It would be funny if you got a hold of Paul Jr and had him secretly help you and then at the reveal he jumps out and him and his dad throw chairs at each other lol.
I appreciate that you made sure the seller was making a profit. You prove time and time again that you don't have to screw people over to be successful
Good on Paul for taking a misunderstanding or mild criticism, and facing it and doing this. Shows he doesn't take himself to seriously and has class. Good on ya'll too.
Paul Sr. Seems to have really chilled out getting older… my dad did the same thing. All the stress isn’t worth it in life. It’s easier to let things go and smile more often.
I think discovery was also just really good at showing us all the drama and craziness cause that’s what sells. Sr definitely had his fair share of anger issues but i doubt his day to day life was as full of it as the show lead us to believe.
Yet he still takes things too seriously. He is just insufferable; even if a situation was perfect - he would find something wrong with it, even if he had to make it happen. That fire is something else completely and by the looks of the restaurant and the expanding shop - I 'd say he still has that and is applying it better than that TV show ever did.
He also handed Paul Sr the victory. Paul Sr May be out of his element with Japanese bikes, but he doesn't have a shortage of options. Especially at that price point
Thanks for not taking the easy route with this build-off. Very interested is seeing what you can do with a bike that most would write off as a total loss.
@@BikesandBeardsI got a better bike than that I'll donate I just don't have a title for it clean vin located in noble Oklahoma it's a 79 Yamaha xs1100 was being turned into a hard tail bobber needs minor work to run
@@BikesandBeards It's funny what camera angles can do. You look like a Monster standing next to Paul Senior! He might as well be a baby trying to be all bad😊
This is a situation that's seen a lot in companies turned tv show. People tend to change personalities to make the show better. Usually, once you get them away from the cameras, the real them comes back out and they usually are pretty good people.
@@scenic871 True although it would seem the beef with Jr is real, unfortunately. I really hate that for them because I wouldn't trade the relationship with my dad for the world.
In my day (70's) the engine and main part of frame was all that was used to build a chopper. Wiring and plumbing all added after frame finished. Good luck.
I have like 13k E-Mails unread over 3 accounts. And I am not a Business Owner / Social Media Personality. There are just some E-mails that I never read because I know through the title it's bullshit
I love the dynamic between Sr and Mike. Sr with the no-nonsense attitude, and Mike is just a true gentleman!... you guys need a TV series doing bike build offs
Order a simple wiring kit for a chopper and a triumph hardtail kit, pull that engine out, clean up and chop the frame, hire a welder, throw it together, disassemble, paint, reassemble and win.
I had one of those that I put a sportster peanut tank, 9” extended springer front end, spool front wheel with no brake and low z bars. Such a simple clean cool build. Everyone love it. No speedometer. Only 2 switches, ignition and lights.
Gotta be cafe racer style for the triumph imo, how about restomod? upside down forks, clip ons, ohlins reservoir rear shocks, mv augusta or similar front light, classic cafe racer hump fairing on the rear, modern 3 or 5 spoke wheels, cnc rear sets, shorty pipe.
I usually buy a wrecked or completely basket case motorcycle and build it once a year. I am broke with a budget of 1k I got a great idea love to help. But I don't know what cad is I'm just a stupid truck driver. This is awesome love the crossover. GOD BLESS you guys
That Norton electric bike in your storage was quite impressive. Most EVs have at least some "phantom drain" on the battery that would have "bricked" the battery within two years if not plugged into a wall outlet during that time. The fact that you still have 99% full battery after 2 years makes me want to go out and buy one of those.
