The thought process you explained during the color corrector has flipped a switch in my mind about my consumerism. I'm plagued with the panic of going a day without my faves, but you're right, I've lived without it, I can survive a few days/weeks. Hearing you talk about scent memory and you have to let a scent go to break the connection to the past is so effing resonant. I used to adore Another 13 from Le Labo and so did the person I dated. Then everything went to hell. A full bottle is tucked away in a drawer as a relic of that time and this person. It kind of breaks my heart to smell it and I’ve gone scentless for the entire pandemic now

I avoided Lancôme Tresor Midnight Rose for a while for a similar reason, but tried it after I was in a new happy relationship and now I can associate it with me in intimate moments rather than with one specific person. Funny fact is that both the partners love it on me, but now it’s just my scent, free from one single relationship association.

I decided for now not to do a seasonal budget but to stick to my 12 item low buy for the year and start matching the money spend on frivolous purchases in money saved. So if I spend $35 on a palette, I must put $35 in to savings. I heard some rapper said something about how if you can't afford it twice you can't afford it. Its something that has stuck with me. This begins in April.

I have a very pronounced cupid’s bow, so I can’t really rub my lips together with any pigmented lip product. I have (mostly) trained myself not to do it, but I still often find myself with gloss “outside the lines.” I also know that I am always the only person around me who notices. 😜 Blessings!

The fact that you are excited about your color corrector after not having it for so long means that it really is a good product for you! Sometimes when you don't replace things immediately, you can really see what products matter in your routine. That thing you thought was a staple, you may not miss at all! Another note, I really love my tower28 gloss and I think a large reason is that the shade Cashew is like my exact lip color, so it blends in really seamlessly. Even if I rub my lips together, the color still looks even, thankfully

My favorite buttery, luscious, kinda makeupy lip product are the Sephora Melting Lip Clicks Lip Balm. Zero tackiness and the color caramel is a nice muted gingerbread and it's on sale right now for $10 (they're usually $14 which seems high for Sephora brand but the product is really really lovely). And fragrance-free which I love. Thank you for your insight into the Tower 28 lip balms.

Katie Jane Hughes often uses a fuller coverage foundation, but with a fluffy brush and a super light hand. The end result always looks glowy and very skin like, never like a full on mask.

When you pressed your lips together I was actually able to see what you meant by the peach gloss. It looks like a glossy lip liner in peach. You can see it for a split second at 29:22-23

I'm so early!! YES. So, the Inkey List balm: I LOVE that stuff. It's great for drier skin and it's so affordable! It's funny to hear you say you don't like jars because I actually removed mine from the tube and put it into a jar! I find that it tends to separate over time in the tube and it's hard for me to get it to re-emulsify so I decided to "de-tube" it 😂 EDIT: I got excited when you mentioned that you bought the Tower28 glosses. I own 4 of those and I love the way they feel on the lips.

Cleansing balms and mascara are very personal items. It seems everyone has very different tastes and reactions to them. I tried the inkey one and hated it so much, I was glad the bottom burst open ( so I had excuse to throw it away).

I went crazy for the T28 lipglosses at the beginning of quarantine because I lOVE the texture and the colors, but I could not handle the smell. So many people weren't mentioning the smell or were saying they liked it, so I thought I was imagining it or going crazy. But as someone who's really triggered by smells (and is also allergic to coconut, so the coconut-ish smell really was offputting) the smell of the glosses was NAUSEATING to me. To me, the smell of these lipglosses is stomach-churning, and so I ended up decluttering 5 of their glosses to my sister. If they were to ever get rid of the smell, I'd buy them all up in a heartbeat, but unfortunately these glosses don't work for me :(

I like the exact same things in a cleansing balm, and while I haven't tried the Inkey list one, I love the Squalane cleanser from the Ordinary. It takes off every little bit of makeup, even the most stubborn mascara, and it's also not too expensive. I'll be sticking with that one for a while.

If you’re ever looking for an amazing nourishing lip product again, may I suggest Fitglow lip serums. By far my favourite! They’re pricey but they’re so nourishing that you don’t have to keep applying. Not that you have to go out and buy one now. Just an idea. Xx

Lately I've felt strangely (for me) satisfied by parts of my collection. I have 0 wish to buy more and it feels weird, cause it's a new feeling I never had before. I feel that a part of myself tries to find the wish for something new, but it's just not there. As per base products that are ok for very fair yellow toned girls, but not heavy and ok for combo skin I highly recommend the missha BB perfect cover cream in number 13. It claims to be a bb cream, but it is actually a very light foundation that blends with the skin and grabs on my combo skin perfectly. I would recommend that for you! And the iUnik cleansing oil. It's exactly what you want, it has a pump and one pump is perfect, just the amount you need. I've had it since November, use it daily and it's only 1/4 done.

I’d be interested to hear how you get on with the inkey cleanser in the long run. I bought mine just before the pandemic hit and stopped using it for a few months since I wasn’t wearing makeup. It did not age well - when I went to use it again the product had separated so badly that I ruptured the end trying to get squeeze it out, and now I have about a third left and it is mostly liquid. But I really like the formula/price/packaging so I’d like to try it again.

