I got a rear bumper off a 78 Ford that I’m not using. I believe it’s factory and it looks like the factory bumper on the 77 fords. Could possibly sell it to you. Also am in Minnesota.
I often think of my cousins wedding in the summer of 1977, I was ten years old and in front of the church there was a brand new 77 high boy. The owner said he bought it that Wednesday, which made it 3 days old. I've never seen another one like it, two tone silver and copper metallic. I've seen a half ton 2wd, so nowheres near as magnificent as the highboy. It was by far the most beautiful truck I had ever seen. On the way out to the lake cabin for the wedding reception he had 3 or 4 girls in the cab, he gunned it around a corner on the gravel road and hooked a rock in the road and flipped it cab down in the ditch bottom. Flattened the cab right to the body, total right off. Everyone ended up ok, but I never did see that truck again.
My brother bought a truck at 1977 off the factory line in mawa new jersee, where that truck went everywhere. Now they're all japanese warehouses where the factory once stood
Its tie between that and the 78 , 79 . All strong beautiful trucks . It was all down hill from there. I miss my 79 f 250 so much. Every time i see one i regret selling it. Hope to be able to get another one soon .
I just picked one up for $500, apparently it was owned and used for professional racing by the original owner, then the second owner wanted to turn it into a flat bed farm truck but just let it sit for who knows how long luckily I saved it from that. I got to looking at it and not a lick of rust that goes beneath the surface, The first owner who raced it had actually already welded brand new steel cab corners. I feel like I got the steal of the century.
I've had 2 different 73's, and 75 that was stolen while at a repair shop, and I had a 77 step side. The 73-79 generation F series is my favorite style! I have to get me one again!
I love these old fords....my first ford was a 79 bronco with 9" lift and 42" boggers...my next ones were a 78 f250 and a 79 f150...really I bought the last 2 trucks just for the motors and trannys so I whistlin dieseled both of em....this was before it was cool to WD them and post it on the internet....gotta say tho, these old ford's are some of the toughest trucks I've ever seen.
35s will clear, that's what I run on my 73 Highboy. You should get a steering damper before you do much else, these trucks like to wander. The C6 wasn't an OD trans, if you're lucky, they put an OD trans in there, otherwise the top speed would be the same as the NP435. Ford changed the cam timing on the newer 460s and smoked them up. I also have a 88 F350 460 EFI dually and the power is a bit lacking compared to the older engines.
You will have the same top speed with this trans as you would with the old 4 speed. 3rd gear in the C6 is the same ratio as 4th gear in the old 4speed. Direct 1 to 1 ratio. This is a beautiful truck
Cool find, I have 73 F100 Custom Explorer, I call it the pissed off Ford, 360 4speed, with true dual cherry bomb glass packs. Only paid 200 bucks like 4 years ago.
I have a 360fe 73 highboy. I idle at close to 0 psi after running for a while too. I don’t think much pressure is required at hot idle, as long as there is some flow to rocker assembly to stay happy you should be fine. And if there isn’t any chatter from the lifters or rockers you should be fine, I run 15w40 and it seems to stay happy 😃
You have an early 1977 like mine with fuel tank in cab I ordered mine in early to mid Oct 1976 and arrived at dealer mid Nov. Still have it great truck going in for off frame restoration this fall
It’s crazy what they’re asking for those trucks these days I bought a few of them back in the 80s and you could pick them up for like 1500 bucks to 2500 bucks I’m pretty good shape
6in lift. 37in mud tires. Do the 7.3 Godzilla gasser with supercharger swap. Dual exhaust. All new led lights. Keep inside era appropriate (7.3 powerstroke would be cooler but 7.3gasser would be easier. And can buy em straight from Ford racing)
Do a shackle flip for more lift. I had a 1979 F150 4x4 with a 351M on 33inch BFG's (without any lift) and the 4 speed it would cruise along at 70 mph without any problems .
The grill is a 1973 to 1975 in it I use to to have a 77 f250 and had to sell it at the time now I have got a 73 f250 highboy I have to put a engine in I’m going to build a 390 fe motor
Love the truck, i have a 78 myself, just a little critique, get a gimbal for the DSLR, it will make the footage smoother and not as shakey, and better overall.
Nice truck, I'm located in Australia and have owned a 1974 F250 Hi Boy since 1990, however mine is right hand drive, yup these were assembled in Australia with 300 cu 6 cylinder engines, though mine is fitted with an Australian thickwall block 351 Cleveland , New Process 435 4 speed and 205 NP transfer. Dana HD 44 front, Dana 60 LSD rear. The Cleveland is pretty healthy running 9.5:1 compression with a Carter Thermoquad 4 bbl carb, (original fitment in Australia on our post 1977 Clevelands) Clevelands were manufactured here until around 1980 in two capacities, 351 cu and 302 cu, the 302 runs the same bore but 1/2 inch less stroke. I have two spare factory rear step bumpers but its a long way to you from the South Pacific hi hi !
Congrats on the great looking and running truck for sure. If you swap the oil pressure gauge out and find it still reads low at idle I’d look at cam bearings. Can’t wait to see the great content that is around the corner with that unit.