It would be so cool to just embrace the fire that this bike has been in. Include it in the design, meybe some melted plastic parts, dripping stuff, it would give it so much character, definitely one of a kind opportunity
Maybe not so much keeping melted parts for aesthetic but he could hands down preserve the paint job with the scorching and carbonized burn spots. Otherwise a brand new realistic on fire or smoldering paint job would be epic just because of the story and still allow the bike to look pristine
I have the same idea, I think it would be cool with a burnt melted type theme, after all how often you see a burnt up melted motorcycle as a show piece that runs and rides, I hope he uses the idea
Being british and of that age I grew up around triumph choppers really looking forward to seeing how it goes My personal favorite style for a Triumph custom is a flat tracker but had a couple of traditional chopper Triumphs over the years
These "modern classic" 865 Twins obviously lend themselves to Cafe Racer, Bobber and Scrambler Builds. Triumph basically offered those styles from the factory (Thruxton, Bonneville Bobber, Scrambler) All of the above types of build could also work really well with a "rat" bike style imho. But they also have been done A LOT - I don't know what that and a rat bike style (which is not exactly flashy) would mean for your chances at winning. It would mean TONS of resources and hopefully easier to source parts and stuff. There are two types of builds I always thought would be great for a modern classic from Triumph. A Bonneville build that looks like one of the bikes used for the early land speed records - the ones that don't look like spaceships. After all, that is where the Bonneville got her name. Or a 60s, 70s, or maybe even 80s race bike style fully fared build. (Yes, i know the XSR900 exists.) Both, especially the latter, way harder to do. Personally I'd love to see a rat bike "crispy critter" Bobber or Cafe Racer - Keep as much patina (aka damage XD) as possible and just make it nice to ride. Disclaimer: My only Qualification is being European and having owned & ridden Triumphs (including '04 865 Thruxton)
Funny, I just emailed them pics of some 1959 Bonneville's. Cafe racer would be great, a blast to the past kind of thing, but it has been done a lot. They don't have a lot to spend and parts are plenty.
shhh, don't ruin the surprise when he finds out actual capacity of that battery ie A⋅h, not just simple voltage which is what that 99% measures which tells almost nothing about actual capacity of a battery
Sean, The bonneville was a traditionally chopped bike. My dad had a 72 bonneville with a king/queen seat and sissy bar with an extended front end. I remember it fondly. Thanks for the awesome content. I bought my first bike after watching your review of the triumph Thunderbird. Rock on!
I really think you should find a way to keep some of the fire damage in the final design, it will help add story and an artistic flare to the final piece.
Hey thanks for the shoutout to Grindhard, neighbors of ours up here in the mountains of Northern Idaho! Also God bless the late *GREAT* Rabbit Rob Pitts: "Weel seeya nex tahm ohn Rabbits Euuuzed Cores!"
Always love seeing your videos , very educative, I'm really blessed only God knows how much I praise him, getting $100k bi weekly and I’m retired now. I’ve got a good cash and can also support my family
With a possible usable engine, solid frame, you can basically do anything with that without ruining its pedigree. The fire beat you to it. You can Frankenstein it without wrecking anything.
Love watching your videos. I've recently aquired a 1989 Kawasaki ZX-10 that's been sitting in a barn for 30yrs, I can't wait to get it back on the road and watch your videos in the process
First and most importantly, I really appreciate your videos and being open about you being a Christian , thank you for Believing, now just an idea for the bike build, how about going with the burnt look, think a ghost rider theme , just a thought, no matter what you do, it’ll be great! Thanks again and God Bless
You're making me like Paul Sr. for the first time. I can tell he likes to give you crap but, I think he admires what you do. He really respects you guys.
That bike is crispy on the outside and has that roached out patina look, but on the inside is a diamond in the rough. I'm sure Shaun will come through with flying colors on this build.
This is a pretty bike to build something out of it. Not that I ever did, but having watched all episodes of OCC jr vs. sr series - how hard can it be. Fat_guy_on_couch_noises. Can´t wait to see the build off and your next videos. Cheers!
Because this bike was in a fire you should do a tribute to that. Red with flames. Maybe some metal cut to make it look like it was destroyed in the fire. But of course running like a dream.
The Bonnie is a great starting point. It has such a nice stance. I wish I could find one for 1200. I've built a few bikes in my time... I'd go with an enclosed aluminium plate retro look. Don't know what you're gonna do with it but I weirdly hope it includes a belly-pan 🤣
While taking on that bike just as a channel project might have been fun I think using it as the basis for your build-off bike is a mistake. That thing needs a full tear down to bare frame, inspection/repair/refurb of every single component and only then can you start putting it back together. That's a LOT of work for something that is supposed to be the basis for a build project.
Name plate on front handle bars, just below the lamp, "The Catastrophic”, in Caps too! You’re very welcome. And tell Paul to trim his Nosehairs, they’re starting to creep out at us - WHEW...
If I were senior I would probably make an old school chopper out of a Honda 650 or 750. Like the old choppers. Pretty sure that would be the cheapest way to go