I had a tube of the Inkey List Oat Cleansing Balm burst at the top seam. A bunch of people in a skincare Facebook group had the same experience. Seems like a thick balm in a tube is a good idea, but in practice the texture is too thick for the packaging.

That’s my cleansing balm of choice too! I got the oil double cleanse to take off my mascara and it’s really good then I go in with this all over my face and neck, then second cleanse with their salicylic cleanser which is good and gentle over my eyes too?!

Ooh that Inkey List cleansing balm looks interesting! I've been seeing it around but never felt the urge to try it. However based on your description of it I think I'd like it. I'm always on the hunt for a different cleansing balm, it's one of the product categories that I never buy the same one twice except from the Farmacy one but I can't justify having something that expensive for constant daily use, even if it lasts a few months. I recently bought the Q+A grapefruit cleansing balm from Amazon, decent size for an excellent price point, good ingredients and so so nice to use. It has a gelly-creamy consistency despite the first two ingredients being oils. I definitely recommend it!

I bought the Inkey List Oat Balm and Sephora Collection foundation and didn't care for either. The cleanser didn't completely emulsify and ended up giving me breakouts. At first I thought I liked the foundation, but after a week I realized that it didn't sit nicely on my very dry skin. Like you, I appreciated having a very light, neutral shade. I found it to be even lighter than it looked in the bottle and in online swatches.

I think you might like the Rare Beauty Glossy Lip Balm. I have found that it is not sticky and feels almost like a very smooth lip oil that gives a light amount of color. I agree with you about the Tower 28 lipgloss. I love the colors but the texture is not quite what I am looking for.

After trying tons of BB/CC/Tinted moisturizers in from drugstore to luxury... I came to the same conclusion as you. I am the “happiest” when I prime with a luminous primer, then use a medium coverage foundation mixed with another pump of the same primer applied in thin layers. My favorite foundations for this are Lancome Teint Idole and Tarte Foundcealer but only because I’ve found the most accurate matches in those lines.

The kosas lip oils sound like something you would like. I got the set of 3 minis in November (?) and I used up the clearish one in 2 months. Not sticky at all and very nourishing!

I didn't love the tower28 glosses either. Maybe consider the Roen liquid lip balm. They are similar, a little thicker and less gel, and WAY more nourishing! The color Remi might be right up your alley.

I got that oat balm in the mail today!! we're looking for a lot of the same things in makeup remover. I'm actually very proud of myself because I put a "fun" item in my cart on instinct, but I recognized that it was more of a mechanical behavior than a need/deep enough desire to justify a purchase. also, I'd prefer if T28 glosses were fragrance free since the owner has eczema and they advertise themselves as eczema safe (but fragrance is irritating). I haven't found them to be sticky in the slightest, so it's funny you say that. maybe I haven't payed enough attention!

Love the bag. Be careful storing your bags by the window.....you don’t want the sun damaging the leather. Sunlight will evaporate the natural oils in the leather, and when leather dries it stiffens and cracks. 😀

I’ve been considering getting the tower 28 milky gloss but I think I’ll pass now since I can’t stand goopy textures. I was considering it because it seemed like a fancier version of my old faithful Nyx butter gloss, which is my favorite nourishing gloss. But now I’m wondering why I was even looking for a more expensive version of something I already love. It might actually be worth checking out for you, they have a couple of really nice brown nudes which I know you like. My most repurchased lip product is the butter gloss in madeleine

I am always on the hunt for the same type of lip products and did not like tower lip glosses. I like the new bare minerals ones and the Charlotte tilbury superstar lipstick and am waiting for their new hapikiss ones, fingers crossed.

I wanted to love the Inkey Oat Cleansing Balm but it just didn’t work for me. I felt like it left a film and felt heavy on my skin, even with my double cleanse. And then my skin just felt itchy after using it. I was so bummed because I wanted to love it. Im a cleansing balm girl and I love the idea of a balm in a tube instead of a jar. I’m working on a post for my blog on cleansing balms so I’ve tried a TON over the last few months.

Sad!! I actually have noticed since filming this that it doesn't emulsify as much as I would like on its own, but I don't feel like there's a film left after the second cleanse. TBD!

Physicians Formula makes a fantastic cleansing balm..comparable to Farmacy Green Clean. It’s excellent! Also I like the Inky List, I bought several things and they were good but not good enough to run out and repurchase.

Walgreens sells Bioderma products now. They don't have them in store, but they will ship to a store so you can go pick it up with other stuff at the drugstore. (I always seem to have something I need to buy at the drugstore anyway).

I just bought the Becca highlighter in champagne pop. I have been wanting to try it forever but didnt want to buy duplicates. My highlighter finished and knowing Becca will soon be no more I bought it that and the tower 28 lipgloss in cashew. They haven’t come in yet. Really hoping the both work out for me. This not being able to shop in store and swatch things is really a bummer and makes purchases even more of a guessing game

i was so excited to get the inkey list cleansing balm because it is by far the most cost effective cleansing balm i’ve found, but it just did not work for me. it leaves the weirdest film on me and for some reason the only part of my face that it doesn’t come off easily is my eye area, which is what i mainly use a product like that for. i end up having to scrape my eye socket to get all the residue off. totally agree with you about how it’s the ideal packaging for a cleansing balm! i’m so sad that it didn’t work for me :(
