Haaaa I knew it! It's the JEM FP1. A local hero here in Malaysia went to hunt one down for years, so it made sense that you went for this as well. Congrats on the new guitar, Perf! Play and enjoy it in good health! 🙏
So immensely happy for you that you were able to have your 'full circle' moment, Perf. Guitars are weird in how they can act as time machines, connecting the past and present. I had a similar moment with a 1990 Fender HM Strat not so long ago. Congrats on acquiring a truly iconic instrument!
Yup, the HexHider is meant to strip if there is too much binding. That's also why we give it a lifetime warranty. We'd much rather strip the $9 HexHider than break off the bolt head and cost you $100 to repair a broken bolt. Thanks for the mention! Congrats on the guitar. It's beautiful and it's so nice to land a special instrument. They always seem to inspire me to play more when I find one. Thanks for sharing your find!
I can understand why this is a dream guitar. I saw these when I was a teenager in the early 90s and even then they weren’t cheap, and they have only gone up.
Thank you for the inspiring words. So happy for you sir! I think it would be nice to have a tour and visit the Performance Guitar in Hollywood and have a peek at how they do things. But either way, I'll be looking forward for your video. 😊
The look on your face when you opened up the case was as if you were overwhelmed, but in a good way. Congratulations on getting your dream guitar Perfecto!
That feeling when you finally open the case to see your dream instrument is something else, man. Had that experience a couple years ago myself with my Midnight Blue Rickenbacker 4003, and I'll never forget it. Well deserved, Perf!! I'd also want to see you take it over to the shop in Hollywood to get it worked on. Extremely rare to get a chance to get the instrument set up by the people who know it the most!
Nice Perf. I remember the yellow Ibanez guitar. Congrats on your jem ibanez guitar, the look of pure happiness there! Cant wait to see and hear you play more great music with that guitar!
The bridge and neck pup are PAF Pros. The middle single coil is an HS-2 if I recall. I remember when these Jems came out in '87. I played one at my local shop. I loved the way it sounded and loved the PAF Pros and had some installed on several of my guitars. I could see why Vai and Satch used them at the time because they are very clear and harmonic.
Wow congrats sir perf thats a real shedders guitar. I remembered when i bought my first electric guitar.. was a gio ibanez for beginners …now i passed it on to my daughter and i bought myself a sterling axis.
My first guitar was a 1979 Ibanez Roadster which was pretty much a strat copy but japan made and amazing quality....My mother "rest her soul" spent her entire bonus check to buy me this incredible guitar..I started taking lessons and started getting better and came home one day to get it to take my weekly lessons and it was gone...One of my brothers friends had broken into the house and stole it and we never recovered it...Broke my heart and really made me mad knowing the sacrifice my mother did to buy that for me...I wasn't able to buy another for many years..Now years and years later I have done pretty good for myself and decided to try and get back into playing again and was able to buy myself my dream guitar which was a Jackson RR1 USA model...Feels good to get your dream guitar doesn't it?...I have bought many other high end guitars over the years but I have never stopped thinking about that first one...Saw many like it but they aren't that one...Enjoy that gorgeous guitar and play the hell out of it!
Perfecto! Maaaan. THIS guitar. Congratz Mate. I had this FP between 87 and 93. Sold it for a Les Paul. Then the Les Paul was stolen in summer of 93. Last week a friend of mine borrowed me his FP for a video, which i will drop soon. So many good memories with this guitar. Love these thin Ibanez necks. Of course i gave the FP back to my friend. Last saturday i´ve found a second hand RG 550. HA! Sure, its not a JEM FP, but now i have this thin neck again. All the best Perfecto ✌🏻
Happy for acheiving your dream sir... to me, not a very good guitarist but always wanted to have a guitar i wanted but cant do it, am 45 now and still looking at that dream kinda finding away.
Congrats sa new guitar sir! Bridge pickup: (JEM77Floral)1988-2004 DiMarzio PAF Pro (H) Middle pickup: DiMarzio JEM Single (S) Neck pickup: DiMarzio PAF Pro (H)
Congrats on your dream guitar. I was also able to buy 1 in 2009 and it was in battered condition and had it repaired and setup. The pickups on the JEMFP are PAFPROs. Yup the output is not that high compared to the latter JEM models but you can make any guitar sound great anyway ;)
CONGRATULATIONS Man! I Have Ibanez Prestige Year 2000. When you hit the whammy bar I noticed you mentioned that it went slightly out of tune. I had similar. issue with the Original Floyd Rose going slightly out of tune as well. I’m happy for you man. I am looking for an early Ibanez Prestige guitar lately. Once again Congratulations man. YES!!! DREAM Big DREAMS
The frets design the leaves are so bright and very highlight that was very cool and attractive❤❤❤🇵🇭. Hope we can see and you play that guitar in rivermaya reunion
Congratulations man! I know what a huge deal it is for us 80's kids to get one of these guitars, I got my floral Jem in 2011, I traded someone an entire back tattoo for mine and still can't believe it every time I look at it! Have fun with that guitar it's a really nice one!
Congrats Perf. I feel you 100%. Unwrapping my dream guitar during the 90’s was like unwrapping a treasure chest of musical possibilities - each strum resonated with a mix of satisfaction and inspiration.
So happy for you bro. I totally feel that what your feeling. I just got me a Jackson Jack Butler reissue and still can't belive it. I to want a Ibanez jem Lockness one day. Awesome 👌
Congrats Perfecto, it's a bit funny. I thought "what might be his dream guitar? Oh, it's an Ibanez. Might be a JEM? No, he's not the JEM type of person." Turns out you are a JEM-person and I hope you will have a lot of fun and great moments with it. Also you need Henning to comment on what's happening at 2:49.
nice buy. I remember in the early 90's when RJ just recently opened their first branch in Park Square Makati that a Floral Jem was displayed. (along with other classics like BB King's Lucille and SRV's highly customized Strat to name a few). I recall ogling and salivating over that Jem too being a pseudo Vai nut. Congratulations on your newest guitar. :)
Congrats sir Perf on the guitar well deserved. This is also my dream guitar the Jem or Pia. It is a thing of beauty. I hope one day I'll get my hands on one

Congratulations Perf! That is an awesome guitar to have. Ibanez does make one of the best guitars in the world. My wife gifted me an Ibanez RG 1820x Prestige 10 years ago. It's a dream guitar and a dream to play indeed. Happy shredding!
According to the Ibanez Wiki, both the neck and bridge pickups are DiMarzio PAF Pros (which was not uncommon throughout the '80s among DiMarzio users).
You deserve that one to be perfecto, have it done off site. and then you get to open that case one more time like it’s the first time once it’s perfecto 🤩
Congratulations! I fell in lust with the recent blue, floral JEM despite the fact that I can no more play it (thanks to a neuromuscular disorder) than afford it.
Congrats maestro Perf! Especially loved your sentiment about dreaming big - I personally am going through a rough patch right now. but will keep pushing on :)
If I may offer my perspective, what works for me may not work for everyone. I strongly believe that having more opportunities increases your chances of success. Pursue various dreams, both big and small, and celebrate each achievement to stay motivated. Despite initially dreaming of a musical career, my academic path led me towards becoming a doctor, achieving success through PRC board exams in both physical therapy pre-med and medicine. While one dream became a hobby, the key is to keep adding dreams and turning failures into motivation. I hope this resonates with the others.
Might be a good idea to also clean out the inside cavity of the bridge block for that "E" string and file away and rough spots of oxidation that may have built up from being seized up. Or just go ahead and do all of them. That will keep it operating smooth during string changes.
