Considering the variety of brands that produce LEGO-compatible bricks, there naturally comes variation in quality. Haven't heard of MJ before, so I can't judge on their parts quality. The design of the set however is very nice! Maybe you were just unlucky with MJ as the first knockoff brand you tried. Other brands like Mould King are of good quality and occasionally I order a set if I like the design. With figures however: There are several brands that beat LEGO in terms of quality for a way lower price. It's a matter of taste if you like the style and limitations of official LEGO minifigures over others, but if you want you can get figures with 360 degree printing of excellent quality and several new molds for 1,50$ each (and I mean excellent: Perfect color matching of printing light colors on dark colors! A thing LEGO does not get right for quite some time now; also some brands print their figures assembled so torso and legs line up perfectly)! Of course there's variation in quality as well; Koruit does original designs in top quality, also ARZD and WM Blocks are quite good. Pogo is worse than LEGO but still okay for the price.
Thanks for the comment. I didn’t know that there were alternate mini figures available, I will check them out! I’ve heard a lot of varied opinions about the quality of mould king. I would have tried a wider selection of brands but I was conscious not to end up with a load of plastic bricks that I don’t actually want to keep. I’d consider trying more in future If i see something I like.
@@brickodan For Mould King I suggest you try one of their "Speed Champions". They are quite affordable sets with similarly complex building techniques like LEGO's. I have a few of them and am very happy. Unfortunately all stickered though, so more similar to LEGO than I would like hahahah Other than that I rarely own third party sets, but individual bricks by Gobricks (supplier of Mould King and some other brands) for part-color-combinations that do not exist in LEGO. I think any moc builder should give that a try or they don't know what they are missing out on :D Quite complicated to get though via Excel file sent to Chinese reseller, as GB only has a domestic Chinese online shop.
@@golbez3794 I guess by definition, yes. But this particular set is clearly designed for display purposes. Probably the wrong choice of words but you get the point…
Personally I feel that using instruction manuals are much less stressful and actually way more of a soothing process. LEGO for me is an escape where I can just sit down, relax and have some fun. Figuring out how to fix a problem without any help doesn’t sound like fun to me. But never mind.
