Check out this special video in which I open a pack of cards from every year from 1980-2020! I picked up this lot off of eBay! See if we pulled any of the good rookies through the years and take a look at how the designs of the wrappers and cards evolved throughout!

There is a seller on Ebay offering this up. It only went to 2019 though. Maybe Jabs threw in the 2020 pack. I bought it myself for $170. The early wax was all very suspect. 81 or 82 pack had the gum glued. Also had 2 packs bricked so bad I threw them away. Didn't get my money back but had enough fun I've considered buying another.

When I was a kid I had about 50 Rickey Henderson rookie cards. Sadly, they "disappeared" when I joined the military. When I pulled those cards he was just a "speedster" starting out so I thought nothing except, "Dang, why do I have 50 of this guy?" Back then I sorted my loose cards by year, then team. Until the ranks opened up I would get the Topps box set at the end of the year(near Christmas)and that was all you needed to say you had them all in your collection. But, it must have been the bubble gum that drew me to go purchase loose packs during the week, and the wall flipping, we can't forget the wall flipping. I never did the bike spokes but some of my friends did because they made better "flips" if they had bends or tears in the cards...lol I miss seeing shows like this, memory lane type of deal, thank-you.❤️‍🔥🙏😻👑💖

Very nice. Between 1993 and 1994 is obviously when the classic pack design began to change. I began collecting in 1988, took a bunch of years off, started again heavily the last few years, especially after viewing these (and others') videos. Thank you.

Dude, I went to prison very young and stopped buying packs from 94 til 2017 when I got my 💩💩💩together. You just gave closure to a big hole in my childhood. All I did as a child in Norcal is play baseball, I was a first baseman and a pitcher but my arm was never that strong. Turned out my tendons were garbage and my arm was trashed by 13, and I could not play any longer. I am sure this contributed to the prison sentence. You just showed me how much I didn't miss, HA!. A large portion of the 2000,s cards are ugly AF. Good video Brother

Funny thing Erik, you're born 1 year (81) before I was and one day (28) after I was. Also we both like collecting baseball cards. My favorite year 1996, I'll never forget my dad (Who is 73) we bought packs together and he pulled a Mickey Mantle reprint. He was so happy. I always get a pack of Topps baseball to share that connection. My Dad isn't doing well so if people could lift him in up in prayer, it would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to lose him yet.

My thought is Topps put out base set hot garbage in terms of quality to celebrate their 40th anniversary in 1991. You then see a noticeable shift in quality when sifting through the 1992 and 1993 base set.

Thanks that was pretty educational. I learned about cards and myself. I had no idea what year I stopped collecting cards but by making out what year I stopped recognizing the card design I learn that it was 1994 when I turned 18 years and on the strike year that I stopped collecting cards. I had no idea that the strike year made me soo bitter. It was also educational by showing me what I missed. Can you do this again for other companies such as Donruss,Upper Deck. I remember that Topps weren't though of highly so maybe I kept collecting other companies.

792 cards and the best rookie a person could have stumbled on to was a Cecil Fielder. I collected that set. The Pete Rose cards were cool. I wish Topps would have put the rookie cards in the base sets. I thought it was smart and cool that topps brought back the trophy and the future stars for the 87 set. I love 86 set, but it was not an exciting set.

Ichiro did not get more hits then pete rose!! Pete rose’s numbers would’ve been much higher also had he played a few years in the Japanese league. I wish people would quit saying that!!!! Pete rose is currently the hits leader! Or another way of saying it is ichiro would not have gotten as many hits had he played all his games in the majors! If he is in the minors here in the US maybe he doesn’t even make the majors for an extra couple of years! 😡
