I remember owning a scientific calculator while I was still in School, and that calculator was more powerful than the computer that landed guys on the moon. This was in the late 70's And as an ironic aside I still own a GTX 650. Still works, as far as I know. lol
When year started I was useing R7250x ,so basically HD 7770 , and that card above is better that R7 250x , luckly I have upgrate allready , I went thrue GTX 760 3gb , now I have GTX 970 , and in few months I go hunting for GTX 1080ti , and then go thrue RTX 20, 30 & 40 series , I have have made decision to take scenic route until RTX 5070 will get out :)
Right? Knowing they're done w the market, it makes me more grateful that my 1060 superclocked by them still is running flawless. I also still use their 500w psu from like 2 years ago. Love the brand.
I used a 650ti 2gb until last year. It served me very well, it was EGVA too. I changed the cooler and thermal paste only once in its life. It worked from 2012 until 2022 without any problems. Along with an I7 3770. :D
I remember the GTX 650 TI mostly from how big the jump in performance was from the GTX 650 to the GTX 660 and the TI was just kinda there without too much purpose to me. Then of course the Boost version which was close to the 660. More socket 775 (maybe) is always a treat.
I mean I've been watching your cnl for years and in this video I realized that you're no longer an "almost kid" like when I started watching the channel! A big hug from Paraguay! And happy holidays!
That 650Ti would probably have been really nice in an older build, running older games (think games from the Windows 7 and early Windows 8 era). Unfortunately it is just too weak in anything modern, even if it did have the latest feature set and driver support. I think you should make a PC build designed for older games, and put this into it. Maybe that Pentium in a 775 motherboard along with 4GB DDR2 and the 650Ti would make for a nice retro Windows XP or 7 build for older games (physical copies, not digital downloads, since Steam no longer supports Windows 7).
There are a plenty of cheap boards which support DDR3(and that particular CPU should work with it as well as long as I remember), so sticking to DDR2, especially stock 800MHz can be frustrating for Win7 era games...
been following you for what feels like forever, back when the channel didn't have much, still love watching all of your content and look forward to seeing what you bring next year. Merry Christmas from the States. Cheers.
I miss the simple yet appealing design of these older graphics cards. Now everything is covered in RBG and it looks like a rainbow vomited inside my case.
Learned everything I needed to know from this channel a few years ago about making my perfect pc and what to expect for a 1080p 60 fps experience and generally enjoyed watching. Got a used 1060 gtx three fan gpu for $125 and have played every game on high or ultra settings so far. Even made a pc just for watching Netflix/utube on big screen tv. Hope u r doing well and wish u the best.
My local computer recycling center has a couple of small version EVGA 750ti and some asus 770ti cards for dirt cheap. They look almost brand new condition too. Thought about buying the two 750ti just to fiddle around running them in SLI just for the giggles lol
I bought one of these back around 2017. For what I was doing, it worked quite well. But my games weren't graphically intense, aside from Subnautica (which could ALMOST run on high settings) and Sims 4. It's retired now, though, and mainly used if something doesn't have on-board graphics, or as a "known good" card for diagnostics.
@@RandomGaminginHD i mean i do have a gtx 750 in my backup rig simply because of it's power efficiency because it's rated for 75w i believe but it only pulls 30-35w
My first GPU was the vanilla GTX 650 (also by EVGA) the performance at the time was pretty good. It ran Portal 2 and the Walking Dead games like a dream. The most interesting thing about these cards is the 6-pin connector. It doesn't technically need it at all. Before I sold it I pushed this card in MSI Afterburner I was able to play games like the RE:2 Remake. But then I tried Doom Eternal and my computer laughed at me.
Thumbnail shows he's in the car - wonder if we're getting another sandwich review? Fingers crossed. Edit - nope, no sandwich review this time. Good GPU review though.
With the 6 pin connector, you should be able to overclock this model and should be able to see some slight improvements. I got my GTX 750 overclocked to +200mhz and +400mhz memory.
I still have a blower EVGA GTX 660 sitting in a box somewhere. Worked just fine last I checked but definitely would need a cleaning and re-paste if I were to put it back into service. The thing I remember most about it is how much quieter it was compared to the blower EVGA GTX 560 it replaced.
I'm no expert, but some of the error messages were caused by DirectX 12 incompatibility. Would using DXVK help in these circumstances, or is the GPU just too outdated for that?
My sister's PC is still sporting a hand-me-down GTX650ti! Roughly comparable to a GT 1030, and still does everything she needs of it. If I remember correctly, it's the rather iconic Cyclone II version from MSI; the one with the rather unusual splayed out HSF design.
It's a shame EVGA stepped out of the GPU business. I liked the looks of their graphics cards. They were nice and clean and not overly-gaudy like their competitors. And they were pretty reliable. I used 3 different EVGA cards (750ti, 960 and 1060) and they all worked well and I never had any issues with them.
Oh my god, the E5200 was such a good value at the time. You could oc easily from 2.5ghz to 3.4-3.8 ghz. Thanks for another relaxing clip and Merry Christmas.
