I have chickens of my own your chicken that is looking rough and losing feathers is molting she will lose a lot of feathers and new ones will grow in it is completely fine. Like it up so flair can see this
also besides molting, if she is sick or weak in any way the others will key in on it and peck it's feathers etc. until it's dead. then will eat it. just something to watch for.
You need to take the string of the hay when it is in the feeder because it is really bad for them i had a prize bull worth around 120k eat some and get really sick Like so flair sees
Dark Donkey: Biscuits Light Donkey: Gravy that way when ya talk about both Donkeys can be like.. "See Biscuits and gravy over there chilling and grazing having a good day"
Well it's only one so she could be molting mine did that and then looked better in a month. They also sometimes rip each others feathers out to establish dominance.
Dark one: Eeyore Light one: patches Also the chicken is either being attacked by the other chickens because it’s trying to make its way up the pecking order before the other chickens in charge eat or it is moulting. It’s more likely to be getting attacked than moulting though because when they mould it’s normally just the under feathers (down( feathers that keep them warm in the winter) that comes out rather than the feathers on top which help to keep them waterproof in the rain and give them their colours. The best way you could prevent this is by leaving her in a coop to herself until she heals or you could just leave her out with all the other chickens until she learns however the chances of her getting attacked repeatedly and her injuries becoming worse are a lot higher if you are to leave her out with the rest of the chickens so the best thing to do would be to put her in a coop away from all the other chickens until she heals.
Dawn-quixote, like Don quixote ... sounds like donkey!! I woke up my husband out of a sound sleep!! I was so excited I thought of something clever... hahaha!!
Dark: Mocha Light: Vanilla bean Oh and I am not very educated when it comes to farm stuff becouse I have no experience but if you need a good bedding try corn cob they use it for horses it's cheap and they wont eat it (Wont hurt them if they do)
It could be something birds do called molting.Their feathers will fall out but it is normal for that to happen. It's especially known to happen to chickens. They will grow back though
You should think about barn doors on the "sheds" just to give the animals some more wind protection, maybe leave the middle section open, and the two sides closed off with barn doors or just plywood, and maybe make/buy a gate for closing them in the sheds when you have to do some remodeling or whatever. ;)