@@montanaman2439 I’m assuming this is someone or associated with who I bought the truck from. I purchased it for more than $6000. I have a bill of sale. I sold the truck for the same price I purchased it for to a buyer that restores vehicles. I didn’t make any money on it. I’m sure the person who bought it made it nicer and is selling it for a profit since that is his business. I am an honest and transparent person. I didn’t create any “lies” for views. I have a RU-vid channel where I make videos about everything I do. That includes the bs as well. I’m also assuming you are or are associated with the person calling me at midnight claiming to be a lawyer lol. If that call was real I’ll see you in court and happily defend my case;)

We were at least nice enough to find someone to ship it to you, and no, we never gave you a set price on how much the guy was going to charge or a set date for shipping either. It was all an unplanned idea that we pulled outta the air. Everything about the shipping was an estimate. As far as shipping a purchase usually goes, it usually has nothing to do with the seller. You agreed to purchase the truck for $6,000 (on you), and because the fact a little kid was complaining about driving all the way back to Montana to pick the truck up, we then offered to get someone we knew in Minnesota to possibly haul it to you so you didn’t have to. You’re welcome. That was the only reason we did that was to help out so you wouldn’t have to drive all the way back to Montana-as much of a headache that was on our end. I will admit, he was taking forever on the shipping so I was just going to ship it to you myself (on the text), but then he finally got ahold of me. And we never kept you out of the loop, we always texted to let you know, and were even apologetic. So by all means, keep ranting like a baby on RU-vid for views. I wouldn't do too much to it. I would just clean the paint up a little more. You should be able to fit 35's Maybe hop the motor up a little headers and exhaust.
Hey bud I would check and see if your heads are from 71 and older cause those are the heads that came with 385 hours power , also 1977 did come with 460 stock they where just built kinda weak cause of the oil crisis so you might actually have a stock 77 460 but bad ass truck man, also I have a 77 ford f 150 on 38 with the mp305 4 speed manual and it does run up to 80 mph in 4th the c 6 is just kind of a weak transmission always go manual handle more power and torque
Appreciate the daily Bible verse! I was watching a sermon this past Sabbath that talked about how we pray and ask of God. But in alot of cases we don't do or aren't as concerned with what he asks of us. God does hold his people to a high standard. We're supposed to stick out like a sore thumb in this world. Jesus was a pretty hardcore preacher, he didn't preach like most modern churches. I have learned so much from the Bible...stuff religious people don't even talk about or know of, or have great misunderstanding of. I'm definitely a work in progress and have a long road ahead of me tho. Most "worship the image of the beast" and don't even realize it. You seem to love the Lord brother, do some deep diving into the beast prophecies of Daniel and Revalations, unclean foods, the Sabbath...how and when and by whom Sunday worship came about. Salvation depends on these and alot more. But be prepared to be floored....it can really mess with ya when you learn how far off we've drifted.... The only law " nailed to the cross" as some preach...were the sacrificial laws and the ceremonial laws. The Bible is actually abundantly clear about this, but traditions of men are deeply rooted in the modern church. It's a sad thing really. Anyways, I hope you continue to seek and find. God Bless

Definitely need modern efi or diesel swap while keeping the divorce transfer case possible hook front and rear winches ran by the divorced trans like the older jeep and dodge military rigs that winch setup is strong but only works while truck is running

Idk what has been done to the motor but, I’m pretty sure the 365hp was rated for the 68-72 460’s. They had different heads and pistons. The timing was also running straight up instead of retarded like the 73 and later
I have to check the vin on the block but I believe it’s an older 68-72 but I could be wrong. The 77 4x4s never came factory with the 460 it was swapped at some point in its life.
I like them a lot and had them when new. Quite a leap in price from new till now as I bought the 71 highboy with every option available and dealer add ons for twenty three hundred...a few dollars less really but spoiled the change..I think that your right that a forestry or sheriffs dept. had it for the spotlight. Those four sixty engines are at best just not reliable to hot rod unless you spend the money to get the bridge work done for the crank and the block seasoned so headgaskets don't go south with some boost.
@@codyshearer7626 I dunno. Rick does have a good point. Even if he was to swap it to a diesel it wouldn't have the power that the 460 had, but even if you made the 6.9 make the power the 460 had, it's only gonna last a few thousand miles. Maybe a 7.3 or a 12 valve would be a better option on diesels to swap into it. The old idi based engines aren't very good at handling power
Keep that 460 and keep it carburetor there is not a nothing better then a Holley carburetor that is adjusted turned right i have 6 vehicles equipped with holly carburetor
I’ve never head to regear one of these to run 35’s. As long as the V8 is in decent shape and the trans operates like it should then 4:10 gears can handle 35’s perfectly fine. I’ve also ran 36 and 37’s with no trouble