I love budget stuff. Even tho ive got money now as an adult. But stil love the opportunity these value for money used parts can provide for people on a budget. And entry price for pc gaming is honestly so cheap nowadays. I recently bought a GTX 960 2GB from cex for £40
I have an unused 650ti in its original packaging in my office right now. I have no idea what to do with it, but no desire to sell it. My first ever GPU was an EVGA 660ti blower card with this same aesthetic, so I suppose I have a bit of a soft spot for it.
It would be interesting to pair this cheap GPU with the 10p CPU and see if there is any bottleneck. This card is good for office PC to gaming PC conversion builds, maybe ones with really old processors
Socket 775 cpus are great being pinless.. drill a hole in the corner and they make a good keyring. I think I had a socket 478cpu as an keyring at one point after I pulled all the pins off as a friend managed to snap a couple of pins off a brand new cpu.
Try the two together and see how they go. I've finally started putting together my old thing from my cupboard, q6600 8gb ddr2 gtx770 (2gb). See how that goes as a PC for a bedroom TV. I picked a case that's a bit of a tight fit for the gtx770 😂 but itl be done over Xmas once iv cut some bits of the case out lol
I remember hearing my favorite late great prank caller talking about the computer he was building on his podcast and i think it was a gtx650 with a 4th gen i7 with 32 gbs of memory. Just so crazy how long ago that was. RiP carlito the real prank call OG.
I stopped buying gpu's IN STORE with c.e.x. cos when I took one back 6 months later. Their was some strange behaviour in some games, (not artifacts) I didnt know what was causing it.. the tester guy refused to look at it cos there was a bit of dust in the sink intakes. (5% blocked) Now I didnt have a temps problem but he threw all the toys out of the pram and ran away into his workshop saying I had overheated it and broke the vram chips. So I had to mess about and take it to a friend, and it worked fine. So I cleared the cmos and set this gifted board up again (new cmos batt too) and all was good.. (the card still works today!) So the guy had just refused to look at it for no good reson afraid it would require a refund. Actually refusing any responsibility, unhelpful as fxkc. It took me a week to sort this issue.. I knew at this point and after hearing similar stories I would not buy another card from a physical store.
Still have an GTX 650 Ti somewhere in my closet, that i never really tested out. Got it from a ebay auction for a barebone/ mini pc, that i got for cheap (with a total different project for it in mind, it got a total overhaul from me). I think i should test it out at some point, it's an interesting little card.
I have a second computer with an i5 3470 and a 2GB 650ti in it. My kids use it to play Minecraft, The Sims 4, Stardew Valley and Roblox and it works great for that.
have an idea for a video: Test a MXM to PCIE adapter. basically a laptop gpu into a standard motherboard. What if any use would you get or do they even work and if so with what process does it take to work. You can get cards that slot into a motherboard and have video outputs.
Why the heck did i think you pulled out some sort of fast food sandwich when you showed the card in the bag ahahaha I was like oohhhh are yopu gonna review a gpu shaped burger ??? haaha
Watching it with same builder, but a GTX680. 473.81 driver version. I can play Division2. I will try other games as well. Maybe Battlefront II, No Man's Sky, Gta 4, Warframe, NFS Heat. Even Supreme Commander 2 put a sweat on the GT1030, so it might make the GTX680 sweat as well.
yeah, the 10p CPU bargains are great, I often find myself picking them up at my local CEX if they have them. Over the years, I've collected about 20 of them, all LGA 775. They're just fun to play around with, and nice to have.
slighyl off topic but did you ever try the Ryzen 4100 or 4500? I wonder how they compare to older high end CPUs like say the i7-4770.... or actually maybe something newer like an i7 from the 6th/7th generation? And Happy Holidays to ya - appreciate all ther great videos this year 🙂
I have the 2GB model. I haven't pulled it out in some time, but it was a great mid-range card in 2012. Played lots of Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 on this.
A much better dirt-cheap GPU that doesn’t require external power would probably be the RX 550. There’s a 2 GB variant often found for around $40 and a 4 GB variant often around $50. It’s nothing amazing these days, but has fairly recent drivers and can play more games than this poor 650S
I remember playing Half Life 2 just when it came out on my AGP ATI Radeon 9550 256mb when i was young, i obviously didn't have any money back then so i had to deal with it, but it was manageable, as time progressed and the source engine went through its upgrades performance was getting equally worse of course.
You should start reviewing sleeper laptops (low/med end) since theyre quite affordable in comparison to prebuilt pc builds. I've got an Ideapad 320 (i5-8th gen, 4gb AMD 530, 20 gigs of ram) with a decent hour long battery and it was around 200 usd after upgrades.
I've read it "the cheapest CEX at my local..." RandomCEXinCar😂 Man, do you really live in England? Haifa's weather is EXACTLY the same!😅 Already missing the spring😢 Jokes aside, CP2077 was a Crysis of it's release days, good to see it optimized that far back! It probably could be played on, let's say, 680. Kudos to CDPR!
my first gpu was amd hd 7770, my second was gtx 650ti 2gb msi non-boost,it seems its kinda rare gpu nowadays, back in the day was 10% better than myt amd one:)),but i upgraded cause 2gb vs 1 i tought it would make a difference back in 2013-2014.
For a card which is obsolete and never been powerful, even in it's heyday, results are quite respectful. 10p for CPU? Wonder how much been given to seller for it? And I guess, voucher or cash won't be big difference....
