It's hit/miss honestly. It's cause you are outing bidding other people and other people might overbid making the price stupid. I've won a few auctions and got Pokemon Gold (dead battery/no save) for $60 which was a gamble, Pokemon X for like $23-30 and a pokemon dex toy from 1999 for like...$60 I think. Just depends on the item and who is bidding. Those the last minute bid snippers are the pits.
GoodWill has people that research and make list of high value items, cards in general are always pulled to be appraised, the reason the try to gaslight you is to get you to think that maybe there might be a base set Charizard or something but if there ever was one they would pull it out and sell it separately. Goodwill receives donations not only from your general public but all from corporations like Target and Walmart. Those stores donate unsold items for tax write offs (which is where you get unopened packs from). And all the open bulk usually comes from a parents clearing out there kids old stuff. When I worked at Goodwill I'd get dozens of boxes of card bulk but they were usually thrown out because kids are kids and dont always handle with care to keep cards nice and it wasnt worth the time to try and find the less then 10% of good condition cards to salvage anything. short story throwing money in the trash by buying the opened lots, unopened might have a chance at something but its an overpay for sure
Auctions and buying random cards is always a risk and I appreciate Rev for taking one for the team by showing us, the community, what you actually get so people become more aware!
Honestly props to you for buying products like these, especially from Goodwill, where it’s all luck based for getting something actually worth your money. 😀
Mystery boxes are SUPER fun! Its like playing a gacha game. LOVE your content Rev! Keep up the awesome work always! Me and my kids LOVE watching your content!
I work at goodwill and have definitely seen some crazy things like boxes of gold cards and graded cards but they get shipped off to separate buildings and then someone there lists them. But I also know people that have gotten first edition Charizard from the goodwill listings not sure if they were at a good price but they are out there
The Pokemon Advanced cards found in the last tin were basically checklist cards that accompanied the toys that were released during that era. Probably not worth very much but pretty cool that someone decided to save them in a random tin.
Love getting the CGC select mystery boxes, shiny vert mystery packs, and my favorite first evolving skies ETB off of Amazon that had a Rayquaza vmax alt art . Never tried one on eBay or from goodwill tho. Lol
LOVE THE TOPPS CARDS!!! :D Honestly the second box might be worth it just for the bulk alone, I would have the time of my life sorting through all that bulk. :)
These are the ultimate mystery box where you really have no idea what to expect and there is no one's reputation at risk if it sucks. lol I guess Goodwill but they do not care about the quality of the mystery box. Thanks for the great video!
Ancient mew has always been one of my all time favorite promos and cards in gen. When I started collecting again had to have one again got one for a good deal at 15
I saw these listing-almost bid on the the Eevee binder-and I laughed when I saw the bidding prices! I’m confused why the auction prices go so high on Goodwill, even for other types of items like common, used guitars. Maybe people get caught up in the auction; some might be hoping for a mystery gem, while others might be over paying to support the charity work.
I would have been super happy to get the holo Kyogre. I don’t really collect cards based on value, I just like getting holos or reverse holos of Pokémon I like or ones that I use in VGC.
places i’ve never expected to have pokémon cards always surprise me😅 like a sport store that sells shoes, water bottles, baseball hats, etc had pokémon. but they we’re definitely expensive
Thank you very much for doing this video. I’ve bid on a few lots in the past and always got overbid. Was thinking about upping my ceiling and I’m glad I didn’t now that I’ve seen this.
What were those ones that looked like they had a barcode on the back ?? Uhmm i forget what pokemon but i seen a tentacool i think that was one just curious ive never seen em before
It's funny you're did this video. As I literally spent $750 last week on a similar Pokémon/Baseball box from goodwill and opened it yesterday. They did the same thing w the photos. I got $50 dollars worth of cards and even those are ungradeable. But o well. I guess that's life. There welcome for the donations.
Be careful when buying from Goodwill or any similar store. They pluck all the good stuff and sell it at auction/eBay. Usually, any item you see at the store as already been vetted but sometimes good stuff falls through the cracks. Happy hunting!
OMG I live in the same town as pokerev….. the label said summit on it, and there’s a rumor going around pokerev live in nj… I live in summit, nj! This is crazy…
