull out drawer system in that dewalt tough packout, wish more companys would make a similar one (would like one for my Bauer Packout)

Milwaukee technically does, but theirs doesn't have the water resistance levels DeWalt's do.

I have the xr 20v max impact driver from the combo kit from my momma she bought it for the drill because it was cheaper with the charger and battery so she didn't need the impact driver so she gave me that one works great..

Whoever does the audio sets the music volume at an ideal level relative to the vocals. Also the memes NEVER miss.

I had the B&D blower/vacuum only thing I didn't like was that I had to use a few power cords to reach certain parts of my yard....

the small hole in the chainsaw bar is for grease to be put in the bar tip bearing not where oil comes out. if oil is coming out the oil feed is to high.

You could donate that to my construction class. I just took over the program as the school was ready to close it down and am trying to rebuild the program. We need all the help we can get.

ive made the comment in the past and ill do it again, my son is starting automotive mechanic school and the impacts would be a good thing for him to have with his tool kit that i purchased for him. So see if local schools or trade school could use the tools for classroom of some sort.

Still little profit margin left, no one in their right mind should pay full retail if you choose to sell it. But love to see stuff like this with the honesty of not getting even in the past pallets.

Wow, what a haul! Even if it were all Ryobi that would have been good.

This looks like all seasonal promo items which at the time were sold at a discount, after the promo is over they go back to "retail" price which is why there are odd prices when you look them up. You can start your own swap meet with this junk. On a side note, the first power took I bought brand new was a Ryobi drill about 12 years ago and it still works fine with the original 2 batteries, I have since replaced Dewalt, Ridgid branded batteries, and tools that were only a couple years old. As a former big box DIY associate I'd say we'd throw away pallets like this almost daily and it was included in daily budgets.
