check the oil in the gearbox they shipped them empty. my friends got 3-4 hours and then we had to full rebuild it all at the machine shop. it was a brand new for riches too.

also, on the hydraulic plumbing/direction of rotation route it so that the one way valve plumbed inline allows the blades to overrun when you stop, otherwise you get a lot of force on everything in the gearbox when you stop the attachment

Matt : you should have realized the the gear box on the mower is not a DOT approved container for shipping oils - always supplied in separate product containers. Glad you ran it briefly before service

That one is for brush only, no trees. Keep it low to the ground too. It will throw debris back at you. Very dangerous without a lexan door. Got mine from www.skidsteerattachementdepot.com. Everything is built in Alabama and well built.

Dealing with brush like that, my policy has always been to send my 2 cousins in, with brush wackers, a case of beer, and a chainsaw 'just in case'.

I bought my cutter at RB's also. I had to replace the motor twice during the last 5 years. I have no complaints considering the abuse I put it through. I definitely got my moneys worth.

Check to make sure those blades were in fact, spinning in the correct rotation,...I`m probably wrong, but I thought they were spinning backwards! BTW that is not a pump,..it`s a motor, isn't it? The Skid Steer's pump is supposed to send fluid to the motor and the motor then spins the blades. PRC should stand for Product is Royal Crap,..in way too many cases! All the same though, why is this cheap junk allowed to be sold here in this Country?

Did you think to check if the gearbox had any oil in it ? Typically they are shipped new with no oil and many people ruin them because they don't check

As I was watching I was thinking, "Some of those look a bit too much like trees for me to want to run a slasher over." Let alone one made of Chineseium. I'd stick to the little stuff with that machine -- you've got the equipment to deal with them anyway, so you might as well save yourself the grief.

I do some sketchy stuff but I wouldn't run a cutter that likes to sling the blades out of it. Those blade bolts look small. Might need to upgrade them to a larger size and make bigger holes in the stump jumper. There aren't many areas i wouldn't take a brush cutter and a well matched tractor. And looking at their website and that tiller. LoL the tines, i just couldn't help but laughing at the china cheapness. Really makes me wonder about the cheapness of the motor and gearbox on that cutter.

May I suggest fitting a safety glass door on Bob for when you run this 👍🏽

Looking forward to seeing what a blade upgrade will do for you. I had a lot of problems with using my brush cutter in mixed bush. After a number of years, I was able to invest in a Denis Cimaf forestry mulching head. Expensive initially but well worth it seeing that its far more productive than the brush cutter. I use the cutter now only in long grass and young bush. It's got its place. It seemed that it only took one large unseen branch/log to foul up the cutter. Really enjoying your posts. You've got a beautiful piece of land to work.

you need a Fecon Mulcher over that hog, it grinds is all into the top 1/2" of the soil.

Don't use thread tape on hydraulics (or pneumatic systems). Pieces can come off and lodge in valves. Hydraulic sealant or pipe dope is always better. I am an engineer that had designed hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

The moral to the story of the blades coming off - NEVER tilt the cutter so that YOU (or anyone else) are in the plane of the blades. If that one that shot across the underbrush had come off on your side, you might be TWO Matt's now instead of one. Top half and bottom half.

That's Completely Disturbing , the Main purpose of a Brush cutter are the Blades & there making or should I say Pushing them out of the Cheaply made factories , when they work or last 2 minutes in Light duty underbrush. Crazy Absalutely Maddess.

Bought one identical. Gearbox is crap. Bearings have no shimes so bearings can’t be set. Took the bearings out and went to get numbers…. Believe it or not, the bearings have no numbers. The gear housing has no part number. The orbit motor is Easton but made in China. Looking for a bobcat or kabota (land pride)

I have been to the factory in China where they are made. They are a nightmare to work with and just make poor copies of USA products and dump them into RB auctions under several different names. Suihe, Wolverine, Top Gun, TMG, just to name a few. I can't believe that it falls apart and you are still satisfied. That blade coming off can kill you and you don't even have cab protection. You are lucky to be alive and you are still happy that you saved a buck and were able to support the PRC (People's Republic of China). Head shake.....

You might want to get new hoses bcause those are made in the Public Republic of China & you might want to take off the cover of the pump bcause the pump might be made in China also

You beat the hell out of that hog, you should always know what your driving over, could have been an old auto frame or worse dumped out there. I brush hogged with my tractor, always check your hog before & after use, you could kill somebody, maybe yourself with a missile blade launching. I'm from Pittsburgh area also.

China quality - mainly junk ?????? You may have the need to see if the nuts were tight on the blades before starting - they should not need testing but as you can see the blades came off - your viewers learn something - it did some brush cleaning for sure but not for long - but fixing the bolts is minor - you may tap and die the bolts - just has to be modified a little - see what happens

i've got a brush hog on my tractor... i would have shit my pants if a blades came off like that.

I can see Matt that once you make the box cutter "Matt-Worthy" it's a nice tool in your toolbox. I'm guessing by the looks of them you can sharpen the blades like a mower's blade, or will they be too chewed up that they'd not be able to be sharpened. Most of the new large quantity attachments are shipped from overseas in shipping containers packed full of cheap equipment. RB has a contract with them and it’s under multiple labels. You’ll see this stuff at virtually every major location. (Know this first hand due to working there 7 years.)

Matt, does your skidsteer have enough hydraulic flow? That JCT requires between 16-20GPM and 20 to spin at 1060 rpm. I think your Bobcat is 16GPM and that also powers 2 track motors and steering controller. The high flow Bobcat is like 26GPM. The cutter didn't seem to be spinning as fast as it should especially when tracking forward.

One thing that I wanted to point you towards is a better Lovejoy connector. Mine had a cain based shaft coupler and I highly recommend it. Easy to repair, very strong and pretty cheap. I can’t post links, so search McMaster for 6407K42 for an example. The one I have “floats” on the spline on the shaft and the gearbox and I haven’t had any problems. Hopefully I will have a video up in the next couple of months showing my repairs as well.
